The freedom is where it stops for the comparison, GTA had the mission system going to various people in the city and doing jobs. Carmageddon had full freedom and exploration. It had set missions but not mini missions on each level like an RPG. The freedom is where Carmageddon influenced it, that and running over people. A very controversial game in its time.

It was too realistic.... even have trouble drifting around corners.

Thats what made the other ones more popular not being too realistic until they start on GTA 5. Stick with the Saints Row games they're over the top and not realistic.

Thats what made the other ones more popular not being too realistic until they start on GTA 5. Stick with the Saints Row games they're over the top and not realistic. So now they're too realistic to the point of not being realistic at all?

Lol this user over on KMC saying they should add a female character to play as too attract more females. This is KMC we're talking about. They need women for him to screw, adding a female lead won't make a difference to female gamers, either they like it or don't. Women tend to play different games than guys.
