A good character is a good character, but I don't think it needs to be changed for the sake of it.

Right but what people are complaining about is that it seems more like a way to shoehorn a female character in. They wouldn't get rid of Thor though, he's too iconic a character and I'm sure things will revert. They're probably just testing the water.
