games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/rumor-next-playstation-coming-2013-200015017.htmlThere have been plenty of leaks, whispers and rumors about the next Xbox for a few months now, but there hasn't been a lot of talk about Sony's plans for the next generation.
Kotaku, though, claims to have uncovered some inside information about the system that, on the surface, makes it sound like the next generation console race is going to be a tight one -- and begin next year.
Citing a single anonymous source, Kotaku says it believes the code name for the next PlayStation is "Orbis." And while the next console from Sony is widely expected to be called PlayStation 4 when it hits shelves, the site infers that Orbis might be the system's final name.
Whatever it's called, Kotaku says we can expect to see it released in the holiday period of 2013 -- the same timeframe most expect the next Xbox to arrive. If so, that would eliminate the one year head start Microsoft enjoyed with the Xbox 360, a year that gave it a lead over Sony that thus far has proven insurmountable.

Much like the rumored next Xbox system (codenamed Durango), the new Sony system will lock games to a PSN account, which could impact the used game market.
"If you then decide to trade that disc in, the pre-owned customer picking it up will be limited in what they can do," the site said. "While our sources were unclear on how exactly the pre-owned customer side of things would work, it's believed used games will be limited to a trial mode or some other form of content restriction, with consumers having to pay a fee to unlock/register the full game."
If true, that's likely to upset a notable segment of the gaming population, not to mention have a serious impact on retailers like GameStop who make a tidy profit on the used game market. And Sony could ruffle even more feathers if the system ditches backward compatibility with the PlayStation 3, as Kotaku says it will.
In terms of hard specs, Kotaku says the system will use either AMD's x64 CPU or perhaps AMD's Southern Islands GPU, the company's high-end chip. Graphics-wise, Orbis is said to be capable of resolutions up to 4096x2160, commonly called '4K' in TV manufacturer parlance (and one of the technological boosts shown off at this year's CES). It's also said to be able to play 3D games in full 1080p, a leap over the PS3's max 3D resolution of 720.
It's critical to note that these are unconfirmed reports based on a single source, so it's wise to be skeptical. Developers Yahoo! Games has spoken with are unable to confirm anything in Kotaku's report, and note they haven't been contacted yet by Sony to discuss the new system (though they say they have spoken with Microsoft).
Don't expect Sony to officially start talking about the PS4 or Orbis anytime soon, either. In January Sony's Kaz Hirai stated clearly that the company would not announce any new home systems at E3.

Lol I'm gonna wait 'til late 2014 when Sony makes the PS4 Sllim and Lite for 100$ less. Then I'll consider makin my purchase. Seen that PS Vita the other day and it looks damn hot! Can't wait for the eventual upgrade on the cheap. I'll pounce on that, then.

Oh yeah, I do that, too. Unless it's a really hot fighting game. . .that isn't made by Capcom. Theres a new one for the next Xbox supposedly constant internet connection the whole used game thing where they're trying to put a stop to it i don't like the idea i hope its all just rumors. So you will need the net just to play the damn games? Even the whole, "not being able to play used games" thing sounds a little too hard to believe. People luv VGs, but I'm sure not that much. Some will buy that shit, if it turns out to be true, but I don't think enough people will.

You know you'll be getting the next Street Fighter Noob.
I think internet access is pretty much expected now.

I think internet access is pretty much expected now. I don't see the point if it includes the single player mode

I prefer games to have a bit of both, but it seems gaming is going in the direction I posted.

its too early. not to mention they know people wont buy them if there are no good games to come along with it. They will just be at a loss when launching it to compete with the current gen of consoles.
look how many good games and DLCs are coming out in this year?!?!

Oh yea, now would be a bad time since PS3 has gotten its momentum after a slow start. They'd better wait and make some really good games to go with it this time...

You know you'll be getting the next Street Fighter Noob. Yeah sure. I sure will, if it's after Darkstalkers 4 or Vampire Savior Online Edition.

You'd better hope those games sell. It would've done amazing if Capcom had released it AFTER SFIV, like Ono wanted. Best bet now, would be to wait a few years, then release it. SFxT isn't even doing that well and it's the greatest crossover since MVC1. Vampire would have been a real breath of fresh air, something the genre could use right now. *waiting for Skull Girls*

Not only is Darkstalkers an old title, but who knows how well it would have done.

It would have done great. SFIII was an old title before SFIV. Ono was hyping up Darkstalkers since the very 1st SFIV. SFIV was a HUGE success, so was Super. People would have bought total trash just because it was made by Capcom. They bought MVC3. Not to mention, people actually wanted a new Darkstalkers. It was in higher demand than MVC3 was.

You sure the average person wanted Darkstalkers over MVC3. I can see more people recognizing Spider-Man and Wolverine over Darkstalkers. Just seems like an easier sell, many hardcore fans wanted Darkstalkers to come back, I just can't believe the average person would want a game they aren't even aware of to be resurrected.

Well keep havin are hard time believin. We seen how much the average joe appreciated Marvel 3 lmbao. And we see how far familiar faces get you with SFxT. *chuckles* You need more than a familiar face to keep selling the same games over and over. You need to actually make new, different, and good games. You already milked the casuals with SFIV, time to make a game your true fans asked for and market it to the masses on the basis that it's the greatest fighter you've ever made. Which it would have to be. You're Capcom, you gain interest in whatever it is you make, anyway. You've already made close to 10 SF and Versus games in 4 years. lulz, Darkstalker 4 would have been a better gamble than SFxT, I know that. Casuals can only play the same type of fighting games for so long. The genre could use some freshness form Capcom at this point. No sense in drivin yur cash cow into the ground. Let's not forget that SFIV was a gamble, an even crazier gamble than what DS4 would be now.

My point was you saying the idea of Darkstalkers was more popular. Maybe amongst some hardcores but the average person doesn't even know what Darkstalkers is. They know who Spider-Man and Wolverine is though. Not saying the game would be bad though.
