But what if a second person simply wanted to put the disc in and play the game without installing – and without paying extra? In other words, what happens to our traditional concept of a “used game”? This is a question for which Microsoft did not yet have an answer, and is surely something that game buyers (as well as renters and lenders) will want to know.

it's up to the developer. Some games may require an Internet connection; some may not. The future of always-online remains hazy.

*Buy the way you want—disc or digital—on the same day: You’ll be able to buy disc-based games at traditional retailers or online through Xbox Live, on day of release. Discs will continue to be a great way to install your games quickly.

*Access your entire games library from any Xbox One—no discs required: After signing in and installing, you can play any of your games from any Xbox One because a digital copy of your game is stored on your console and in the cloud. So, for example, while you are logged in at your friend’s house, you can play your games.

*Share access to your games with everyone inside your home: Your friends and family, your guests and acquaintances get unlimited access to all of your games. Anyone can play your games on your console--regardless of whether you are logged in or their relationship to you.

*Give your family access to your entire games library anytime, anywhere: Xbox One will enable new forms of access for families. Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Just like today, a family member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend’s house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games. You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time.

*Trade-in and resell your disc-based games: Today, some gamers choose to sell their old disc-based games back for cash and credit. We designed Xbox One so game publishers can enable you to trade in your games at participating retailers. Microsoft does not charge a platform fee to retailers, publishers, or consumers for enabling transfer of these games.

*Give your games to friends: Xbox One is designed so game publishers can enable you to give your disc-based games to your friends. There are no fees charged as part of these transfers. There are two requirements: you can only give them to people who have been on your friends list for at least 30 days and each game can only be given once

Beyond this, Xbox Wire also confirms some other issues, including the console’s need to connect to the internet once every 24 hours and the extent of the power publishers have over game sharing.

That doesn't sound too bad from the start. I hate lugging around discs.

It depends on the process. I like being able to carry all of my games around on a few sticks or just having them on my pc or device without having to deal with discs. Though nowadays I don't bring my game to a friend's house or anything but once you start to add on the games they take up ridiculous space. I still have all of my old consoles and they take up tons of space. I'd rather have them on a memory stick or in the console. Same way I do with my pc games. Downloaded games are cheaper too more often than not.

Just my preference.

but now that's getting taken away with some games with the DRM, Yeah you may have brought it but the company still owns it.

You don't own it anymore with a disc really. You're only paying to enjoy the content that they own. Keep in mind it's not just games I prefer the download. Books, movies, games, etc. If I had a hard copy of everything, I'd literally have no room and it would be a pain to keep up with.

I'm more thinking about the people that don't know what their getting themselves into with the DRM

i only pre-order games especially when you know its a known dev involved that can be trusted then of course do it.

No not at all...DRM sucks period hasn't worked for PC why bother doing it for consoles.

The system sounds good in some ways, though I don't like having to log in much, but one good thing is that you can still play at your friends house, sell your games, and trade your games. And everyone has internet.

I don't know what strings will be attached but we'll just have to wait and see.
