Just curious, I mean the rules for debating seem sensible. But, when you actually get into it. The quality is godawful. Why is that?

Just curious, I mean the rules for debating seem sensible. But, when you actually get into it. The quality is godawful. Why is that? You mean in general? I think it depends on the forum. To me it seems that people come into debates with a set mind and it won't change. It's like a zealous fascination. Religion, politics, and money are obvious, as we have seen. But even things like video games and comic books have the same issue. People are just too far gone and can't be objective on any level despite their preferences. So what I find is I just end up repeating myself time and time again to some moron. I'd rather have a discussion but you end up having an argument as people rely on twisted ways to "win" in their mind. It's very exhausting and why I avoid most sites. I want to have a discussion, not just the usual natter.

Well said.
Another common thing I notice is that people tend to be very ignorant when it comes to other characters outside of their favorite series. But, when pitted against the chracter they don't know they will always assume their character wins anyway. Alot of them don't branch out and read other works and rely on wikis or respect threads. Like I actually read all the issues of X-men legacy just to keep myself informed. Most people won't do that.

I mean a person isn't going to know every character that exists, but they could at least ask for information. I find the best cure to fanboyism or diehards is being informed. That is, if they want to learn. Some people are just so far gone on topics that any discussion with them is a waste of time, like that discussion I had with aper at MGTOW.

I mean how else do you have these 1,000 page discussions? Fanboy wars.

It's a wise choice, but the parallels are strong no matter what you debate. People just have strong feelings and not enough logic and they just want to "believe" they're right without any facts.

I think another problem is bad moderation. Alot of the mods don't read the source material either and have no idea when someone is lying. So, they don't weed out the fanboys. They also do not penalize logical fallacies. They just let things go on auto-pilot.

Granted I don't want people to feel like they're being banned for others disagreeing with them if they aren't trolling, many times they know someone is biased but they won't ban them. Then you have the corrupt moderators who are full of shit like at KMC, where they DO ban who they disagree with while breaking many of the rules themselves. I'm open minded; I won't ban you, but I will call you out on your crap. The problem is, the larger a site is, the more morons you will have and the harder it is to keep track of all of it. It's funny because all of my friends who become mods all say they hate it now. At some sites only globals and admin can even do bans and the rest have to go through a lengthy process. The people who have mod buddies will never be banned which allows them to run rampant.

Just like it's the best to have your own place, business, etc. More work (for instance I want to update some skins and stuff and I need to get my image editing program back), but it's worth it in the long run.

There's also some people you come across that presume you know both sides of the verses or even laugh at you because you've made a spite thread and you didn't even know, Then you reply back with sorry for not reading enough DC or Marvel fuckwit......or something of the sort.

There's also the morons who just keep going on and on no matter how wrong they are. Just wasting time. Both are about trying to make a point rather than a discussion.

I think I'm burn't out of discussion. There was this medium sized forum I went too in order to troll and I was pretty damn good at it if I do say so myself. But, even still I found myself jaded of it. I rather just come here for discussion. To be honest, I'm generally tired of people anyway.

But yea, it's hard to find good discussions, and even then I like to chill. Discussions are fine, but then you play a bit. Long multi quote wars are still annoying and convincing morons is annoying. Just wears you out lol. I like having control over my environment.

I have the skills, but I love my peace and quiet more than anyone lol. Yeah, people skills are important. But, you know the saying "Fake it till you make it". Most people are self-centered, irrational and over-emotional [especially women]. It's good to know how to "handle" them, but I trust the next man as far as I can throw him.

Well everyone cares about themselves, but I do agree that many people are fake and full of it. Which is why I don't like to be bothered. Family and friends can be the biggest hindrances to success actually. It's funny because people at sites like MGTOW say that women are inherently trustworthy and men are "noble". Now I do agree that women tend to be big backstabbers. But most of those guys would stab their own bro in the back for sex if they got the chance. Which is sad.

Yep, people don't plan for the future and don't save. They have too many kids and they get resentful and want handouts. The others justify it by saying "well you just got lucky." Yea Luck. Laboring Under Correct Knowledge. Working smart AND working hard leads to success. Now I do agree that women tend to be big backstabbers.. Not all of them are backstabbers. That's the Nawalt defense. Some aren't but most are, I mean some people win the lottery too or jump off of a 10 story building and survive. Doesn't mean I'd think my odds are good.

Well if you're seeking validation from others I'd say that's a sign of weakness anyways. People like that cater to losers. Focus on finding someone past where you are and ask them how they got where they were and learn from them. People pleasing gets you nowhere.

I hear successful people only hang out with other successful people. That an individual should focus on only including positive people in their circle. No time for losers basically.

Well people tend to hang around people like themselves. Potsmoking losers tend to hang around each other, gaming nerds, etc. People who are interested in business and success hang out to motivate each other and to challenge each other to do better, like a workout partner. Nothing more poisonous for the mind than hanging out with losers, friends and family are often the biggest hindrance to success too. They just resent you doing something and want to bring you down. Even if you were a loser and you wanted to get your life on track, people like this will criticize you for "thinking you're better than everyone". Envy never ends.
