Primary: Kyo, Saiki, Hwa Jai (Ex Iori and Kyo can swap). Second: Kula, Karate, some Beni, some Yuri, some Mai, a little Chin, and some Vice, and a little Takuma as well, and some Athena. I like that the game is balanced and that I can use who I want.

I've always fancied Takuma and Terry in every SNK game.

I've always fancied Takuma and Terry in every SNK game. Karate plays like Takuma with a better neutral game and more defense but with less damage.

Tbh, I always preferred SNK "shotos" over Capcoms. Really cool.

Tbh, I always preferred SNK "shotos" over Capcoms. Really cool. Yes, the characters in Kof tend to be more hybrids. Kyo for instance has fireball, dp, running grab, command grab, anti air kick, etc. They have a more well rounded way of playing. Many more options overall. That said I am a big Evil Ryu fan, he works for me.

I also feel that snk experiments more with the move sets.

I also feel that snk experiments more with the move sets. Because they can. Kof is a more open game with lots of options and can still balance the game very well. They don't need low health or any lame crap like that. Like Akuma and Seth for instance, let's give them low health and tons of cheap stuff. In Kof you have more options for everyone and characters can have more unique attacks that would break them in a game like SF4 which is more linear and 2 dimensional in its approach (which some people enjoy about SF so it isn't necessarily bad).

Also, KOF has improved over the years and tried so many new things. While SF peaked in the 90's, KOF kept going. Have you played yatagarasu? Former SNK team made it.

SF4 was designed to be a cash grab by appealing to the masses so they didn't try anything new. They basically took SF2 and SF3 and left everything the same to attract the largest amount of people and it didn't work. I've heard of it but I haven't played it.

Everyone made fun of me when I said that. Goes to show you that you can't stop a bandwagon. For saying it's a blatant attempt at mixing SF2 and SF3 but failing? Check this post. "Gonna be honest I stopped reading after "cartoons back then aren't better then today" as i imagine you think the new simpsons seasons are better or fhat the prequel star war films are better them the originals.
Anyways though ignoring those disturbing sentiments what your forgetting about SF4 is that it was intially intended as a beta 3s that players would use as a stepping stone to that game. It's been a point from Ono and people involved in the game that SF4s purpose was to recapture the casual audience for fighting games and to do this they needed to tone down certain aspects that casual players found difficult.
This isn't just me being a asshole...this is a admitted point from the creators themselves. Everything about this game from the low damage output, the sluggish speed, the floaty jumps, the fugly gears of war art style, the obvious sf2 roster emphasis, the lack of block stun, the million year long reversal window, the neutered zoning, the overly large stages, the ultra system, the 3D visuals and the story mode were all a massive appeal to lure in casual players and people who don't traditionally play fighting games. You can argue with me all week trying to justify these mechanics but no matter what mental gymnastics you pull....the evidence is in the very details of this games design.
On the final note about high damage output being lazy....you do realize the extremely low damage output of sf4 means that your actually encouraged to make mistakes and be reckless because nothing in this game hurts. The damage builds cumulatively over numerous combos and pokes meaning that it there is no real consequence for making mistakes. In SF2 a whiffed dp or 2 meant game over...in this game you could easily whiff over 3 DPs and still have a shot at a comeback. I wonder who that was designed for....the veteran FGC players or the COD dudebros who played this game when they were waiting between halo 4 and GTA...guess we'll never know."

I used to think that casualization was an alarmist buzzword, But, SF4 convinced me otherwise.

I should make that into a sig.
Here's another one. I was on a Twisted Metal forum and we were talking about why the new Twisted Metal sucked compared to Black because they watered it down.
He called it Street Fighter 4 Syndrome, in reference to the dumbing down of general media like gaming, movies, and music.
I'll have to find it though.

Video Games in general have become more linear, more story focus and more about graphics/set pieces than about gameplay. I used to rag on nintendo, but they're one of the few that seem to care about gameplay which is why the whole wireless thing is imo a promising direction for games. Since it's gameplay oriented, same with ios games. High-end consoles have become hollywoodized.

Since it's gameplay oriented, same with ios games. High-end consoles have become hollywoodized. That's because gaming has become a lot more expensive with larger production so they have to make it appeal to casuals. I don't mind the story focus, but graphics over gameplay really bothers me. I don't know about Nintendo, I think they've lost much of their foothold over the years and had to casual out. I think they stay alive mainly because of the diehard fanboys who love the first party Mario, Link, Samus, and Poke'mon, and because of the casual base. Their first party games are still solid though I'll give them that. PS3 has some good ones too with God of War, Infamous, etc. But in general things have been dumbed down.

The budgets are out of control and it's getting to the point where only big companies can afford to make games.

The budgets are out of control and it's getting to the point where only big companies can afford to make games. Many companies are going broke. Capcom included. Tomb Raider reboot was good but it ended up costing so much to make that the sells didn't help much.

Which country do you think is the best in Kof? It varies. Obviously Japan and Korea are going to have a high concentration of good players due to population density and ease of practice/travel with top level players. I find they tend to play more defensive while Mexicans play more aggressive.
