Democracy is often touted as one of the best inventions of mankind. One man, one vote. I do not feel this way at all, I feel it's one of the worst inventions of mankind and is essentially collectivism and socialism in disguise; a tyranny of the majority.
How do you feel about this?

The founding fathers didn't support a democracy either. It's rule by a mob.

Yea, I feel that over time our individual rights have eroded away and it's largely because you have the masses voting to take it away because they want to steal from others. The reason we had a restricted vote of educated people was to greatly reduce this problem. They set it up very well in the beginning, but a lot of corruption has changed things.

Reviving this thread, Democracy is one of the biggest lies without a doubt.

Reviving this thread, Democracy is one of the biggest lies without a doubt. Do you mean a lie in the sense that people portray it as the ultimate good?

Pretty much, it's touted as the greatest form of governance when it is infact one of the worst. Hitler for example was democratically elected and so was Obama now that I mention it. [See where I'm going with this? Hint-hint Nudge-nudge.]

[See where I'm going with this? Hint-hint Nudge-nudge.] It's touted that way because the people who want power use it to secure easy votes by pandering to the masses. The tyranny of many is no better than the tyranny of one man. Our founding fathers would have rather had a king than mob rule. Ask Detroit.

"Detroit will comeback because houses are so cheap. Everyone will want to buy houses."
WTF am I reading?

"Detroit will comeback because houses are so cheap. Everyone will want to buy houses." WTF am I reading? People buying a bunch of houses with more borrowed money doesn't mean Detroit will "come back". There are still far too many problems in Detroit with the way its run before it is even close to being fixed. Why people think buying overpriced houses makes an economy is beyond me.

Detroit is the model for the rest of america anyway. So, it's only a matter of time.

I don't feel sorry for them, this is what they wanted. They should enjoy it.

I don't feel sorry for them, this is what they wanted. They should enjoy it. The problem is the other people who didn't vote for the government are now stuck with it. They get to pay for other people's stupidity literally and figuratively.

They sold the future for the present and they don't care if they wreck the country. As long as they get their welfare, Mark Steyn talked about this:

This is one of the reasons that Stephen Molyneux was pointing out that a democracy is worse than even a monarchy. A king has a vested interest in keeping a kingdom running well for his offspring. So he wants to make good future decisions.
Democracies are all about making a convenient decision in the present, even at the expense of one's own offspring. It's a highly wicked system that always leads to failure.

That keeps special interest voting blocks from forming. One guy went one step further and said women shouldn't vote period lol.

It would make society more about the individual or at least the individual's family. As noted on Peter Schiff's show by Tom Woods, many times diversity was used to break up the masses while the government seized control.
I don't thinking owning houses is really necessary and doesn't mean anything as many people are just drowning in debt.
I'd rather people be productive and produce more than they take from society. No welfare recipients or government workers. Age does matter to some extent as people voted older in the past when they had work experience vs kids brainwashed in government schools.
Women do vote overwhelmingly socialist as they are takers. I wouldn't outright ban women, but I'd just be more concerned about them being well informed, well read, and productive. That should cut down on stealing.
Many old people are voting to steal from the youth now. We shouldn't be able to steal from our neighbors period.

That sounds sensible, no welfare recipients allowed. Basically, no leeches.

The thing is people couldn't vote to steal from their betters in the past so it wasn't an issue. Now we have people who are stealing and don't give a damn about anybody but themselves and then want to preach about being nice and generous with other people's money. It's sick.
