www.eventhubs.com/news/2014/jun/24/report-capcom-wont-allow-ryu-or-chun-lis-head-be-ripped-violence-issue-has-be-solved-street-fighter-vs-mortal-kombat-happen/Metro's GameCentral was able to catch up with one of the NetherRealm Studios' developers at E3 2014 to ask about Mortal Kombat X, but their interview process lead them back towards the often rumored title, Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat.
The interview wasn't recorded and transcribed later, nor did they specifically name who they spoke with at NRS about this subject, so take the following with that in mind.
GameCentral noted due to the nature of how this interview was conducted, the NRS developer opened up and didn't give "press release" style answers to questions, though. According to the story, Ryu or Chun-Li's head being ripped off at the end of a match in a Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat game isn't something Capcom is OK with, and apparently this point has been the deal breaker in the past as to why this title hasn't been made.
In the article, they mention no one can work out a way around the problem — that Street Fighter is no where near as violent of a franchise, so merging the two is quite an issue.
NetherRealm Studios said they still stay in touch with Capcom, though.
If you were one of the developers working on this title, how would you solve the violence issue? Leave a comment below with your thoughts.

That's why Capcom will have crossovers with Tekken before MK despite a crossover with the later being more requested.

Yeah, but MK Vs DC had characters dying. Even though, the fatalities were tame. Capcom might not won't death at all.

I still think it's gonna happen, Capcom is in no position to say no to money. This crossover will make money since MK is bigger than ever.

If Mortal Kombat increases in popularity it might very well happen. It seems like other companies are catching up and even surpassing Capcom in a lot of areas. Tekken 7 is planning a simultaneous PC release with consoles if I'm not mistaken.

The funny thing is I predicted Capcom would have trouble back in 2008 when things were pretty good for them. It was obvious based on the games they were making. They were making too many dumb mistakes.

They were making too many dumb mistakes. Yea like my friend was saying they saw the success of dumbed down American games here like CoD and it seemed like they followed that model. The ruined a lot of series like DmC and MegaMan too.

IMo, they should have tried to balance the focus on story and graphics that westerners love with solid gameplay underneath. They just wanted a quick cash in.

They can appeal to everyone by making the game pretty and including lots of content while still making it deep. Look at Alpha 3, that game is 15-16 years old and it's jam packed with content. It was released even last gen on the PSP with even more content. They had Arcade, Story, Versus, Team, Dramtic, Final Battle, Training, World Tour. Not to mention all of the options inside of those modes. They actually cared back then, but not so much now.

I also knew it would be bad because Capcom was bleeding talent. They lost: Funimizu, Okamoto, Mikami, Kamiya & Clover Studios which became platinum games [my favorite studio, etc
The company must be doing something wrong internally to lose all that talent. But, big Japanese game companies are bleeding talent anyway in favor of small indy studios.

But, big Japanese game companies are bleeding talent anyway in favor of small indy studios. Yea, losing talented developers makes a big difference. Just like Scott Campbell wasn't on Twisted Metal and that game was a lot worse. People jump ship and take better deals and many probably don't like their talent wasted. They also have a different studio actually programming this stuff. I actually thought SF4 was still solid, but USF4 is a mess and seems to be loaded with problems. Every day is a glitch or something and then they respond by just nerfing characters. It doesn't make sense. Indie games are just old school games made new again. I love old school stuff myself so it's a welcome change.

Platinum games for example is just a great studio. I like small games from star developers: The Evil Within or Anarchy reigns.
Have you played Anarchy reigns.

Did you play TMNT: Out of The Shadows?
One of the exceptions of a game getting worse, this was the deepest beat-em-up I played and you can customize and level up all of the Turtles and do team attacks and everything. Highly underrated. Give it a shot.

I did just to try out Ultra when it downloaded on my PC, but I don't put the time into it anymore. I'm doing art now outside of business. I'm getting an art tablet actually because I haven't drawn in ages.

You gotta get back into your art, It was really good. I used to draw, but stopped. I'm thinking about starting up again. Well I'm doing Photoshop stuff now, but now I'm going to combine the two. I guess the reason I stopped was because carrying around so many tools and items was just a lot. Having to deal with paper and everything else like that. Same thing when carrying books and movies around, and games. Nowadays I carry everything around electronically since it saves space. I can upload it online and edit it vs carrying around so much stuff. Not to mention I can edit my work and go back and forth. Once you draw something on paper, that's it. This is what I'm getting: bosto-tablet.com/models/22hdx/I shopped around for a while. Wacom is way overpriced and like Alienware. It is the most known and they can charge more for it. Other competition has come in and drastically lowered the price which is magnificent. Can't wait.

SF vs MK is possible but not probable. www.eventhubs.com/news/2014/aug/16/mortal-kombat-vs-street-fighter-possibility-not-probability-ed-boon-crossover-potential-and-new-finishing-moves-mortal-kombat-x/"Mortal Kombat director Ed Boon was present at GamesCom this year, and while at the event, he talked not only about his own desire to make a Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat crossover, but also one of the Mortal Kombat series trademark finishing moves, besides Fatalities, returning in the new installment, Mortal Kombat X.
Throughout the years, Mortal Kombat has had all manners of bizarre finishing moves, even though the Fatality is the most well-known one. At times, moves called Brutality, Animality, Babality and Friendship, among others, have existed within the series. Boon stated that one of these old classics will be returning in the new installment - but couldn't unveil which. Below, you'll find a snippet of what Boon had to say. Ed Boon: For those who are familiar with the Mortal Kombat, we’ve first had the Fatality and we added a Babality. We had the Friendship moves, Brutality moves and all of these crazy things over the years... We are going to be reinstating an ‘Ality’ from a previous game into Mortal Kombat X. And I can’t wait to be able to talk about it but at the moment I can’t.
Hit the jump to hear what Boon had to say about the dream crossover between his own franchise and Capcom's fighting game juggernaut.
Ed Boon: There currently isn’t a Mortal Kombat versus project in the works. There's a nostalgia side of me that would love to see a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter, if we were allowed to make an M-rated game. There’s a novelty to that. But the chances of that happening are pretty low. It is a possibility but not a probability."
