TEKKEN-NET Carry Over Data from Tekken 7 to Fated Retribution Alongside the June 15 Press conference news, Tekken Official published a final complete list of all carry over data from Tekken 7 in arcades to the Fated Retribution update. Ranks are not getting completely reset but rather, you'll start off with a lower rank in Fated Retribution when it goes live next month. Tekken 7 Will Be at E3 with a Live Demo via IGN
With all the news coming out for many other fighting games these days, it may be easy to forget that Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7 has yet to hit home consoles. For those players looking for more on the game, it seems that the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo may have a few things in store.
IGN have confirmed that they will be hosting Tekken 7 on their live show at the event. The demo will take place on Thursday, June 16 at 2:40 PM PDT.
As for what the demo itself will entail, we have no idea as of yet. However, considering that Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada and Brand and Community Manager Mark “MarkMan” Julio are both attending E3, it’s possible that we might see either of them–or even both of them–together on stream.

Arcade Side - The King Of Iron Fist Tournament 2016 Announced
Announced at the Japanese press conference event , the arcade side of Bandai Namco will once again be running a King of Iron Fist Tournament series for this year and on Tekken 7 Fated Retribution. This is not to be confused with the North American side of this tournament which I presume will be running separate to this one. Official promotional videos of the event is now up on the Tekken YouTube channel and the 1st and 2nd place at this year's EVO will be invited to the finals event later this year!

Watch The Nobi VS Tokido Exhibition Match on T7FR's New Mishima Building Stage
Taken place at the Japanese Press conference event for Tekken 7 Fated Retribution was once again another Nobi VS Tokido exhibition match. Once again those crazy Japanese with their production levels, they had Lenne Hardt back introducing the players and even made Nobi wear his championship ring during the exhibition. It was a short set but Nobi used his Dragunov against Tokido's Akuma in the latest build of the game which will be out next month. The build had the new Mishima Building stage which is a sprawling elevator stage with a transition to the rooftop in the later rounds. Since the King Of Iron Fist Tournament 2016 was announced, Tokido mentioned himself on the broadcast that he himself is now interested in participating in Tekken 7 tournaments so who knows, you may face off against the 'Murderface' yourself at the next tournament.

Harada - If Tekken 7 does extremely well...maybe there is a time later on to revisit Tekken X Street Fighter
Tekken x Street Fighter has pretty much been in limbo since it was announced back in 2010. Producer of the Tekken series, Katsuhiro Harada has been around to reassure us that the game has been in development since.
When he was asked about it on the E3 show floor this year, he spoke a bit more on why we've still yet to see a release.
Game Spot eventually asks Harada if he plans to revisit the idea of TxSF, to which he responds, "That's actually a very good question, because TxSF is not cancelled, it's kind of put on hold."
"Reasons are...right now SF5 just launched, Capcom is putting a tremendous effort into making that successful. On our side we released Tekken 7 in the arcade. It was even more popular than we imagined, and so we each have these two main franchises that we are trying to promote, and to have the players enjoy the moment."
Beyond making sure that their mainline titles are up to par with meeting the needs of their fanbase, developers also have to keep a good business sense in mind. Harada addresses this in his answer as well:
"So business-wise it's not a very good decision to throw in another launch. So, as you say, if Tekken 7 does extremely well, and Street Fighter 5 is in a good position, then maybe there is a time later on to revisit that conversation."
This implies that if we are going to see another hybrid between the two, it'll be a little while from now.
It's no secret that Street Fighter x Tekken wasn't the most well-recieved game in the world. On top of that, details about this title have been rather scarce over the years.

Check Out Some More Iron-Fisted Tekken 7 Gameplay from E3
Earlier this week, thanks to E3, we learned that Tekken 7 will be coming to consoles and PC in early 2017. Aside from this, however, the game’s appearance at E3 has allowed numerous outlets to attain more footage of the game’s latest, updated version (called Fated Retribution in arcades) in action.
Gematsu has uploaded a bunch of new gameplay videos onto their YouTube channel. Aside from showing off the game’s updated look, a couple of these also demonstrate more of Street Fighter guest character Akuma and the unique systems and mechanics he brings to the game.

Thoughts on revisit Tekken X Street Fighter:
Well then, Tekken 7 does have PC release so it is likely to increase sales (hopefully nothing goes wrong), so far for SFV position they're at least planning to expand the games life cycle despite not reaching 2 million expectation and will see what happens once the Story Mode drops, which Capcom has already made enough bad decisions for SFV along with being lacking to please everyone.
I've always want to see Tekken X Street Fighter ever since Comic Con 2010 and I want to play Harada's version of this game.

Harada Talks Tekken 7 at E3: Story Mode and Other Port Details
Tekken 7 has been out for over a year in Japanese arcades, but there is a lot of information left to glean about the eventual port to home consoles. At E3, GameSpot sat down with Harada and asked several questions, like how legacy controllers will–or will not–be supported. Harada’s answer implied they are making their own drivers, and do desire to make as many controllers work with the game as they can, but with so many on the market, it’s difficult to guarantee global compatibility.
Harada also goes in-depth about sections of the game’s story. He claims that it’s “unlike anything we’ve done so far,” and also hints at some closure to the Mishima story arc. He also goes into why and how Street Fighter’s Akuma fits into the central story.

Eliza Possibly Coming to Tekken 7 Fated Retribution
With Tekken 7’s Fated Retribution update, the game gains a couple of new characters–returning character Nina Williams and guest character Akuma from Street Fighter. However, it’s likely that the cast will continue to expand in the coming months leading up to the game’s console release.
In a video shown during the Tekken 7 Fated Retribution X CR Tekken 2 Toshin Ver. Press Conference, we get to catch a glimpse of one another possible new character, Eliza, the vampire introduced in Tekken Revolution.
Eliza can be briefly glimpsed near the start of the press conference, at around 1 minute 45 seconds into the video below from Avoiding the Puddle’s Flying Wonkey.
Wonkey also later provided screen caps when queried about this on Twitter (including another shot from a later segment in the above video).
Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Eliza is coming to Tekken 7, as the event itself was talking about the CR Tekken 2 Toshin Version–a pachinko game–in addition to Tekken 7. That said, the footage of her seems new, not something from her original trailer for Tekken Revolution.
We’re likely bound to learn more on whether or not Eliza, or any other characters are coming to Tekken 7 in the coming months.

Tekken Talk #2 - Markman & Rip with Special Guests Harada & Michael Murray
Tekken Talk Episode 2 with special guests Katsuhiro Harada and Michael Murray from the Tekken team is now up on YouTube. Lots of interesting topics discussed such as the PC version of Tekken 7, Tekken X Street Fighter, Tekken Ball, post launch support, console/PC cross play and a bunch more. I'm going to throw this out there and say I'm all for post launch support for Tekken as it keeps things fresh and exciting and makes people come back for new content. Whether it is small things like new costumes & customizations or maybe something big like a game expansion that adds more Street Fighter characters turning it into Tekken X Street Fighter. (Don't go wild with that idea please internet, I'm not saying they're going to do that haha.) And of course, hearing that Harada himself is a big PC gamer and that all features that you can come to expect from a standard PC game are to be expected is very reassuring news for the PC version in comparison to certain other games with poor quality PC ports in recent times. This is getting quite lengthy so I'll stop here but you can catch the whole interview over on Bandai Namco's Fight channel:

Tekken 7 Developers On New Features, Character Styles, And Not Charging For In-Game Items
Siliconera recently caught up with Tekken 7 Producer Katsuhiro Harada and designer Michael Murry who shared more on what’s new in the fighter, character styles, and heir process on deciding when to charge for DLC.
How has Tekken 7’s combat system changed from Tekken Tournament 2?
Michael Murry, Game Designer: Did you notice there is a new move? I think the community is calling it “tailspin” now. You could do a spinning kick and send a character into a tail spin. Each character has a few of those. There are properties quite different from bounds. Tailspins go a little further away and towards the wall, the wall mechanics of what are bounds and tailspins is quite different, as well. The game overall has been kind of tuned to not have these extremely long combos. That is something we tried to dial back a little bit.
The rage art system also gives players a chance for a huge comeback. I was able to knock another player out who had 75% health when I was down to less than 20% using a well-timed rage art.
Katsuhiro Harada, Producer: That’s a new mechanic that isn’t in Tekken 7 arcades yet since we’re about to release a new update called Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, which is like Tekken 7.5. What you played in the console version is going to be on the latest version. In Tekken 7 for arcades, rage arts didn’t necessarily do that much damage, but now it depends on how much life you have. If you get into rage and do a rage art it might not do that much damage. But, if you only have a little bit of life left it will do much more damage. It depends on how much health you have.
Did you make this change to have big comebacks in battles?
KH: Originally, rage was added to have a tense feeling through a match all the way to the end. Also we had hoped it would be used as a comeback mechanic, but it turned out that some people didn’t see it positively like that. They thought a comeback should be up to a player’s skill level. After a few years, people started to see the value in it and taking the new rage arts made it seem easier to use not just for advanced players, but beginners as well. You’ll see how each player uses the rage mechanic itself differs on both of those categories.
Tekken character ideas usually came from looking at fighting styles around the world. How did you come up with characters like Lucky Chloe and Shaheen?
KH: In the past, each character was based on a famous fighting style. More recently, not so much. You have these different characters like Lucky Chole and Shaheen, like you mentioned. Rather than focus on different fighting styles it’s more about how they are controlled and how they play.
With Lucky Chloe, we wanted to attract an audience that might not play Tekken. For her, it was focused on input – the rhythm and timing. Timing that correctly might have moves connect to each other or increase the power of her rage arts to appeal to a different audience.
What can you tell us about the character roster for Tekken 7 on consoles? Will it be expanded beyond Tekken 7: Fated Retribution?
KH: That’s something we can’t answer right now. We can say that Fated Retribution won’t be released and just done. We will be releasing additional characters, but we can’t say who, how many or if there will be any additions on consoles.
So far, in Tekken 7, comical characters like Kuma and Roger Jr. aren’t in the game. Tekken Revolution also mentioned some other unique characters from Tekken 3 like a praying mantis and flopping salmon that could have been added into the PS3 game. Will we see any of the non-human characters return or any of these unique characters in Tekken 7?
KH: It’s very difficult. They were part of Tekken and we’ve seen when they’re not there we have a lot of fans who say those characters are what made Tekken interesting we want to see them again. But, if we do introduce them, we get another side of the community who says, “What’s your problem? Why are you putting animals into my proper fighting game?” Then the people who got the animal characters are happy and they become quiet, but then the voices saying, “What’s your problem why are these crazy characters in the game?” are left. It’s very hard and it’s something we would like to think in depth about.
With these two different groups, what do you think Tekken is? Is it serious, realistic fighting or crazy fun?
KH: That’s a difficult question to answer too because fighting games often try different things and action games as whole also have serious elements as well as lighthearted or comical ones, but that doesn’t make the game either or. It is something that changes depending on the perspective of who is viewing it, so it is kind of hard to say.
Even if you are trying to create a game serious or realistic it may not seem that way because after all it’s a game. Those of you with girlfriends or wives probably have had the experience where someone is watching from the side – even though you are wrapped up in this serious, realistic game and they are like, “What is that? That is crazy! That would never happen!” It depends on the perspective.
Tekken 7 in the arcades has a crafting system where you can create items to customize your character. Will this crafting system be in the console version and will there be microtransactions similar to the arcade game? There are some lighthearted costumes players can make with this system too.
MM: Which are often liked and often hated. [Laughs].
KH: Even in the arcades there is Tekken.Net, which is a separate service where you can pay for additional more features. The way this feature works in Japan where players can pay to have a higher chance to get rare items is different from Korea. The company that runs that is a different one and the way they have their monetization whether it’s playing the game more often to get something or paying to get it quicker is different from the Japanese version.
We can’t say anything concrete for consoles, but we could say we aren’t going to make you pay for something in the game. If it’s something not in the game like a Karin costume from Street Fighter V which wasn’t originally intended and everyone wants us to make it. If we end up making it later we would have to pay Capcom royalties and in that instance it would be DLC or something. Monetization just to unlock something in the game isn’t something we’re thinking about.
Although, we can’t detail the system a good way to judge it would be if it’s something that costs more than the original game budget to create it would be DLC. If it was within the original game’s budget then it wouldn’t cost the users anything extra.
You also made a very different fighting game recently, Pokkén Tournament. What did you learn from making that game?
KH: The development of Pokkén Tournament and Tekken 7 was pretty much simultaneous. One thing that was interesting in Pokkén Tournament is we noticed many players would guard and it was hard to tell if they were guarding or not. There was an effect added to show when a player was continuously guarding common to all characters. If there was something we could do for Tekken visually to show what kind of situation was going on, whether they were ducking or in crouching guard maybe it might make the game easier to understand.
Pokkén Tournament is interesting since it may have brought players who never thought of playing a fighting game into the genre.
KH: Pokkén Tournament was designed to be a new kind of Pokémon game for Pokémon fans. That group came to Pokkén rather than a general audience. Many times people say there are more fans or less fans in the fighting game genre, but there is always a core group of fans that come along. From the PS1 era where Tekken 3 sold many, many copies it wasn’t that the fan base that increased then, it was that technology increased to showcase polygon models. Fighting games were just one way to showcase that. People were attracted to the latest technology and we saw a huge influx into genre. When that isn’t the latest trend the number of players dissipates. That occurs and reoccurs. Rather than trying to change the mechanics or fundamentals to bring new players in, I feel it is better to focus on unique characters and storylines.

Not charging for in game items is a welcome change. I do like the option however although if they're easy to acquire it won't be an issue.

'I think SF players might try Tekken 7 for Akuma' - Tekken champ JDCR talks Tekken 7's lowered barrier of entry, Akuma's inclusion, arcades and more
Contrary to the other interviews posted before (and the ones that will be posted after) this one, our latest interview had no relation to DreamHack Summer 2016 at all.
In fact, South Korean Tekken champion JDCR was at Headstomper 2016, a tournament that took place in southern Sweden at the beginning of June this year, through which I managed to get the opportunity to interview him.
In this interview, JDCR talks about Namco-Bandai's aim to lower Tekken's barrier of entry, if the addition of Akuma will bring Street Fighter players into the Tekken scene, what the arcade scene means for the game and much more.
MajinTenshinhan: It's been said that Tekken 7 is the easiest Tekken game so far, while still maintaining a pretty solid level of difficulty the series is known for. Do you think lowering the barrier of entry will help more people start playing Tekken at a serious level?
JDCR: I definitely think so. Tekken has been a special fighting game since it's one of the few 3D games among fighting games, but at the same time there's always been a barrier for those who want to try and play it seriously, because most fighting games are in 2D, and most players are used to playing in 2D which is a lot easier.
There are also so many characters in Tekken, and each character has more than 100 moves each. It's natural for new players to feel that there's a big barrier preventing them from getting into Tekken. People prefer easy games because they want to win, and understand why they lost when they lose.
It seems like Namco understood this point as well, and they want to fix the problem. So, I believe it's a very good effort by Namco, and that people will like it.
MajinTenshinhan: It was a pretty big deal for many, especially Street Fighter players, to see Akuma added to Tekken 7: Fated Retribution. How do you think Akuma fits in the Tekken engine, and do you think more Street Fighter players might start playing Tekken because of his inclusion?
JDCR: At first, it looked a little bit awkward because he's from such another game, but watching all the videos of him so far, he looks really cool now. It looks like Namco made him fit really well in Tekken.
I haven't played him since the game isn't out yet, but new characters are always welcome for me and they always have perfect balance in the game, so I'm looking forward to playing him.
I think Street Fighter players might try Tekken 7: Fated Retribution with Akuma. So far, there's no Akuma in Street Fighter 5, so I guess many people miss him, haha.
MajinTenshinhan: Namco-Bandai are making sure that the arcade scene for the Tekken series is being taken care of, with Tekken 7 having been playable in arcades for a very long time now, and Fated Retribution to soon take over.
How important do you think having an arcade scene is to keep a competitive fighting game alive?
JDCR: This is kind of difficult to answer, but interesting. I think arcades have pros and cons. I will start by talking about the negative aspects.
What I don't like about arcades is that sometimes it can cause problems when we have tournaments. In Korea, we don't have standard sticks or buttons for arcades, meaning that every arcade uses different ones. So, sometimes you have to play in a tournament with a stick and buttons that you've never tried before. I think this is kind of unfair.
Watching other famous events and fighting games, I think that console is a theoretically fair environment for players, in terms of tournaments, especially when we want to have a competitive scene.
At the same time, it's also true that arcades keep the competitive scene alive, because the arcade is where everybody comes to meet up and play, spend time with their friends. Arcades also have their own special hype that online play on consoles don't really have.
So, arcades are necessary to keep the scene and it attracts new players more than console versions do.
This question actually reminds me of one article about Daigo Umehara, a Street Fighter pro. I saw that he's unsure if Street Fighter 5 will still be played next year, since there's no arcade version of the game. So, he thinks arcades are necessary, too.
In conclusion, I think that arcades are necessary, especially for Tekken, because the Tekken scene is much smaller than other fighting game scenes. Personally, though, I think that the Korea arcade scene is going to disappear, because it's not a reasonable business model from the owner's perspective.
MajinTenshinhan: South Korea has generally been at a very high level in Tekken, higher than most of the rest of the world. Why do you think it is that so many players from South Korea have been able to rise so high in Tekken, moreso than people from most other countries?
JDCR: I think it's because of the arcade scene. Unlike other countries that don't have arcades, in Korea, people come to the arcade and meet eachother and hang out outside of just playing the game.
I think hanging out with other players is a really good way to improve, rather than just playing the game locally or online. Similarily to Korea, Japan has a lot of high level players since they have a huge arcade scene as well.
MajinTenshinhan: Although the game has only been available in location tests so far, what characters do you think seem to be particularly good or bad in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution?
JDCR: The location tests were pretty short, so not sure I can answer this question well. Also, I think that the test and the real game that comes later are going to be different ... so I have no idea about this question, haha.
MajinTenshinhan: Are there any Tekken characters that aren't in 7 that you hope to see added to the game later on?
JDCR: I want to see Armor King, because he used to be my main until Tekken Tag Tounrmanet 2. I don't think he will be in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution though, because to be honest, there are better characters than him in terms of game story and appearance, haha.
Also, I want to see Raven. He's one of the coolest characters in the Tekken series.

Topanga? Oh you must mean Matanga League for Tekken! In Tokyo city, Matador's "Matanga League" took place recently which featured the heavy hitting regulars of Koenji's Cube arcade battle it out in first to 10 sets. The players within the leagues are some of the strongest players you can find in Japan like Furumizu, Matador & Yanpan making these some really good matches to watch. The remaining players in the league are Rage, Hasukyon, Marubana and Manba and they're no slouches either. All the footage from Matanga League was streamed live on Twitch but they are now available for people to watch on the Koenji Cube Youtube channel.
