Tekken 7 Director Addresses Input Lag Controversy, Discusses Additional Characters
It's been a long time since we've seen a numbered entry in the main Tekken series. Tekken 6 was released for consoles in 2009, was followed by the non-canonical Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in 2012, and then by the PlayStation 3-exclusive, free-to-play Tekken Revolution in 2013.
Tekken 7 will bring the series to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC for the first time, and introduce a number of new characters, including a series-first crossover in the form of Street Fighter's Akuma.
Capcom's Street Fighter 5 has been under fire from players recently, who claim that the game's input lag on the PS4 version is a major problem. The company addressed player concerns in a blog post last month, saying it was "looking into the reports."
GameSpot interviewed Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada, who shared his thoughts on the topic, specifically in relation to the upcoming Tekken 7:
"Since when did everyone become so knowledgeable about input lag? If everyone is so sensitive to this, of course you know exactly how many frames of input lag there were in past titles? I have a feeling many people are just prone to being swayed by popular catchwords. I have a question for everyone. In the 90s, how many frames of input lag did Virtua Fighter have? How about Tekken?" Harada said.
"People have never complained about input lag in Tekken before, have they? Tag 2 was highly regarded, wasn’t it? Do you think input lag frames is a certain number? Do you understand how it works? The actual mechanism is different depending on the game. If Tekken’s gameplay feels good, is there really a point in asking this question?
"It’s quite frustrating to keep hearing this question, when it is hardly relevant. Don’t try to sum up the whole of a game’s mechanics with one catchphrase. Tekken 7 is the first arcade fighting game to have online play between arcades around the country. It costs roughly $1 per play. Do you really think it would be this successful and well received if everyone was complaining about input lag?
"Abroad, many top players have had many chances to play TK7 and TK7FR at Wizard World, Evo, and other events. I haven’t heard any complaints about input lag from them either. Same with the hardcore players and media that played the game at E3. I think that is your answer. By the way, what is the monitor you use at home to play games? I would be more concerned about the possibility of lag on that, instead."
When asked whether any additional characters who would be added after launch, Harada confirmed that the roster shown at E3 was "not the full one at this time." He added, "I can’t say if there is DLC or not at this time."
As for hope for any returning characters who have yet to be confirmed (Miguel, Zafina, Bruce, etc.) Harada simply responded, "No comment."

You don't want a lot of input lag, but it does seem to be something people throw around a lot nowadays.

Tekken 7 Fated Retribution - Akuma Video Round-Up
Where do we even begin with such a character. Here be a video round up of all the news and character info to come out of the Tekken 7 Fated Retribution launch in Japanese and Korean arcades this week. This will hopefully help make you understand why Akuma is creating a ruckus in a Tekken game. Good luck at Evo.
▌Shoryuken ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄
10f launcher with meter. Even without meter it's extremely good because it's a knockdown 10f punish. It combos from a jab so you can buffer the motion from it like f+1 ~ d~d/f+1
Light Shoryuken is 10f start-up with no invincibility. Heavy Shoryuken is 13f start-up but has invincibility from around the 8th frame.
▌Akuma Death Combos ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄
Having 2 bars of meter and Rage is easy to fulfill for Akuma players.
Worth mentioning though: (Saving Attack refers to focus attack here)
Akuma LPLP is not guarantee. so Saving Cancle -> LPLP hadouken is no combo. but Saving Cancle -> RP hadouken is OK. Saving Cancle -> 15F OK
— 무릎! 이젠 철권뿐이야 (@holyknee) July 8, 2016 Akuma LPLP is only Counter guarantee.
— 무릎! 이젠 철권뿐이야 (@holyknee) July 8, 2016 Akuma death Combo need Change. LPLP hadouken -> RP Hadouken
— 무릎! 이젠 철권뿐이야 (@holyknee) July 8, 2016 ▌Akuma Wall Combos ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄
These next two videos are interesting because d/f+1,1 into Air Tatsu is a guaranteed tech catch at the wall. CPU Heihachi is set to tech then guard all here:
From the tweet: Demon Flip throw at the wall into d+3 is guaranteed. You can d+3 → Shoryuken → FADC backwards to get a wall combo. His ff+4 kick will also spike the opponent down making Shoryuken guaranteed.
I don't know what's going on here. If you FADC a Shakunetsu Hadouken (The hcb fireball) and then do a wr+1 or a d+3, it becomes unblockable and they will get wallsplatted.
▌Akuma Combos ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄

T7FR - Video of Every Character's New Moves (Except Katarina)
Suteki on his twitter page has been regularly uploading video snippets of all the character's new moves in Tekken 7 Fated Retribution. As of now, a full compilation video of all the changes have been put together on YouTube and this will be a much more easier way to see all the new moves plus extra combos. I'm not sure if there's any new moves missing but it looks like the video goes off from the character movelist pdf files that were uploaded on the T7FR website. Thanks for the hard work and also if you're interested, there's a T7FR Yoshimitsu combo video on his YouTube page too.

Here are new customization images, tweets (including triggered IGN staff), & update about corpse kicking from avoiding the puddle:
Harada Teases 'Great Idea' for Corpse Kicking in T7 FR
Correction added. When I initially wrote this up, I presumed that since Harada brought up both sides for corpse kicking that he meant the new method would be one that one please both sides. This was not the case. He just stated that there's a new ('画期的' was used to describe it.) structure in place put into T7 FR for corpse kicking after hearing both the majority and minority side's opinion on the matter. You'll still have to wait for T7 FR to see what it is.

Harada & Murray Stream Q&A Session During Evo Day 1
EVO 2016 is well underway with Tekken 7 finals starting in a hour from now but during the Tekken stream for Day 1, Michael Murray and Katsuhiro Harada were both briefly on commentary and answering questions from the stream chat. It wasn't too long of a session though but there's multiple points of interest in regards to Tekken 7 that you may have missed if you didn't happen to catch it live. The session begins at around the 2 hour, 40 minute and 30 second mark of this Twitch archive but I have written most of the topics from the session down below if you want to just read it.
xhttps://www.twitch.tv/tekken/v/78189733
▌Q&A Session Summary ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄
Murray: "No stoners allowed in Japan."
Japanese National Tournament Last year we had the King Of Iron Fist Tournament and it was held in our office in Tokyo so for this year they announced in June that we're having a King Of Iron Fist Tournament 2016. The top two from EVO 2016 will be brought out again to compete in the tournament in Japan at the end of the year. There's qualifiers in Japan for the event in various parts of Japan. Other then that there is not much else to say at the moment. Perhaps looking into a way to link it to the tournaments in the US or find something to do for European players because we do want to make it more global. Hopefully more details for you guys later.
Can you please include move type explanations in the movelist (Launchers, homing etc.) Maybe. I think for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 we had that in the movelist so for that, I think there's a good chance.
Release Date (Tekken 7) Early 2017. That's all we have for you at the moment.
Tekken Tunes It's pretty difficult for PS4 system. Because of the way you incorporate music into the consoles (With USB storage or Hard disk.) You could do that for PS3 but for PS4, we'd have to find another way. So I don't know. It's pretty difficult this time.
Will there be Tekken 4 costumes for Tekken 7? Harada mentioned that Tekken 4 costumes were not popular. Murray said he liked Tekken 5 and Harada said Tekken 5 was popular.
Who's the best character? Harada answered with "Feng is best for me." Katarina if you're a beginner player with Murray pointing out the easy inputs and Akuma is good for Street Fighter players. (Street Fighter 4 ver.) He also has some Tekken only moves in Tekken 7. (while standing attacks for example)
We want a Steam Beta Murray: I know a lot of people have recently been saying this. I think Street Fighter did this where you pre-ordered before the game's release.
"I would like to but, it's difficult. Because we have to stop development to do that. If (Tekken 7) was scheduled for maybe fall or winter of next year then maybe but it's early so it doesn't give us a whole lot of time."
Where's Tekken Ball Harada made that mode about 20 years ago. Harada wants something new, maybe new game or such.
Murray: "Tekken Golf might be fun haha"
Can you please include Frame Data (in-game) This is often asked, we should probably explain why we don't. This discussion has came up a lot in the past but some of reasons why we didn't do it was because, it might seem like the game was daunting to new players who feel they have to learn all of these numbers and also we wanted players to explore the game to find it out like with combos when you first pick it up so if you just boil it down to numbers right away, we're worried that that might take away from the game. I mean when you are talking about a large audience. Obviously we do understand the players that do go to tournaments or these kind of 'Pros' would really like the data so Harada was saying that frame data is not something everyone is wanting.
Murray: "So I don't know, maybe if it was added as DLC like if you had to pay for it, then we could perhaps satisfy that type of crowd. So it's not totally off the table I guess you could say."
Harada's argument was that you buy Strategy guides right? So why not the frame data. (That could be the real Harada or the troll Harada haha.)
Do you play Pokemon Go? That's a big thing at the moment but it's not out in Japan right now. So all you guys on Twitter are all going crazy about the stuff and we want to play but it's not out yet. Maybe this month.
Will there be a full Practice mode in online mode while waiting for matches? Murray: "We know it's a good idea so it could be possible."
Unlockable characters Murray: "All we can say for the characters though is that, this isn't all of them that we've shown off yet so there's stuff to look forward too.
Bring back past Tekken games to PC That's a very popular comment we see. We realize that ports of the previous titles to PC would be something you guys would like but the thing that's slowing us down if we were to do it is that a lot of the code (for older Tekken games) were written for proprietary boards on older PlayStation architecture and the games themselves were PlayStation only for quite some time so it's not a PC base like it is now. It would take some time to port these titles and our resources are currently busy with making the console versions of this game (Tekken 7.)
Murray: "We realize it's something you guys would like to see but it's difficult at the moment."
About Arcade Sticks on Tekken 7 boards The boards currently support PS4 arcade sticks, PS4 DualShocks and 360 controllers. No Xbox One and PS3 sticks either. For PS4 it's not for all the sticks because the drivers change periodically like in previous Tekken tours events where the MadCatz TE2 stick would work but not the TE2+ with the touchpad so we had to update it recently and now for tournaments those work. For the most part we have most of the major sticks covered like the Horis but there are a few that still don't work and in that case we do have sticks on deck that you can borrow.
Arcade Stick compatibility on Tekken 7 consoles For consoles it's a different story, we'll have more information on that later. I know for Street Fighter V and Skullgirls they used a driver that was put out for older arcade sticks to use so we are looking into it and I'll have more details on that when we have that locked down.
Harada-san how much did you pay for your glasses? Harada: "I paid over $2000 dollars for my sunglasses. I have 6 sunglasses."

Yes Raven is a guy, Master Raven is completely different she is kinda like with NyoTengu where she is a female counterpart of Tengu (Bankotsubo) and Kunimitsu is a female Yoshimitsu. Raven group are part of a Intelligence Agent.

Bandai Namco's Fighting Games Panel at SD-CC 2016 Once again Bandai Namco put together a Fighting Games Panel at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend to have discussions with the fans on their fighting game franchises. For the Tekken side, new Tekken related merchandise were made available to buy including a new $450 'Tekken Sukajan' jacket that has reversible sides with distinct artwork. For Soul Calibur, this was merely a discussion with the fans so I hope you didn't expect some crazy new announcements (haha.) T7FR New Character Bob out in Arcades on August 9! Master Raven in September The official Japanese Tekken 7 Fated retribution stream just finished and we have news on the newly announced characters coming to the game. Bob will be added to the character roster via an update to arcades on August 9 which is the Tuesday next week. Master Raven will take slightly longer to come out with her addition set to arrive sometime in September. Alongside this news, demonstrations of these two characters in the training mode as well as balance changes coming to the game were shown off and video footage is up. The full change-log of all the balance updates is coming in the near future on the Tekken-Official website and I'll post it up when it's available. Bandai Namco on Tekken 7: Fans “Want a Full Fleshed Out Single Player Experience;” New Fighters Coming
There has been a lot of discussion on whether a single player story is important in a fighting game, and Bandai Namco Games America Brand Manager Mark Religioso told DualShockers during an event in New York that the single player story is definitely a focal point for the upcoming console version of Tekken 7.
What we’re kinda seeing now with the trends in fighting games, is that fans want more than the core fighting experience, they also want a full fleshed-out single player experience, which is why we’re pursuing story mode so hard in this game.
We’re really integrating it in a special way where it goes from in-game cinematics to actual gameplay with a lot of dialogue between characters, so you can really experience and feel that story.
Incidentally, Religioso also teased that the character roster we have so far is not final, and they’ll have “more competitors entering the ring soon.”

Tekken 7 Interview: Brand Manager Talks Single Player Story, Netcode, Teases New Character Announcements
Tekken 7 is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC early next year, and DualShockers had a chat with Bandai Namco Brand Manager Mark Religioso during a preview event in New York.
Religioso talked about fighting game trends, and how the publisher sees that players don’t want just the core multiplayer experience, but also a full fledged single player story. He also confirmed that Tekken X Street Fighter is on development hold, and explained how the arcade release could be considered like a beta to deliver a polished game on consoles.
Last but not least, he also teased how new characters may be announced soon. Check the full interview below.

Tekken 7 Game Designer on Cross-Platform Play “Please Ask Sony”
Responding to a fan request about Tekken 7 cross-platform play on Twitter, Game Designer Michael Murray responded asking that he “ask Sony. [Microsoft] already publicly said they’re interested in cross platform.”
This comes months after Microsoft announced in April of this year that they were prepared to utilize cross-platform play between their Xbox Live service and Sony’s PlayStation Network.
Murray also explained why customization items from Tekken 5 and Tekken 6 will not be in Tekken 7, as they would have to be created from scratch due to the new engine being used.

Cross platform play would be awesome. If Xbox and the PC do it I don't see why Sony would keep it to themselves. It would look back and fighting games are really niche. Incidentally, Religioso also teased that the character roster we have so far is not final, and they’ll have “more competitors entering the ring soon.” Source: dualshockers More content is always good.

T7FR - Updated List of Moves that Beat Akuma's Fireballs
You may remember a bit back that a list of all the moves that would avoid (override / go under or through etc) Akuma's fireballs in Tekken 7 Fated Retribution was posted up online but that was from an earlier build of the game. Tekken-Official website today posted an updated version of the list and what's included now is a section of moves that some Tekken characters can do that will neutralize the fireball on collision with the Tekken move. The best example off the top of my head to indicate this is if you were to watch the extended E3 2016 trailer for Tekken 7 and seeing Kazuya's EWGF on Akuma's fireball.

T7FR - Video of Akuma's High Damaging Combos
Tatsuo on twitter has been going crazy lately recording a bunch of absurdly high damage combos from Tekken 7 Fated Retribution. His latest upload on his channel is a compilation of his recent Akuma combos and it just shows once again how absurd his combo damage is, especially near the wall. With that said, these combos mainly use full meter and the Raging Demon so this is proof of concept of the optimal combos Akuma can get should the player perform it right. Focus Attack combos, jump ins, wallsplats, wall carries, infinite stage combos etc, there's plenty there.

T7FR - Most of the Characters New Moves with Frame Data
I say most because only Nina and Akuma are missing here. Apart from that, Ika on twitter has slowly been churning out videos of most of the character's new moves and have frame data notes added along with them. He's now done with all the characters he's tested and uploaded everything from his twitter into 3 part videos on his channel. There's a balance update coming to arcades tomorrow with Bob so keep in mind some things here might change but I doubt there's going to be any big changes.

T7FR - Bob Gameplay Videos From Arcade Update
Tekken 7 Fated Retribution added the new character Bob to the roster through an online update pushed to arcades on August 9 and since then, both Japanese and Korean arcades have been streaming footage of his gameplay on Twitch. While there's now an abundance of videos to sift through, I went and cherry picked some of the more interesting videos here for those looking to see what's he like in the new game.

I'm looking forward to give Heihachi & Gouki the fundoshi costumes. Since I like to customize stuff or give them outfits based off previous Tekken games.
