The truth hurts.
I'll summarize my own thoughts:
Starter jobs are for young people. Not for people much older who are trying to raise a family. You increase your skills before you do that.
Increasing the minimum wage only hurts the people who need the opportunity, which are young people. The minimum wage was encouraged by white unions in the US to keep less skilled black people from getting jobs, so they could charge much more.
The reason that people have such a low standard of living now is because of government. More inflation and less opportunity won't be fixed by the minimum wage. It'll only make things worse.
If you are still at a low skill job after such a long period of time, you have nobody but yourself to blame. Clearly you have not been providing enough value to your employer and by extension your own customers to warrant a higher pay. If you feel you aren't making enough, go to other interviews and see what you can make. If nobody is willing to pay you more, then you don't provide enough value.
