Street Fighter 5 Season 2 servers going down for scheduled maintenance tomorrow Street Fighter 5 Season 2's servers will be going offline tomorrow (Tuesday, January 17th) for scheduled maintenance. Players will be unable to access the game's online modes from 9 a.m. PDT / 12 p.m. EDT to 2 p.m. PDT / 5 p.m. EDT. There is no official word on the maintenance from Capcom's official social media channels just yet, so we are currently unsure if this downtime is in preparation for something new or simply routine service. Street Fighter 5 Season 2 login issues after recent maintenance have been fixed, Capcom currently investigating LP reset bug Street Fighter 5 underwent routine server maintenance on Tuesday this week. Though the upkeep was likely put into action simply to keep things on the up and up, it unfortunately introduced a couple of problems for users. The official SFV Server Twitter account sent out quick statements on these matters last night. Firstly, Capcom has been able to confirm that some players were having trouble logging into the server after the maintenance and the issue has since been fixed. Those who have been hit with the unwarranted LP reset will have to hang tight, as the bug is still under investigation. As soon as we have more information on a fix, we will update this story. Time to collect 6,600 FM with this week's missions - Here's how to complete 'We Salute Thee, Four Kings' and other missions Another batch of missions to complete for some easy Fight Money. This week, 6,600 fight money can be yours with a session of matches. Like the previous weeks, three out of the four challenges are self explanatory and straight forward, while there is a 5,000 FM challenge that is cryptic. This week's mysterious challenge is called "We Salute Thee, Four Kings" and it does NOT involve the background NPCs this time. Let's cover how it's done. We Salute Thee, Four Kings: Go to the "Shadaloo Base" stage. Make sure you are playing as either M. Bison, Vega, Balrog, or F.A.N.G. Simply win the match and earn your reward of 5,000 FM. www.eventhubs.com/images/2017/jan/20/we-salute-thee-four-kings-mission/Perform a normal throw 10 times(s): Perform 10 throws in either Ranked, Casual, or Battle Lounge matches. This will earn you 100 FM. Clear trials #01-#05 consecutively: Go into challenges and complete missions #01-#05 consecutively with any character. You'll earn 1,000 FM for doing so. Play training mode: Simply start up the training mode in order to earn an additional 500 FM. Source: eventhubs

Hilarious bug in Street Fighter 5 allows players to play as the Season 1 version of their character in ranked mode So this bug was apparently discovered during PR Balrog's stream while he was playing as Balrog. PR Balrog found himself unable to successfully complete a dragon punch motion. A player of PR Balrog's caliber may miss the input from time to time, maybe once every hundred or a thousand times, but to be unable to complete the motion even one time would be unheard of. This was the moment in which PR Balrog realized that he was completely unable to perform the Screw Smash via the dragon punch motion. Warning: NSFW language. www.eventhubs.com/images/2017/jan/08/cant-perform-screw-smash-dragon-punch-motion/Recall that one of the changes made from Season 1 to Season 2 for Balrog was the change to his Screw Smash input. It went from being a charge motion to a dragon punch motion. With this change in mind, there'd be no reason to think that the old charge input would work during a ranked match. PR Balrog decided to experiment during the match where he was unable to successfully perform a Screw Smash. He decided to see if he could perform it with the old Season 1 inputs. This is what happened. www.eventhubs.com/images/2017/jan/08/performs-screw-smash-charge-motion/Balrog's Screw Smash was only accepting the Season 1 inputs in order to be performed. It could only be performed through the charge motion rather than the newly implemented dragon punch motion. In other words, PR Balrog was playing as the Season 1 version of Balrog during a Season 2 ranked match. It is being theorized that this bug occurs when the player is disconnected during the loading process before a match begins. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Player scams their way to top of Street Fighter 5 online leaderboards, video footage captures their cheating in action A new player has climbed to the top of the Street Fighter 5 leaderboards, but it seems they've done so via unscrupulous methods. As you'll see in the images below, Best_Korea has suddenly jumped to a whopping 55,132 LP, beating out the actual top player, Wolfkrone, by nearly 20k points. The player's battle log shows victories for the last 50 matches they've played in: It seems this player has figured out a way to have losses marked as wins and LP attributed accordingly. You'll see footage of Best Korea's cheating in action below. As word spreads, Capcom will surely rectify the situation. In the meantime, should you come across Best_Korea online, don't expect things to end well. Source: eventhubs

'Please fix the server immediately' - Street Fighter community petitions for Capcom to fix SF5's online play, already have over 1,000 signatures If you're a regular Street Fighter 5 online player, chances are good you heard an all too familiar "ba-bum" noise in your head when you saw the error message in the banner above. While SF5's online play has received a handful of positive tweaks and updates since the game's initial release last February, it seems much of the community is still unsatisfied with their network experiences. Japanese player Agomi79 has vocalized this by starting a petition asking Capcom to make the changes the community desperately wants. You can read his plea below. SF5 Petition Street Fighter 5 has been released in February 2016. It has been almost one year, but the network system is still horrible and the network connection always shut down everyday. If you are a Street Fighter 5 user, you get frustrated everyday. Sometimes we don't get LP even through we win in ranked match. Also, all users got shut down together. We have no idea when and how Capcom will fix its network errors. We don't even know if they try to solve. We just cannot wait anymore. But we wanna enjoy more with this game. We wanna play this game forever. We are fighting game fans! So, we need to change it! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fans want Capcom to add in-game frame data for Street Fighter 5; why it would be a good idea and why there may actually be some hope on that front Recently, it was revealed that the Prima Games guide for Street Fighter 5 will not be updating for Season 2. The new characters and frame data changes will not be noted in the Prima guide. With this in mind, it will get a little more difficult to figure out the exact frame data of moves as a new Season hits the scene. Also, it will pretty much be completely up to the players to figure out the frame data for newer characters. This got me thinking that Capcom should consider incorporating in-game frame data at the pause menu. This should be exactly like how Iron Galaxy Studios handles Killer Instinct and how Netherrealm Studios handles the Mortal Kombat and Injustice series. There is a huge degree of convenience of being able to access the frame data of a fighting game within the game itself. Sometimes, it just isn't convenient enough to pull up a physical or digital guide in order to access such information. Adding frame data to the pause menu would improve the experience for newcomers and veterans of the series alike. I can't imagine any type of player that would actually be opposed to this concept. I imagine that the only thing getting in the way of Capcom's inclusion of in-game frame data was a deal with Prima Games. With them announcing over Twitter that they will not be updating for Season 2 (and likely onwards), this gives Capcom a prime opportunity to add a unanimously beneficial feature for the entire community. This would greatly improve the already impressive training room options contained in Street Fighter 5. Rather than trying to figure out which moves punish what through trial and error, players can simply look up the information at the pause screen. True, players can already look up an online source for this information but as I previously already mentioned, it would be far more convenient to have this option available within the game itself. Iron Galaxy Studios and Neatherrealm Studios have both been praised for their inclusion of in-game frame data that have helped level up their communities dramatically. This is an idea that's been proven to be very good without any downsides for the community. It's not as though Capcom is trying to hide their frame data for "trade secret" reasons, as they regularly advertise frame changes when they occur during patches, such as the Season 2 patch. I'm personally not aware of anything that could hinder Capcom from doing this, now that Prima Games will no longer be updating their Street Fighter 5 guide (digital or physical). Capcom is now in a position to add something that has been proven to work in other fighting games. Assuming Capcom isn't seeking another deal with another company to keep the guide updated, the only real downside to Capcom is having to research the information within their own game. They would have to update the menu after every patch. Much to the favor of this idea, this would not be too daunting of a task to upkeep the accuracy of the frame data every year. Making frame data more easily accessible would, in my opinion, do very great things for all parts of the community. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Glitch in Street Fighter 5 turns characters and stages into shadow versions of themselves Akuma's Raging Demon is so evil that it can send entire stages into a shadow realm. Player Brawl Karter shared with us a video wherein he found that if you set your Street Fighter 5 training dummy to perform a wake up option during Akuma's Raging Demon animation, the stage your playing on will become a shadow version of itself. Both playable and background characters become silhouettes and the lighting dims down, though certain character features like Necalli's hair in V-Trigger seem to be somewhat immune. We tested this out ourselves and found that it does indeed work. Furthermore, if you quick reset Training Mode the lighting will go from full blackout to a dimmed version. Here are some screen shots we nabbed: Source: eventhubs

There is 8,600 FM up for grabs as we pay homage to Sagat - Here's how to complete 'The Rumored Four Kings Statue' and other missions Another Friday, another batch of missions to complete for some easy Fight Money. This week, 8,600 fight money can be yours with a session of matches. Like the previous weeks, three out of the four challenges are self explanatory and straight forward, while there is a 5,000 FM challenge that is cryptic. This week, there is a 5,000 FM challenge and a 3,000 FM challenge, but the 3,000 FM challenge is pretty self explanatory on how to complete. Let's cover how it's done. The Rumored Four Kings Statue: We specifically need to see the statue of Sagat's statue in the Lair of the Four Kings stage in order to complete this challenge. During F.A.N.G.'s story prologue, we are able to see the statue of Sagat as we fight M. Bison. Simply complete a match against M. Bison during F.A.N.G.'s story prologue in order to acquire the 5,000 FM prize. Use a combo 10 time(s): Perform 10 combos in either Ranked, Casual, or Battle Lounge matches. This will earn you 100 FM. Win 10 Casual Matches: Wow, this mission is worth 3,000 FM. All you have to do is win 10 casual matches to complete the mission. Have Street Fighter V Complaints Gone Too Far? Michael Martin Thinks So
You can’t get on social media anymore without hearing constant complaints about Street Fighter V–unless you have excluded the gaming sphere of social media from your timeline altogether. Everyone has something to say, and it has become infectious.
But Michael Martin thinks the social media complaining has gone a bit too far. After briefly discussing Nintendo Switch titles on this episode of I Got Next, Martin discusses how counterproductive he views people complaining (but still going out to events), and challenges people complaining to “vote with their wallets,” and stop attending Street Fighter V events if they feel so negatively about the game itself.

Street Fighter 5 sees some new life as sales reach 1.5 million It seems Street Fighter 5 sales have not tapered off yet, as a the game continues slowly but surely make its way into more and more people's hands. After a rough launch, SF5 failed to hit its two million unit sales goal by the end of March 2016. In fact, the latest title from the mainstay fighting game franchise had only made it to 1.4 million copies sold by May of last year. Matters became even bleaker as this statistic would remain unchanged through October of last year. This meant SF5 failed to sell 100k copies in the six month time span between May and October. This led many to regard the game as done in terms of new sales, but it seems SF5 isn't quite finished yet. A recent visit to Capcom's Investor Relations site shows us that the newest Street Fighter has finally ticked up to 1.5 million copies sold. Not only this, but it's also jumped up a peg on Capcom's game sales ladder. You can see its current spot in the image below, as it's now sandwiched between two Capcom classics: Perhaps the Season 2 DLC will prompt more people to purchase Street Fighter 5 over the course of 2017. Should Capcom continue their development with new game modes alongside the upcoming character additions, a "Grand Re-releasing" of sorts could potentially be in order. Such a move would likely capture the attention of at least a portion of the casual market. Source: eventhubs

Get 6,800 FM in the first instance of a 5,000 FM mission repeat - Here's how to complete 'Sakura's Urgent Errand' (again) and other missions Another Friday, another batch of missions to complete for some easy Fight Money. This week, 6,800 fight money can be yours with a session of matches. Like the previous weeks, three out of the four challenges are self explanatory and straight forward, while there is a 5,000 FM challenge that... would've been cryptic had we not seen it before. This week's mysterious challenge is called "Sakura's Urgent Errand" and it involves a character story cutscene. Let's cover how it's done. Sakura's Urgent Errand: So this is actually a repeat mission from September. This is the first time that the 5,000 FM mission is a repeat. Very odd. This mission is actually pretty simple. All you have to do is play Karin's final cut scene from her character story mode. This cut scene has Sakura in it, but you don't have to wait until Sakura appears to collect your FM. No need to play any matches either. Perform a counter 10 time(s): Perform 10 counterhits in either Ranked, Casual, or Battle Lounge matches. This will earn you 300 FM. Win 10 Battle Lounge match(es): This mission is worth 1,000 FM. All you have to do is win 10 battle lounge matches to complete the mission. Use the Rival Search feature on CFN: Simply use the rival search feature on the CFN. Do so, and you'll instantly gain 500 FM. ... Last week's mission involved Sagat. Capcom shares unlisted Street Fighter 5 Season 2 balance changes and typo corrections, CFN update set for this Spring Capcom has released a blog entry over on Capcom Unity. This time, the company shares a handful of Street Fighter 5 Season 2 balance changes that weren't featured on the original balance change list. game.capcom.com/cfn/sfv/adjust2017/en/1.htmlIn addition to these omitted tweaks, we see corrections to a couple of the original change list entries, specifically for Karin and Ken. The blog goes on to say that the Street Fighter 5 development team has been working on improvements to the Capcom Fighters Network, and though no details can be shared at this time, they are aiming for a Spring update. And if you've been wondering whether or not Capcom has been keeping an eye on the game's balance, they have. The blog states that a monitoring of character performance has been in effect since the release of Season 2, and that they are currently analyzing the date to see if any additional adjustments may be needed. Check out the unlisted changes and typo corrections below. Back from the busy Capcom Cup 2016 schedule and the holidays, Haunts returns with some important info about what's to come. www.reddit.com/r/StreetFighter/comments/5q6xpx/comprehensive_list_of_issues_by_priority_round_2/dcza3qy/As we now know, the company is planning an update to the Capcom Fighters Network that is set to make improvements to the in-game feature and expected to drop this Spring. Haunts assures fans that the CFN is only the beginning. "There are going to be a lot of improvements to the game this year, starting with CFN," Haunts explained on Reddit. "Beyond that, I assure you I've sent the above issues to the dev team many times and you'll see more improvements and cool features/modes as the year goes on. I just don't have any exact timelines to share at the moment." www.reddit.com/r/StreetFighter/comments/5q6xpx/comprehensive_list_of_issues_by_priority_round_2/What this CFN update will entail is still a mystery, but with Spring not far away and the 2017 Capcom Pro Tour kicking off soon, it shouldn't be long before we get the full scoop. Haunts goes on to note that he has been vocal about many of the issues users are currently experiencing around the office and though it can be frustrating in the interim (even for him as a player), reminds fans that game development takes time. "We'll get there! The rest of the team cares tremendously about the game and we'll have more updates fairly soon," he said. But how soon is "soon"? According to the Capcom representative, we can expect new information about Street Fighter 5 Season 2 every other month or so. "Again, we'll have more news on the S2 characters, CFN/server improvements and more in the near future so stay tuned and thanks for the continued support," Haunts concluded. Source: eventhubs

'Expect Street Fighter 5 info drops from us roughly every other month' - Capcom promises to communicate with fans at least six times in 2017 Two days ago Capcom USA's Director of Digital Media and eSports, Neidel "Haunts" Crisan took to Reddit to announce to Street Fighter 5 fans that announcements are on their way. The community has expressed some distaste in the way Capcom has been relatively quiet when it comes to their current main stage fighting game. In his discussion on Reddit, Haunts promised more regular information drops in 2017. "To set expectations, expect info drops from us roughly every other month. It's tough to get out any meaningful news every single month so just keep that in mind," he wrote. So with the promise of communication roughly every other month, we're aiming for about six status updates over the course of this year. Will that be enough to satisfy fans? According to Haunts this will include character releases, (of which there are to be five more this season) which could technically mean about the same amount of announcements we had in 2016. “I mean looking at the road map there isn't really a situation where there isn't info going out every other month," he continues. "This was pretty much the case last year too with the character releases. I guess if we don’t post something hit me up and ill let you guys know what rank I am in SF5. lol” It does seem Capcom understands the community is widely dissatisfied with current communication levels, so chances are good they will be upped. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Capcom: There will be a lot of updates over the next year people will be happy about - let's look at what Street Fighter 5 has coming down the pike Capcom USA's Director of Digital Media and eSports, Neidel "Haunts" Crisan, took to /r/StreetFighter to provide fans with an update on the state of Street Fighter 5 Season 2 and what's to come. We learned that the Capcom Fighters Network will be seeing an update this Spring. Haunts assured fans that this is only the tip of the iceberg and that there's more to come. “Don't wanna spill the beans on anything, but there will be a lot of updates over the next year people will be happy about. Sorry I can’t get into specifics -- I know these types of answers suck! “Basically the dev team is always considering all types of modes and updates but nothing to share right now.” In fact, we can expect new Street Fighter 5 Season 2 info roughly every other month, meaning at least six announcements throughout 2017. So, what's still to come in Street Fighter 5 Season 2? Let's talk about that. Five new characters: With the launch of Season 2, we received the first of six new DLC fighters. Akuma, the only returning face in this batch of characters, has been in the hands of the public for over a month now, and there are still five fresh faces on the way. As of right now, we are unsure who these DLC fighters are, but we do know that they have never been playable in a Street Fighter game before. We've seen much speculation about the identities of these characters, with people in the community actively trying to match up the silhouettes from the Season 2 promotional image. Nostalgia costumes / stage: Revealed around EVO time last year, some may have forgotten about Street Fighter 5's upcoming nostalgia costumes and stage. Fans were shown classic alternate costumes for Alex and Ibuki, returning them to Street Fighter 3 Third Strike glory. Additionally, we saw concept art for M. Bison's iconic Street Fighter 2 Thailand stage. Ever since the announcement back in July 2016, there has been no word on the status of this content. Considering, however, that it's been over six months since the reveal, we can only hope we'll see them released this year. @jul 20, 2016 at 1:19am by NyuNozomiHyuga thacmaster.proboards.com/thread/2110/street-fighter-announced-cross-play?page=89CFN update: As mentioned previously, a CFN update is inbound and scheduled to release sometime in Spring. Details about what kind of improvements to the feature we can expect to see are still unknown. In addition to the aforementioned content, there are several changes that players hope to see soon. An input lag reduction, more stable servers, and even another balance patch before the start of the Pro Tour are just some of the potential updates Capcom could provide this year that would certainly appease fans. Rumor: Helen (or Kolin) Is Street Fighter V’s Next DLC Character, Uses Ice-Based Attacks Street Fighter’s Facebook page merges with a possible leak to reveal the next fighter’s identity. Belief is growing stronger that the next Street Fighter V DLC character–set to be officially revealed at Lupe Fiasco’s DROGAS Light release party, February 15th–will be Helen, known from the game’s General Story mode, possibly under her second name Kolin. First, the changes to Street Fighter’s Facebook page caught attention: shoryuken.com/2017/02/01/capcom-teams-with-lupe-fiasco-to-announce-street-fighter-vs-second-season-2-dlc-character/It was already thought that the second Season 2 silhouette resembled Helen, and the expanded banner reinforces this strongly. The ice motif in the character’s background (and in the SFV logo avatar) gave rise to speculation that Helen’s–if it is her–powers will be ice-based. Secondly, an unverified leak, apparently originating on Reddit (but since deleted, naturally) lends even more weight; the leak is fairly detailed, discussing how Helen has a combination of ice-related projectile moves, rekka inputs, a 2-bar V-Trigger, and “feels like” Rose to play. VesperArcade and TheRedGambit discuss these rumors in more depth in their videos below. articles.pvplive.net/article_images/helen_leak.jpgWhile the evidence pointing to Helen/Kolin herself is quite convincing, these details of her play are–at this point–as good as speculation, until we see more concrete evidence, or an official reveal. Street Fighter 5's load times reportedly reduced up to seven seconds with PlayStation 4 Pro's Boost Mode Sony is gearing up to release the next major update to the PlayStation 4 software. Version 4.50 (codenamed Sasuke) adds several new features, including external hard drive support, custom wallpapers, 3D Blu-Rays on PlayStation VR, and more. Update 4.50 has not been officially released yet, but is currently being tested by players who signed up for the beta period and were lucky enough to be selected. One tester by the name of Mladen Tapavicki managed to grab a screenshot of a new setting called "Boost Mode" that allows the PlayStation 4 Pro (exclusively) to better the performance of games that haven't been specifically patched to function with the Pro. The description of the mode is as follows: Experience improved gameplay, including higher frame rates, for some games that were released before the introduction of PS4 Pro (CUH-7000 series). Turn this off if you experience unexpected behavior during gameplay. Polygon was able to confirm that this mode will be included with the 4.50 update, and reports of games that see improvements when Boost Mode is enabled have been surfacing since last week. One such report claims that Street Fighter 5 can see load time reductions as large as seven seconds when operating on the PlayStation 4 Pro with Boost Mode on. Below are the results of Street Fighter 5 load time tests for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro (with Boost Mode), courtesy of farisr on NeoGAF. Reported Street Fighter 5 Boost Mode load times Launching the game to SFV Logo screen: Normal: 42.3 s Boost: 35.6 s Main Menu to Stage Select (for Versus): Normal: 20.2 s Boost: 14.4 s Character Select to Match in Hillside Plaza (Ryu and Ken selected): Normal: 20.7 s Boost: 17.3 s At this time, we can't say for certain if these numbers are the real deal. However, from what we're seeing about Boost Mode, it seems entirely possible. We'll have to wait until video confirmation surfaces and/or the update goes live. Still, if you're interested in getting one for yourself, the PlayStation 4 Pro runs $100 more than the standard version of the PlayStation 4 and is currently available for purchase. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Street Fighter 5 Season 2's next DLC character to be revealed tomorrow, here's our first look at their icy powers The official Street Fighter Twitter account has just revealed when we can expect to see Street Fighter 5 Season 2's next DLC character. Tomorrow is the big day, folks. This reveal will come along with the debut of a track off of Lupe Fiasco's upcoming album, DROGAS Light, which is set to drop on February 10th. For the first time, we see an in-game shot of the next DLC character's icy powers. This seems to fall in line with alleged leak that claims Helen (Kolin) is headed to Street Fighter 5 next and will come equipped with a V-Trigger that freezes the floor and the opponent if it makes contact. The newest Street Fighter 5 character Kolin announced, to be released February 28th The newest Street Fighter 5 character has been announced. As expected, the character announced is Kolin. With all the icy background hints, it isn't surprising that she is capable of ice powers as seen in the trailer. It is noted that the character will be released on February 28th. V-Skill: Inside Slash Apparently her V-Skill functions as a counter. After absorbing a hit from her opponent, she'll perform a double slash attack upon the opponent. www.eventhubs.com/images/2017/feb/09/kolin-v-skill/V-Trigger: Diamond Dust Kolin will be able to use her V-Trigger up to two times (similar to Ibuki and Urien, for example). Upon activation, she'll strike the ground causing ice to jut out from the ground. While the V-Trigger is capable of dealing damage and stun, it also has the unique property of freezing the opponent's stun gauge. If the opponent's stun meter fills up completely during this, then they will become frozen in place. www.eventhubs.com/images/2017/feb/09/kolin-v-trigger/Critical Art: Frost Tower This appears to start off as a single strike. If the strike connects, it'll go into an animation in which Kolin will summon multiple icicles from the ground that will strike and lift the opponent. www.eventhubs.com/images/2017/feb/09/kolin-critical-art/Source: eventhubs

Capcom confirms additional Season 2 balance changes in the works, announcement expected in March
Additional Season 2 balance changes are on their way to Street Fighter 5, Capcom recently confirmed.
"We have been analyzing player performance since the Season 2 balance changes. At this time, we can confirm additional changes are in the works to bring characters in-line with how we envision them to perform," wrote Capcom.
The details are still light, but the announcement is anticipated to happen in early March. Capcom also will be talking about other details in the future.
"Expect to hear more from us about each of the remaining four characters every other month beginning in February.
"That said, in months where we won’t have any new character info, we will have new information and content to talk about," they wrote.

This week, 6,600 fight money can be yours with a session of matches. Like the previous weeks, three out of the four challenges are self explanatory and straight forward, while there is a 5,000 FM challenge that is a bit more cryptic. Street Fighter 5 server maintenance scheduled for February 14th-15th from 10p.m. to 5a.m. PDT, same day as Lupe Fiasco's SF5 event
Capcom's Japanese CFN page has announced that Street Fighter 5 servers will be seeing some downtime fairly soon.
The announcement states that the downtime will be from 3p.m. ~ 10p.m. Japanese time on February 15th. For West Coast Americans, this means you won't be able to play online from 10p.m. to 5a.m.
We're a little over two weeks away from the next update patch, on February 28th, that will feature the game's newest fighter: Kolin. At this point we do not know the nature of the maintenance, but it's worth noting that this is on the same date as the Lupe Fiasco X Street Fighter event.
