Thailand remastered stage removed from Street Fighter 5 in-game store, Capcom releases statement
With Street Fighter 5 recent update came the highly anticipated Thailand remastered stage -- a remake of M. Bison's classic Street Fighter 2 backdrop. Unfortunately, the stage wasn't available for very long.
Last night, the new battleground was removed from Street Fighter 5's in-game store. Though some fans were able to get their hands on it quickly enough, many have been unable to purchase it and still cannot do so.
The reason why the stage was pulled is currently unknown, but /r/StreetFighter user Venom44 pointed out a potential issue with the background music's lyrics that some believe may have been the cause.
Venom44 notes that the stage theme includes chants of Muslim prayers. The issue at hand seems to be a potential mismatch.
Using Muslim prayers for a stage set in a Buddhist temple is inaccurate and could cause confusion, according to Ougaming.
At this time, though, all of this is simply speculation. We reached out to Capcom for official word, and they let us know that a statement explaining the stage's removal is coming soon.
Capcom's Statement
It has come to our attention that part of the background music track used in the DLC Thailand Temple Hideout Stage, released on April 25, 2017, contains unintentional religious references. Capcom has therefore immediately ceased distribution of this DLC and, as a temporary measure, will be performing an emergency server maintenance update in the very near future to remove this track by replacing it with existing music from another stage. Details of the timing of this update will be provided via the @sfvserver Twitter account.
Users who have already downloaded this DLC will still be able to use it and, once the emergency maintenance update is complete, will have the replacement music as well.
An edited version of the Thailand Temple Hideout Stage background music will be released at a later date.
The Street Fighter V development and operations team, as well as all of us at Capcom, have nothing but the utmost respect for all faiths and religions around the world, and we would like to sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by this content.

Capcom announces a second Street Fighter 5 CFN update beta set for this month, new DLC character will be playable
Capcom has announced that another Street Fighter 5 beta test will be taking place this month. On May 11th through the 14th (PDT), players will be able to test out the upcoming CFN update which includes several new features and improvements, character balance changes, and more.
Much like the previous test period, this beta will be available for free to all PlayStation 4 and PC players. Even if you don't own the game, you can still participate, and there will be crossplay.
Possibly the largest draw here, though, is the fact that Street Fighter 5's next DLC character will be playable during this beta. However, once the beta test has concluded, any online data you have generated and the new fighter will be gone.
Last week, the PlayStation Store confirmed Ed's Season 2 DLC character status by way of a slip up in the description of Street Fighter 5 on the site. Capcom has yet to affirm this, and has kept the identity of the playable beta character a mystery for the time being.
For a breakdown of what else the beta will include, be sure to hit the jump.
2nd beta test features
Rage Quit Penalty System
Back in December, we implemented an update to the Rage Quit System which displayed a special Player Profile Icon for the worst offenders and the most honorable players. These icons are working correctly now and matchmaking logic now takes into account your online behavior and frequent disconnectors will be matched with similar opponents.
Ranked and Casual Match Loading Times
We understand many players were not happy with the load times when entering online matches. There will now be a shorter transition when going into a Ranked or Casual Match.
Battle Lounge Country Flags
Country flags should now properly load in Battle Lounges, allowing players to locate competition in their region.
Matchmaking Improvements
It should now take less time to find an opponent in online matches. We’ve also added logic which avoids frequently being matched with the same opponent repeatedly.
Fighter Profile Stats
More detailed stats will be tracked and presented on your Fighter Profile.
Country / League Based Rankings
Players will now be able to filter leaderboards based on Country or League.
Friend Management System
In addition to adding a player to your Favorites, you can now add Friends and follow them on CFN. You can now also Blacklist players.
Interactive Timeline
On the CFN home menu, a live feed of your Friends’ activities is presented on an interactive Timeline. Using the Timeline, you can immediately add a recent match to your Replay List, view a Fighter Profile, manage your Friends, and adjust Timeline display settings.
In-Game Announcer Voice
The in-game announcer will give you stats on both you and your opponent using data pulled from the server.

Street Fighter 5's next DLC character to be revealed Monday, first in-game teaser shown The official announcement for Street Fighter 5 Season 2's third DLC character is coming on Monday. Street Fighter's official Twitter account confirmed the reveal just moments ago and has updated their profile icon and banner to give hints at who the next character will be. The profile's banner features a better look at the character's silhouette and both images (seen below) show what appears to be psycho power hovering over them. This falls in line with the Ed leak on the PlayStation Store we saw last week. We also get our first in-game teaser at the new fighter. In the screenshot below, you can see Balrog being lifted up by the aforementioned energy. Source: eventhubs

So now you hate the game again? What? No, I just found it funny that even DSP could critique the game. I don't agree with his assessment that SF5 is worst than 4. But, I do agree that classic games are better.

NuckleDu shares first details on upcoming champion's choice Capcom Pro Tour costume, confirms it's for Guile Capcom announced their Capcom Pro Tour-themed DLC for 2017. Set to help support the year's tournament circuit, the content includes new alternate costumes for Ryu and Ken, an additional color for all of the current playable characters (all of which is available for purchase now), a new stage (coming at a later time), and the yet to be revealed champion's choice costume. Since Du "Liquid|NuckleDu" Dang won Capcom Cup 2016, he was brought in to help design a special alternate costume for a character of his choice. The champ recently shared some quick details on what we can expect from this costume over on Twitter -- the first details on it, in fact. According to Du, the costume will be more on the whimsical side. Additionally, the alternate outfit will actually be for Guile, not R. Mika like many originally expected. Source: eventhubs

First images of Ed as a playable character surface for Street Fighter 5 A couple of images of Ed were uploaded to the official StreetFighter.com website recently, showing us what his playable model will look like. Since this came from the official website, these seem to be legit images, unless Capcom has taken their trolling to the next level. Take a gander at them for yourself. Source: eventhubs

Ed officially revealed as Street Fighter 5 Season 2's next DLC character, check out his trailer here Capcom has officially revealed Street Fighter 5 Season 2's third DLC character. As we expected, Ed is the game's next playable fighter. Players will be able to try him out, for free, during Street Fighter 5's upcoming beta which begins on Thursday, May 11th. From what we can see, Ed uses a boxing-heavy playstyle mixed with psycho power projectiles. According to Capcom Unity's latest blog, Ed's special move inputs are unique in that they only require multiple or held button presses to perform, no traditional directional inputs. This applies for all of his moves, except Critical Art. Ed will come along with his Story costume, which gives him the hoodie from SF5's cinematic story mode, and a Battle costume that has influences of M. Bison. As a child, Ed was captured and experimented on by a division of Shadaloo known as S.I.N. with the goal of making him into a replacement body for M. Bison. As a result of the experiments, Ed's body ages faster up until he is ready for battle. With Balrog as his caretaker, Ed's fighting style revolves around boxing, but is enhanced by psycho power due to the M. Bison genes inside of him. In Street Fighter 5, Ed is haunted by Bison's ghost, and constantly battles to keep M. Bison from possessing his body. V-Moves / Critical Art V-Skill: Psycho Snatcher - Ed releases Psycho Power from his palm, pulling himself or opponents depending on how long he charges it up. gfycat.com/gifs/detail/thoseplushgnatcatcherV-Trigger: Psycho Cannon - With a full V-meter, Ed releases an enormous amount of Psycho Power. He can follow alongside it, allowing him to pepper in shots when it connects with the opponent. gfycat.com/gifs/detail/serenelikelyduckbillplatypusCritical Art: Psycho Barrage - Ed lunges forward with a series of punches. If at any point he connects, he’ll continue weaving around the opponent, slipping in quick combinations of Psycho-punches ending with a powerful uppercut. gfycat.com/gifs/detail/boldcandidcommabutterflySource: eventhubs

Ed's special moves utilize 'simple inputs' in Street Fighter 5, performed with button presses instead of traditional motions We just saw the official reveal of Street Fighter 5 Season 2's third DLC fighter, Ed. Capcom Unity released their latest blog entry with details on the new world warrior, and one bit of information mentioned included really jumped out at me. In Street Fighter 5, Ed does away with traditional motion inputs when performing special moves. "What makes Ed especially unique is how players perform his special moves," the blog starts. "His special moves have simple inputs; they only require simultaneous button presses, repeatedly pressing a button, or holding down a button. "Only Ed’s Critical Art is done by inputting a traditional motion." Not only is this trait unique to Street Fighter 5, this is the first time we're seeing something like this in a main Street Fighter series title -- to our knowledge. Characters like Chun-Li and E. Honda have special moves performed with multiple button presses, but their other attacks involve traditional directional inputs. A character with predominantly simplified inputs is an interesting concept, and should work out nicely for Ed who appears to be a combo-heavy character. We'll have to wait until Thursday's beta test to see how these inputs function in real battle, though. Source: eventhubs

Street Fighter 5's CFN beta currently available for pre-download Street Fighter 5's upcoming beta is set to go live this Thursday, but it looks as though the file is currently available for download. Coming in at an 8.242 GB file size, this free beta test for PlayStation 4 and PC users will allow players to try out the improvements to the CFN, Season 2's upcoming balance changes, the third DLC character -- which we now know is Ed -- and more. If you'd like to download the file yourself, you can locate it on the console PlayStation Store. We have added screenshots of what the beta currently holds. Capcom often allows users to pre-download, if you will, updates in order to forgo the waiting process when the content is actually live. As it stands right now, players can boot up the beta, however, the actual contents aren't accessible. You will be given a slideshow explaining what the beta holds, and the main menu is present, but only the battle settings can be selected at this time. Source: eventhubs

Here are all of Ed's default costume colors in Street Fighter 5 If you're excited to see more Ed and can't wait for this week's upcoming beta, you're in luck. The official Street Fighter 5 website has unveiled the third DLC character's colors for his default costume. This includes all 15 of his regular colors, as well as color EX3 which is included in the Capcom Pro Tour Premiere Pass. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Updated Street Fighter 5 silhouettes offer new tease at upcoming DLC characters With the announcement of Street Fighter 5's new Psycho-powered bad boy, Ed, Capcom has also produced an updated DLC silhouette lineup. With Ed now filled in, only three anonymous shadows remain to be unveiled, and this image features new perspectives on said shadowy figures. Now we have to preface this with a note about the nature of Capcom's approach to their Season 2 releases thus far. Especially in the case of Ed, the glimpses of the character in Story Mode and the final playable product were very different. Any and all information we gain from the silhouettes should very much be taken with a grain of salt when trying to compare them to existing characters, because they may represent an unseen form of a fighter. That said, check out the updated silhouettes below. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lose yourself in Ed's Street Fighter 5 preview theme: a rap song with a full set of lyrics From sudden change in attire to button-only inputs, the newest brawler on Street Fighter 5's roster has brought plenty of surprises with him. You may have heard a bit of it during his release trailer, but Ed's official SF5 theme stands out amongst the rest of the game's background music in that it's a full blown rap song. While other tracks do have lyrics, ("Take This Higher" being objectively the best song in the game's entire catalogue) we've yet to get one with anywhere near this much in the way of vocals. Vesper Arcade features an extended version of this theme in a recent video, with a full set of transcribed lyrics thanks to SonicSol. We're not certain that this will be Ed's in game theme, but wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being so. Yeah, yeah, yeah Chemical catalyst, rattling of a hazardous Subdued by all my memories but never been a pacifist So put up put up the fists it's hard to resist But I just might lose control so shoot and I never do miss I gotta take a risk if I wanna have it all So let go of the poison and the venom I'm sinning I'm sinning the voices all spinning with the visions all written Got the pictures of my prophecy, develop my philosophy Woke up in the morning and told the world to get back off of me Yeah And still the nightmares creeping up at night I'm a fragment in the mirror seeing black and white Like, who is me and who is gonna take me over? My soul is my soul in the eyes of the beholder Yeah, and now there's darkness in the chaos Try to see the light and hope the positives will pay off Ain't no time for stressing when the time is of this essence Take these two fists and swing them back into your direction Woo! 'Cause that's the way I got it And don't the sound of doom always sound so melodic Look into the future know the end is coming near Even though I'm standing tall in the face of all this fear Clear Vision's serving life like a sentence Gotta stay strong that's the reason I'm so vicious A barking dog, take it all never fall You ringing for the champ? Then I'm the one who get the call So let me tell you a little something about this life You can't commit to the game and you can't commit to fight But the thing is that with every passing of the night Nobody actually makes it out of this world alive Source: eventhubs

New Street Fighter 5 bundle lets you save almost 40% on initial 16 character Battle costumes
You can now gain access to Hot Ryu along with the Battle costumes for the rest of Street Fighter 5's 16-man initial launch roster in a new costume bundle.
Normally each of these alternate outfits would set you back $2.99, and that's still the case if you purchase them individually, but now you can nab all 16 at once in the in-game store for $29.99, making for a savings of almost $18.
Now you can nab Hot Ryu, Peacock Mika and Gelato Ken all in the same pack.

Here are Ed's stats, stamina rating, and critical art in Street Fighter 5 Street Fighter 5's CFN beta is going live tonight. Along with the updated UI and balance changes, players will get the chance to try out Season 2's third DLC character, Ed. Capcom recently released Ed's in-game stats, his stamina and stun ratings, and more. In this story, we have included a handful of new screenshots, his ratings, and footage of his full critical art. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stylish combos, a fearsome frame trap game and more complex than you may think, Capcom formally introduces us to Ed We're mere hours away from getting our hands on Ed for the first time in Street Fighter 5. Capcom UK's Matt Edwards has just released his character introduction video in which he goes over the specifics of Ed's play style. We get a closer look at the applications of Ed's V-Skill, V-Trigger, special moves and his general approach. He's able to negate and maneuver through fireballs with his V-Skill, and is most comfortable doing frame traps in his opponent's face. His simplified inputs may lead fans to assume he'll be excessively straightforward, but Edwards promises us there's far more depth than one might expect. Check out the introduction video below. Capcom to showcase Ed before Street Fighter 5's beta opens
Capcom is running a special stream today that is set to show off Season 2's third DLC character. The details of what exactly the stream will entail are currently unknown, but at the least we will be seeing Ed gameplay.
xhttps://www.twitch.tv/videos/141864706
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ed will be in your face constantly, has a ton of anti-airs and set up potential for days; here's our character breakdown for Street Fighter 5's latest
Ed seems to be a rush down character that most wants to hit you with his frame traps to score big damage. He has a plethora of tools to get in close in both movements and attacks. Here are some of the important takeaways we gathered during the showcase:
- No overhead - Cross up with jumping medium kick - EX uppercut is invincible, but slow like Urien's headbutt - Quick walk speed and quick forward dash
Here's his Critical Art combo to kick things off:
xhttps://clips.twitch.tv/SpoopyFunnyClipzKappaClaus
As showcased, Ed's normals don't seem to be where his focus is. They'll likely often take a back seat to his safe special moves in the footsies game, and players will resort to these once they're already in close:
xhttps://clips.twitch.tv/MushyMildVelociraptorHotPokket
Ed's V-Skill is a chargeable Psycho attack that whips out and grabs his opponent. He reels them in on both block or grab for safe pressure, and can also fling it skyward as an anti-air that continues into a combo:
xhttps://clips.twitch.tv/PlumpExuberantCurlewNotATK
xhttps://clips.twitch.tv/MiniaturePlumpOpossumSMOrc
Ed's V-Trigger is a giant orb that he can send out at varying speeds. He can toss it out and walk with it to close the gap, use it as a mix up off knock downs, or simply extend combos with it:
xhttps://clips.twitch.tv/LightRealShrewDBstyle
Ed can toss out a projectile, but it's kind of a two part move. He has to first perform a forward medium punch, and then tap punch again to send out a ball of Psycho Power:
xhttps://clips.twitch.tv/FrailAlluringHareOMGScoots
He wouldn't be a Street Fighter boxer without a rush punch. Ed can charge up his standing heavy punch to turn it into a rush that's safe on block and can lead to combos for more damage:
xhttps://clips.twitch.tv/GoodPrettyTitanDatSheffy
Ed does have an invincible wake up option in his EX uppercut, but it has a fairly long start up. We're not sure at this point if any of his up kicks are invincible, but we did notice they grant counter hit damage when whiffed:

Street Fighter 5 hit 1.6 million in sales, Capcom continues to push it for eSports - title keeps chugging along despite hate Mention the words 'Street Fighter 5' to almost anyone in the fighting game community, and you're about to get an earful. Whether you love or hate the game, it's hard to run across anyone in the FGC who doesn't have a strong opinion about the release. Personal feelings aside, what really matters with a title like this is the traction it's seeing from gamers, how often it's being played in the community, and if it's main developer continues to improve and support the title. And against all odds, Street Fighter 5 keeps checking these boxes, and today I wanted to show how it's doing it. This game has sold 1.6 million copies!?!? Street Fighter 5 has sold an additional 200,000 copies since its initial sales report. While this may not seem like that big of deal, this increase has happened over a one year span — while the game had seen a truckload of problems, and negative feedback. The fact that SF5 continues to pick up momentum, against all odds, is pretty astonishing. This is a product people want to play and experience, not just existing players, but a new audience who decided to purchase the game. Quite a bit of the user-feedback you hear about the game is negative, with fans and foes alike prepared to tell you everything wrong with the title. Despite this, it continues to sell. Capcom still pushing it heavily for eSports Capcom continues to emphasize how large Street Fighter 5 is to their eSports plans. In a recent investor relations document, they said that a specific consumer strategy is to reap stable contributions from major brands, citing SF5. "Explore leading-edge markets, such as eSports with Street Fighter 5," Capcom noted as a bullet point to their investors. "We expect the eSports market to grow significantly throughout the world, driven by initiatives in the more advanced eSports markets of North America and Europe," wrote Capcom. "Spearheaded by our US subsidiary, we intend to strengthen promotions globally through activities that include expanding our user base via streaming video," they noted. It's important to state this isn't just for their existing eSports approach, this is part of their business expansion plans — in terms of trying to grow it even further. Strong attendance at tournaments, good viewership Street Fighter 5 is frequently among the games with the most number of attendees at tournaments, and the Pro Tour has seen pretty nice viewer numbers for streams. Along with Smash Melee and Smash 4, it's a common occurrence to see that Street Fighter 5's stream and attendance numbers are very high. The last three Capcom Pro Tour premier events in the U.S. had entrant numbers in the 250-450 range for SF5 alone. For those same three premiere events, NorCal Regionals, DreamHack Austin and Final Round, SF5's collective stream numbers hit peaks of 40,000 to 60,000 viewers. So how the heck is Street Fighter 5 doing this? I wish I had concrete answers to this question. The bottom line is this game continues to defy a good portion of what's said about it publicly. We've definitely ran a number of stories, and opinions from top players, talking about the game's massive flaws. And yet — I wouldn't say the game is flourishing — but it continues to defy the odds, and perform at a good clip. Capcom states they're working on improving the game, and it will be interesting to see how the new CFN infrastructure helps out. But despite all of this, Street Fighter 5 continues to be a pretty decent success story, even as it exists currently. Looking over the data, I guess no matter what people say publicly, there's a large, dedicated and passionate fan base who love this game despite is problems. Source: eventhubs

Ed, new balance update, and CFN update to be released on May 30th for Street Fighter 5
This evening, Capcom announced that Ed, the additional Season 2 balance changes, and CFN update would be released for Street Fighter 5 on May 30th.

What this additional information could be about, we don't yet know yet. Perhaps it could be on the next new character or additional changes to be made with this update.
This is a long awaited release for Street Fighter 5, and multiple CFN betas have taken place to help ensure the new online infrastructure will work properly once it's launched.

Along with the initial balance changes, the improvements to the online infrastructure, and the game's 3rd DLC character, Ed, Capcom will be adding some more treats for players. Now called "Flamenco Tavern," players can acquire this stage for $3.99 / ¥400 / €3.99 or 70,000 Fight Money. Possible Street Fighter 5 leak hints at online training mode and a second cinematic story None of this is official, but data miner X-Kira claims to have stumbled across some pretty interesting content in the new Street Fighter 5 update. While X-Kira states that the expected features will be in this upcoming patch, (updated CFN, new Vega stage, Ed,) there are a few items locked away that piqued our interests. These items will apparently still be locked away for the time being, but very well may be coming to SF5 at a later date. A fan by the name of Vacationing Rolento sent this our way. The text is translated from Portugese, but the message is fairly clear: We have to reiterate, this is not at all official, and that only time will tell if this comes to fruition. Source: eventhubs

Street Fighter V servers are down for 24 hours to add new CFN, balance patch, and DLC content
We’re getting long-promised features at last–tomorrow night.
In case you’ve missed the notices, Street Fighter V’s online features are shutting down in two hours–from 9:00 PM PDT tonight until 9:00 PM PDT tomorrow–for a full 24-hour maintenance window, during which we’ll finally see the new balance patch, revamped CFN, and next DLC character Ed get added to the game officially. We’ll also be getting the updated version of Vega’s Street Fighter II stage–the Flamenco Tavern–and the return of Bison’s Temple Hideout stage as well.
As a sign of gratitude for players’ patience, logging in post-patch will get you a bonus 50,000 Fight Money–not too shabby! See you on the other side.
