More information from Eventhubs & Shoryuken:
'He is an outlandish character that flips the script for Street Fighter 5' - Matt Edwards introduces F.A.N.G
Capcom Fighters has come out with their next Street Fighter 5 introduction video, and today's subject is none other than F.A.N.G.
Of the initial roster's fighters, F.A.N.G breaks away from the mold more than anyone else. His toxic style promotes more long-ranged and keep away play where others are more interested in rushing down.
Matt Edwards narrates this introduction, showing off F.A.N.G's style and giving players an idea of what they're in for in playing with or against him.
F.A.N.G SF5 notes from Capcom
• V-Skill makes a slow-moving projectile that cannot be blocked, and poisons the opponent.
• Second only to Dhalsim when it comes to keeping the opponent at arm's length.
• F.A.N.G "flips the script" for SF5 in terms of appearance and play style.
• He's an assassin that works for Shadaloo, and is second in M. Bison's command.
Express Your Love for Street Fighter V with This Truly Horrific Shirt
We don’t talk about fighting game apparel here on Shoryuken all that often. This is mostly due to the fact that, outside a few outliers, clothing designed for fans of the genre is pretty mediocre, but one shirt has set the bar so low that we are ready to reconsider that stance.
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last six months, Street Fighter V is almost here. That’s really exciting, so much so that you may be looking for a shirt or two to share that excitement with the world. Luckily, there’s a good deal of source material for hypothetical designs: the game’s official logo, the iconic notation for a hadouken, the characters on Ryu’s gloves, or even something like the ‘FIGHT’ and ‘K.O.’ effects that bookend every match.
GameStop, in their infinite wisdom, took all these ideas, opened up Photoshop, and just went to town.
I’m not going to act like I’m the most fashion-forward individual, and far be it from me to put down anyone for their choice in clothing, but what the hell was GameStop thinking with this one? It’s almost as if they forgot they needed to send Capcom a design and grabbed a kid from the mailroom for a hasty lesson in “what’s hip these days?” Even the model has given up on trying to make it look good!
Oh, and you probably already noticed that they used effects from Street Fighter IV. On a Street Fighter V shirt. Whoops.
If there’s any consolation here, it’s that this shirt won’t be appearing on store shelves any time soon. It’s currently only available as part of GameStop’s Power Up program, which means folks won’t be spending actual money on it. But still…wow.

Info about F.A.N.G balance from Eventhubs:
Why F.A.N.G could be a major threat to the delicate balance of Street Fighter 5
If you’ve been following our coverage of Street Fighter 5 over the past year, you’ve certainly picked up on the specific directions the dev team has intended for the game. Less gimmicks, more honesty and a higher rate of player vs. player decision battles.
The thing with the game's newest character, F.A.N.G, is that he doesn’t seem to really want to adhere by those rules.
For me personally, F.A.N.G's non-conformity has actually served as a spark for my interest in SF5, but this eccentricity could come at great cost for the game overall.
It's still very early, and I only had about an hour of investigatory time with the character, but I've developed a few fears for the well being of SF5 since using F.A.N.G.
Deviating from the Bell Curve
Capcom's decision to design F.A.N.G like they have is both exciting and bold. They're on a mission to create a fighting game with a roster that features all viable characters. To do that, they've set up some foundational parameters for said characters.
There's all this talk of F.A.N.G being different, but we need to identify exactly what that means in relation to the rest of the cast. More importantly, we need to decide whether or not this one character stays within the foundational parameters intended by developers.
Of the initial 16 characters, F.A.N.G’s set up is the least encouraging for forward movement. Two of his special moves, his arching fireballs and his poison gas bomb, are very defensive/zoning in nature.
We've seen that most charge techniques have been removed in SF5. We’ll see what happens with future DLC characters, but Capcom has come right out to say they’re shying away from charge moves because they tend to slow down the action a bit.
If you saw F.A.N.G’s move list, you surely noticed that his three main special attacks all in fact have charge inputs.
His game plan very obviously revolves around his unique ability to poison foes for a damage over time (DOT) effect, and the fact that said damage stops if the opponent lands a hit encourages the fight into a game of tag.
F.A.N.G wants to score a poison hit, then let the DOT do work for him as he stays at a safe distance. This style seems out of left field, not only in SF5, but in the SF universe in general.
It feels as though F.A.N.G isn’t as interested in the honest game of rock, paper, scissors that most other characters in SF5 are fundamentally based around. His unique style looks to potentially throw a wrench into the works, separating him from the majority. If this is indeed the case, I have a few fears about him.
Fears
First off, I trust that Capcom has taken all of what I’m about to say into account in their creative process for F.A.N.G. In a game where almost all characters adhere to a certain rubric, but one shies away, it’s incredibly easy for that one character to quickly become either dominant or irrelevant.
It’s pretty easy to see how F.A.N.G would be overpowered. This would be the case if his zoning tools were too strong, and/or his poison too effective. After playing him, that’s really not the direction I feel things would go, and that's a good thing as this would be a worst case scenario.
The other side of the coin would see his approach become nothing more than a gimmick. Of course being poisoned is going to urge people to anxiously try to get in, and make bad decisions, but what if they don’t?
If F.A.N.G’s DOT is actually negligible then a major part of his game plan will be dependent on an opponent’s psyche. At high level, I can’t imagine MCZ|Daigo or EG|Momoichi freaking out about this and making poor decisions.
The actual damage sap is fairly slow, and the player still must land an actual hit to end a round. In short, poison will have to be a bonus, not a foundational pillar for F.A.N.G players.
If Capcom has indeed designed him as such, then perhaps his unconventional mechanic will find a happy medium within the game's tolerable spectrum. I think if F.A.N.G's design forces him to rely on poison as a crutch, he'll have big problems.
Final Thoughts
As a zoner in a not-too-zoney game, the potential for F.A.N.G to be a polarized character is daunting. He'll have to have a fighting chance against those who can rush him down, meaning he'll need decent offense to go with his zoning.
He seems to have this offense, but alas the pendulum swings back into overpowered territory, as most characters in this game don't have the leisure of being able to both go in or sit back.
If F.A.N.G brings a knife to a gunfight, he’s done. Inversely if he brings a gun to a knife fight, everyone else is done. In my opinion, it was an incredibly bold choice by Capcom to create such a unique fighter in a game with a central goal to make all characters valid. My fingers are crossed that he’ll simply be an odd, yet perfect fit.
We'd like to know your thoughts on F.A.N.G thus far. Do you think it's possible that his unique design will fit into the world of SF5? Or is it impossible to see him as anything beyond best or worst in the game?
Today, we contacted Capcom regarding rumors going around about Street Fighter 5, its DLC plans, and whether PS3 controllers would be compatible with the upcoming PS4 game.
Just recently, Capcom got back to us with the following quote: We can confirm that Alex will be the first DLC character and will be available in March and the final version of Street Fighter V (PS4) will be compatible with PS3 controllers.
The current theory seems to be that since Alex is the leftmost character of the silhouettes Capcom showed us at Capcom Cup back in December, that the release order after him would be Guile, Balrog, Ibuki, Juri and then finally Urien, but what do you think? Let us know in the comments.

Capcom’s broadcast is scheduled to go live on February 11 at 11 AM JST (6 PM PST, 9 PM EST on February 10). You can catch the entire thing on YouTube.
Ken May Perform Best at Mid-to-Long Range in Street Fighter V
It’s easy to get hung up on what we know a character to be. Regardless of how they may appear in new titles, it makes sense that we’re prone to want to force fighters into a form we’ve seen them take before. When it comes to Ken’s inclusion in Street Fighter V, plenty of players have been scratching their heads trying to make sense of his seemingly less-than-optimal normals and unusual V abilities.
Yesterday, Pan offered a look at M. Bison’s devastating okizeme potential in Street Fighter V and, today, they’re back with a strategy reel offering insights into how Ken should approach the match. Using insights from Viscant’s recent blog post, the video below offers an argument for Ken players to stick to a longer range.
'Her ability to juggle airborne opponents is one of the most potent in the game' - Capcom introduces Street Fighter 5's Karin Kanzuki
It's Karin's turn in the spotlight as we see her highlights in Capcom's latest Street Fighter 5 character introduction video.
This somewhat smug starlet is all about rush down in this game, and video narrator Matt Edwards notes how she shines brightest when going with an aggressive play style.
Opponents will start to feel demoralized as they're tossed around and juggled by this young lightweight. Her ability to pop her foes up repeatedly is described as one of the most potent juggle potentials in the game.
Is Karin the right character for you? You'll have a better idea after checking out her introduction video.
Karin SF5 notes from Capcom
• Her V-Skill negates fireballs.
• Her V-Trigger unlocks an additional special move with a wide range of follow ups.
• Her ability to juggle airborne opponents is one of the most potent in the game.
• Karin is best played with a sense of urgency, and shines at rush down.
So, I take it everyone played the Beta and is preparing for the game? Well, good luck guys. I can't wait to see you all online.
I did alot better in the beta than in USF4 and actually won alot more than I lost. Most likely since the game is still new. Gonna get a head start, good luck guys.

Newer game and less bs. You should do much better ideally. It'll be fine I'm sure. Next week is blazing by and I get to kick butt!

Here some information from Eventhubs:
Check out Street Fighter 5's main theme: 'Survivor' by Man With a Mission
Why are there wolves in top hats in the banner? That's Man With a Mission, a Japanese rock band that has produced the official theme music for Street Fighter 5.
The title of the song is "Survivor," and it's a fast paced rock tune with a bit of electronica in the background. We can certainly picture an artistic Street Fighter game intro playing out to this song.
It's got some pretty big shoes to fill, recall Street Fighter 4's "Indestructible", but we're faithful that Capcom has chosen the right theme for the game.
Give it a listen by clicking here, then come back and let us know what you think. We're eager to hear your opinions on this one.
Famitsu gives Street Fighter 5 an official rating; scores even higher than Vanilla Street Fighter 4
Famitsu, a well-respected line of Japanese video game magazines, has officially offered their ratings for Street Fighter 5.
Their ranking method includes four reviewers each offering a score of 1-10, meaning a "40" is the best possible score. Street Fighter 5 received scores of 10/8/8/9, reaching an overall score of 35/40.
Compare this to 2009's rating of Street Fighter 4, which achieved a 34/40 with individual scores of 9/8/8/9. We're just seven days from SF5's official launch, and news like this continues to encourage as we prep for the newest and biggest chapter in Street Fighter history.
'He's the most nimble character in the entire game' - Vega slides and slashes his way into Street Fighter 5
Originally a sub boss in Street Fighter 2, Vega's vain character and threatening claw have enthralled audiences for over 25 years now.
He's back in all his narcissistic glory for Street Fighter 5, and Matt Edwards of Capcom has a full introduction video for us.
He shows us Vega's revamped style, highlighting his top tier mobility and wide variety of moves. One of the most interesting changes to the masked Spaniard is the fact that he no longer requires charge inputs to carry out specials.
Are you still searching for characters to play in SF5? Check out Vega's introductory video to see if he fits your style.
Vega SF5 notes from Capcom
• V-Skill evades an attack, such as a fireball, and then performs a slashing attack.
• His V-Trigger sees him toss a rose projectile, which he follows behind with a vicious combo.
• Vega is the most nimble character in SF5, with a mobility unmatched by anyone else thus far.
• He has two stances, meaning two different arsenals of attacks. With his claw off, he gains access to new moves, such as a command grab.
Yoshinori Ono: The creator of Street Fighter 5, and king of smack talk; check out his side-splitting interview on The Miller Report
Street Fighter 5 creator, Yoshinori Ono, appeared on the most recent episode of The Miller Report, which is a weekly YouTube series that focuses on the world of games journalism.
During this comedy interview, Ono goes to a level of strange hilarity we've never seen before. He speaks through his toy Blanka figurine, and tears into host Simon Miller when he begins to trash talk SF5.
Here's a snippet of Ono going in, which should give you a bit of a taste of the interview in general:
'People are sleeping on Zangief in Street Fighter 5' - K-Brad talks SF5, offers tips on improving your game play and more
We're back with another of BornFree's top player interviews from King of New York, and today's interviewee is fan favorite "Stone Cold" EG|K-Brad.
K-Brad covers the routine topics: how he feels about Ultra Street Fighter 4 not being at EVO, how he's feeling about Street Fighter 5 thus far and offers some tips that have helped him better himself as a player.
In regards to SF5, K-Brad notes that Zangief is a character people haven't been giving enough credit to. This is interesting, considering that Gief has drawn less than enthusiastic responses from players such as RB|Snake Eyez.
The Russian wrestler is quite different than his previous iteration in SF4, and it seems much of the community has said he doesn't look as scary this time around. K-Brad argues that his ability to draw foes close with his V-Trigger will be a huge deal once players begin to really utilize this trait.
In a new post over at Capcom Unity, Haunts re-confirmed a lot of the things we've been hearing these last few days, such as Alex being released for Street Fighter 5 in March, and the Playstation 4 verison of Street Fighter 5 supporting PS3 fightsticks.
But there was also some new information - Namely that the DLC characters will be released monthly, with the exception of June, where we'll instead get a large story mode updated that was previously mentioned. This image below details Capcom's current DLC plans for Street Fighter 5.
It was also noted by Haunts that playing through the character story prologues that are present in the game at launch will give you enough Fight Money to unlock Alex in March. Hit the jump to check out a huge gallery of Street Fighter 5 costumes that were uploaded to Capcom's Facebook page today.

Here some info from Eventhubs & Shoryuken:
Get your first look at Alex's new design in Street Fighter 5 - Capcom releases concept art of Alex, F.A.N.G.'s alternate and screenshot of Trials Mode
At the Street Fighter 5 presentation last night or early this morning (depending on how you see it, and where you're from), Capcom surprised everyone by showing off a piece of concept art of Alex, the next newcomer.
While we have yet to see any in-game pictures of Street Fighter 5's first post-launch challenger, this'll show you what they were going for when designing him. Check it out below.
Hit the jump to check out F.A.N.G.'s alternate costume and a screenshot showing Trials Mode, set to be launched in March.
Since the trial mode image is in Japanese, here's a rough translation of what's written.
Challenge Mode: Train your combos and clear challenges! If you clear them, you'll gain various rewards. Set for release in March 2016.
Trials: You can practice combos for all of the characters. Each character will have 10 different trials.
Demonstration: See replays and follow the text to learn how to pull off techniques in the game. There will be a Basic, Intermediate and Advanced level in this mode. It also includes character-specific explanations.
Vega brings out the claws and Necalli goes ham - These SF5 combo primers show practical and efficient combos for the beauty and the beast
Tea Mandem, also known as DCLovesYou, sent in some of what he'd been able to find in the most recent Street Fighter 5 beta test with Necalli and Vega.
While this footage is from the most recent beta test, it does seem like the final game will be pretty similar at launch to it, so much (if not all) of the content in this video should still be applicable for players who get their hands on the retail game next week.
In the videos, there's a variety of combos for most feasible situations, so if you're planning on maining one of these two powerhouses, make sure to study up. You can find gifs of two neat moments right below.
Frame Trapped to Bring Hitbox Viewer, Combo Training, and Accessibility Features to Street Fighter V
There’s no questioning the fact that being able to break apart every piece of information on the screen can help fighting game players level up their game, but accessing all of it isn’t always as easy as we would like it to be. Features like hitbox viewers rarely find their way into the games we love; however, the community boasts plenty of people capable of using their technical know-how to bring these useful details out of hiding.
If you’ve had a chance to use Frame Trapped with Ultra Street Fighter IV, you know that the program was built to do just that: help players explore the game through hitbox viewing, combo training, and more. With Street Fighter V coming next week, creator Tom Piddock was pleased to announce earlier today that Frame Trapped will be making its way to the new title.
When we spoke to Piddock, he told us users can expect to see the program launch with a fully-functional hitbox viewer. He and his team, which includes Camera Man developer Lullius, are currently working to equip Street Fighter V players with the Combo Trainer tool found in the Ultra Street Fighter IV version of the program as well, and plan to add more features down the road.
Perhaps the most exciting of these future additions comes in the form of what Piddock calls a “Game-to-Speech” accessibility feature, which will provide blind players with on-screen information they may otherwise be missing.
Players can expect to get their hands on the program “as soon as possible after [Street Fighter V’s] release.” For now, tide yourself over with these images of the work in progress.
Street Fighter V’s Survival, Challenge Modes Provide Solo Distractions
For the most part, the focus of the marketing leading up to Street Fighter V’s release has leaned towards its more competitive aspects. Aside from details about the game’s story mode, we haven’t really heard much about other singleplayer aspects. Until now, that is.
In a new post on Capcom-Unity, Neidel “Haunts” Crisan dropped some new details on Street Fighter V’s Survival, Challenge, Targets, and Extra Battle modes.
Survival plays just like survival has in other fighting games, where a character’s health and EX meters carry over between fights. In Street Fighter V, this is divided into four difficulty levels or courses – Easy, Medium, Hard, and Hell. Similar to Street Fighter IV, players can unlock alternate colors for each character’s default outfit with victories in this mode. One can be unlocked in the easy courses, three in medium, and four in hard.
To help players who simply want to unlock colors, Survival also allows players to use power-ups like increased attack power and life recovery. However, as a trade off, they also deduct points from the overall score.
Challenge mode, on the other hand, consists of four sub-modes. The first, Battle Tips, teaches players how to play Street Fighter V through helpful demonstrations of tutorial content. Next, Trials should be familiar to anyone who has picked up a fighting game in recent years, offering up increasingly difficult combo challenges for all sixteen characters.
Targets, the daily challenges we’ve already detailed, give players a chance to earn extra Fight Money, custom titles, and more. And finally, Extra Battle consists of matches against computer-controlled bosses that provide an extra challenge. Players who beat these bosses will earn special in-game rewards.
Targets and Extra Battle challenges will be available soon after launch, with Battle Tips and Trials coming in March.
Online Lobbies, Spectating Planned for Street Fighter V’s March Update
Earlier today, we reported on details Capcom provided regarding Street Fighter V’s downloadable content schedule. While character release intervals were the main focus, their timeline also provided some insight into online play.
Unfortunately, it’s looking like Street Fighter V won’t launch with lobbies. They, along with spectating, will be added to the game sometime in March, alongside Alex, the in-game store, various gameplay modes, and more. When they do arrive, the online hang-outs will support up to eight players.
Good news, Steam users! Numerous reports are flooding in that Street Fighter V is now available for pre-load on PC. While this won’t allow you to jump in at the moment, it will save you some download time next Tuesday when the game officially launches.
Those of you have yet to pre-order Street Fighter V can still do so, especially if you want to grab the alternate Chun-Li outfit (pictured above) free of charge.
According to Capcom representative wbacon, the game will unlock on Steam around 9 AM PST, 12 PM EST.
'In the hands of a pro, her pressure can be terrifying' - Capcom introduces Street Fighter 5's Laura Matsuda
Laura Matsuda takes center stage today in Capcom's latest Street Fighter 5 character introduction video.
When playing as Laura, you'll want to make sure that you're close to the opponent and within throw range. The key to getting in lies within Laura's ability to cancel her strong normal attacks into her V-Skill dash.
Once there, players will need to utilize a mix of frame traps, resets, and command throws to play Laura effectively.
Find out if Laura is the right character for you by checking out her introduction video below.
Laura SF5 notes from Capcom
• Her V-Skill lets her cancel normal attacks into a forward or back dash.
• V-Trigger increases distance of the aforementioned dash, reduces charge time on her projectiles, and maximizes her stun output.

EventHubs exclusive Street Fighter 5 final build live stream ft. tons of versus action, Q&A, F.A.N.G footage, and more
Street Fighter 5 is set for release this coming Tuesday, but we here at EventHubs managed to get a hold of a retail copy of the game.
Because of this, tonight we are holding an exclusive broadcast led by our very own Velociraptor. Joining him will be a handful of members from the Arizona fighting game scene, and they will give us a look at versus mode from the Street Fighter 5 launch build.
Raptor has made it clear that he will be showcasing his F.A.N.G skills, so you can look forward to much more than two minutes of new footage. Additionally, he will be on commentary throughout the night discussing some of the changes in the final build, answering questions, and more.

Heres story mode concept arts from Eventhubs:
Street Fighter 5's story mode costumes will become available in March; concept art for Karin, F.A.N.G, Laura, and more
Yesterday, we were given a much closer look at Street Fighter 5's story mode costumes for the full launch roster. Each character's story outfit is meant to reflect the background and motivations of these fighters shown throughout story mode.
As many know, in order to unlock these costumes players must complete each character's story arc. Once completed, the respective character's costume will become available for purchase in Street Fighter 5's in-game store.
In a recent Capcom Unity post, it was revealed that the SF5 store will be launching sometime in March, meaning we won't be seeing the story mode costumes come into play until that time.
While we wait, we can enjoy this collection of amazing concept art featuring most of the launch roster in their story mode outfits. Below you will find characters such as Laura, M. Bison, and Karin, but be sure to hit the jump to see more.
