This game should have gone the f2p route like DOA 5 and Killer Instinct. It would have been much better off if it was not a full retail price game with the offerings of an F2P.

Street fighter V sales not so hot. steamspy.com/app/310950SF4 sold 850k worldwide in week one. So, SF5 has done about 130k. Are you sure it was almost a million in week one? Are you sure you're not talking about all of the versions? It did sell much better than SFV. Japan didn't have an arcade release and it is on fewer consoles plus the bad press really hurt it. The fanboys are insane and Devil Jin while usually rational when it comes to other things just can't take his mouth of off Capcom's balls. Sad really. The haters are just as annoying as the fanboys. The game is fun but Capcom should have just released a multiplayer version of the game for $30 first and then charged for the upgrades later, and released a full version later. Charging full price for half a game is ridiculous.

I'm not sure, because that's the numbers I got from SRK. So, take them with a grain of salt. I know that SF4 sold more than SFV first week, though. I don't know if it's that high right off the bat.
Yeah, I knew the arcade release was gonna hurt it. Saw that coming a mile away and the 2 star reviews on Amazon [Both in the US and Japan]. Capcom fugged up because they have a f2p model:[Slowly releasing content for a game]. But, charged full price for it. That's dumb.
What are some things the haters say that annoys you?

I'm talking about people who are just biased because they don't like the game because they want another SF4 and want to attribute that to the reason for the games low sales. "I hate it therefore it's bad" is just as annoying as fanboying. Here are some numbers of first week sales: Super Smash Bros. (Wii U) – 244,747 Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (PS3) – 85,407 Street Fighter IV (PS3) – 84,937 Super Street Fighter IV (PS3) – 80,103 Street Fighter V (PS4) – 46,836 Ultra Street Fighter IV (PS3) – 45,660 Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (PS3) – 45,347 Street Fighter IV (360) – 36,455 Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- (PS3) – 34,068 Super Street Fighter IV (360) – 29,697 BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND (PS3) – 23,273 Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- (PS4) – 13,967 BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND (PS4) – 11,432 Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (360) – 9,229 Dengeki Bunko FIGHTING CLIMAX IGNITION (PS4) – 7,112 Ultra Street Fighter IV (360) – 2,813

Well, if Capcom keeps the content f2p model it should do good. Someone made a good observation about DOA 5:
"Do you know how successful DOA5 has been? It's kind of crazy, and it's the entire basis for Capcom's SFV release model. DOA5LR is currently the most popular fighting game in Japan and North America because of its f2p platform geared towards staggered DLC releases, which brings in a disgusting amount of money every year, and has allowed Tecmo to release regular updates of DLC outfits, characters, and balance patches now 4 years later.
While DOA5LR has the benefit of the Xbox platform and a PC community (composed mostly of modders) and a successful arcade launch, most of its money is still brought in from Sony platforms, and rumor has it that if they were to publicized all of their digital sales (both of the game and DLC), DOA5 would become the most successful fighting game of all time. And Capcom wants to emulate that."

DoA offered a free version and a full release which Capcom didn't do.
SF will do better than the smaller fighters but not better than MK or Smash at this rate.

Here some Combofiend discussions from eventhubs:
'Players SAY they want X and they want Y, but really they just want to win' - Combofiend on why Street Fighter 5's design will keep people coming back
During the Street Fighter 5 launch event in San Francisco, EPNdotTV caught up with Capcom Community Manager Combofiend for a 15 minute interview.
Combofiend discusses a few topics relating to SF5, but the one that piqued our interest most was his discussion on what what players actually want in a fighting game.
"Players say they want X and they want Y, but at the end of the day they just want to win. At the same time, they want to be challenged, so it's all about making sure they're challenged, can still win if they put in enough effort and time, and that ultimately the game is enjoyable," he explains.
As noted in the video, Street Fighter 5 is created to be a game that doesn't require hours upon hours of lab work for a player to see their first glimpse of positive results.
Gamers should feel much more encouraged this time around to stick with it, because they'll start seeing wins much earlier on.

So now they're supposedly punishing rage quitters. Took them long enough. Wish my recording software was working. I haven't been on the ranked matches in a while anyways and the recording isn't even working on PC.
Why are you trying out Necalli? The DP?
Yea the game looks good on PC and those Evo numbers aren't bad.

Nash has no good reversals outside of using V meter. He get's overwhelmed too easy,I got tired of it.

Yea, I figured it was the DP. Honestly DP's are too mindless as it is and it encourages mashing. I recommend new players pick characters who don't have meterless invincible reversals because otherwise they never learn proper defense and teching. This game is much more punishing towards mashing and is trying to teach players to not rely on crutches as much. With a dp you essentially create a 50/50 situation every time your opponent pressures you and it's really not about thinking. It's just "throw it out and hope it hits".
I have to say there's nothing more annoying than playing a person that I'm pressuring and somehow I'm the one doing the guessing because they have a braindead option out of pressure.
Nash is very safe on a lot of stuff and is about making your opponent play your game if you mess up. If a player gets in on Nash it's because he Nash up more so than any other character.
My recommendation is just to stick with one character for a while and focus on your fundamentals. Picking a character would only band-aid the problem.
Do you want to play some matches? I can see what you're doing exactly.

I put alot of time into Nash. He's solid, but I fall apart under pressure. I feel safer with Necalli. Aight, we can play some matches. Been a while lol.

Yea, Nash is top tier and isn't bad. You just have to be more patient. I think it's a transition we all have to make.

He's not bad, I just don't like his defensive options in my playstyle. I go with what characters feel right for me. I do much better with Nash online, but I like Necallii and how he feels. It's not really about being the best, just find a character that feels right for me.

If that's the case you'll eventually have to learn to buckle down and perform under pressure. You can't mash in this game. Swapping characters will only slow you down in the long run since you'll have to start over. If you're just playing for sheer fun and don't plan on really trying to specialize in the game then have at it. You don't want to feel frustrated if you don't plan on taking it that far if it makes sense.

Don't get subconsciously down. Just keep performing.
I'm not saying you ragequit or anything. You just don't want to keep swapping out. Trust me, R. Mika has a lot of bad matchups with common characters like Ryu, Ken, Nash, and Karin. It can be annoying sometimes but you work through it.

Here are plans on solving rage quit from eventhubs:
Capcom working on permanent solution for rage quitters in Street Fighter 5, penalties go in next week
Capcom gave another update on what will be happening with Street Fighter 5 in the coming days and weeks.
Neidel "Haunts" Crisan said that Capcom is looking at a permanent solution to address the rage quitting issue which a number of players have complained about since launch, but some kind of penalty system will be implemented next week.
Until then, Capcom wants your help tracking down the worst offenders, by recording videos of them abusing the system and submitting it to them.
Disconnecting Players (aka Rage Quitters)
Yes, we are well aware of the problem of players disconnecting before the match ends to retain their League Points and their win streaks. Thanks to all of the players who have brought this to our attention.
We are working on a permanent solution to this problem, though we don’t have an exact date to share with you at the moment. That said, we are going to take direct action starting next week to punish those players who are abusing the system.
This punishment will be severe for the worst offenders, but we will need the community’s help with this. We will follow up with more details next week, but over the weekend, please record every instance of rage quitting you encounter.
The best way to do this is to use the SHARE function on the PlayStation 4 after the match has concluded, though any video evidence will suffice (Twitch archives, local recordings etc.).
Matchmaking
Much like the last update, matchmaking for both Raked and Casual modes is working as intended for most users, but we do understand this is not the case for some players in Europe, the Middle East and various other regions.
Several improvements were made this past week that should have decreased the wait time for many users in those territories, but we will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates when additional improvements are made.
That’s about it for today. Once again, if you have any feedback, please leave a comment here on Capcom Unity or shoot a tweet over to @sfvserver.
