No revenge meter, throws are whiffable and crouch teching is gone, No more invincible back-dash?! Holy Shieet, did C-master go to Capcom HQ and force them to make these changes? This game is looking good! No, but maybe they read my words I posted at one of the other sites way back when. Hallelujah.

No half circles! To be fair SF4 didn't have very many either. SF3 did tone down the input system a bit. I was always fond of CvS2's. No port for Xbox players! www.eventhubs.com/news/2015/jun/11/capcom-rep-insists-xbox-will-not-be-getting-street-fighter-5/In an interview with Gamespot, a Capcom representative has removed all doubt that Street Fighter 5 is truly a Playstation exclusive. Specifically, the representative made sure to note that the title will never ship for the Xbox One.
"One comment we see a lot is that something like a Super Street Fighter 5 is going to come out on Xbox," said the representative. "But the reality is that this is a real partnership. We are console exclusive for this franchise for this numbered run."
Besides this comment, the short interview continued to underline the importance of the partnership to Capcom, and how it allows them to do more for the game.
Hit the jump for more details. Further on in the interview, the Capcom representative continues to state that this new partnership will yield more not just in terms of marketing support, but content and gameplay.
"We’re not talking about how we’re handling post-launch content, but I can say the relationship with Sony does open doors for things we haven’t been able to do in the past," the representative said. "The relationship serves a gameplay and development purpose, and not just a marketing value."
Did you have any doubts to a future iteration of Street Fighter 5 potentially coming to the Xbox One? Do you think exclusivity divides the potential audience? How do you think this partnership may affect Capcom's traditional marketing values? Sound off in the comments below!

Here's the supposed speed: www.eventhubs.com/news/2015/jun/11/street-fighter-5-runs-super-street-fighter-2-turbo-speed-combofiend-talks-roster-accessibility-newcomers-and-more/Destructoid managed to get some hands-on time with Street Fighter 5 at an event in the bay area this week. At said event, they caught up with Capcom's own Peter "Combofiend" Rosas for an exclusive interview regarding the game in which quite a bit was discussed.
With the implementation of new mechanics such as V-Trigger and V-Skills, it's easy to wonder where the inspiration for such facets was derived from. Luckily for Capcom, they had an entire franchise filled with amazing concepts to reference.
"What we did was look at all the good things we've done over the years versus all the things players didn't necessarily like, so there are SO many good things, positive mechanics that people loved over the years," Combofiend explained.
"So we wanted to focus on that aspect, while also having the game feel new and fun. We thought the speed from Super Street Fighter II Turbo was appropriate, so we sped the game...but then, we also wanted each character to feel like a unique experience. When we looked at the V-Skills, we saw an opportunity to see how each character will feel different."
Interestingly enough, Peter seems to compare the speed of Street Fighter 5 to that of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo in the quote above. This should ease the concerns of those who feel the game looks a bit on the slower side. Remaining on the subject of the new mechanics, Capcom aims to achieve better balance in Street Fighter 5 and bridge the gap between seasoned veterans and newcomers by making V-Trigger and V-Skills simple to activate. Accessibility is key, but the company is also looking to retain the hardcore element we see in higher-level play.
"[Accessibility] was the one thing we wanted to maintain. For this one, we wanted to make sure everyone could access all the cool stuff. That being said, V-Skills are just two button presses, but they are unique for each character. The V-Trigger is the strongest unique ability that's accessed by pressing heavy punch and heavy kick together, so anyone who may have been intimidated playing Street Fighter because they couldn't access all the things that guys with high dexterity could, they can now do that. It goes back to that old-school feel where a fireball and an uppercut and pressing a few buttons could win you a few games. It goes back to the basics where you can just concentrate on the core mechanics, where it becomes a mind game versus more of a dexterity game."
So far, we've seen the return of Nash, M. Bison, Ryu, and Chun-Li and fans are currently wondering which fighter will spring up next. While Rosas was unable to outright state who the next character is to be revealed, he did shed some light on the thought process behind Capcom's selections.
"We looked at a variety of sources, but we wanted to make sure that with the roster we selected, it was characters that people would enjoy and it would be fighting styles that would be properly represented in the game, and also to make sure that everything put into the game had meaning. "
He continued, saying that the goal was to make even the returning characters feel fresh and new in this iteration. If Blanka makes a return, let's hope he's not quite as annoying to fight as he was in SF4.

I like the decisions made on the game mechanics so far. Let's just hope Capcom can actually keep this up. So far, I am interested in giving Nash and Bison a change. I like the premise of Ryu's parry mechanic. Chun Li finally looks how she is supposed to look (that art direction in SFIV sickened me. Specifically, the character's rendered in game play). Back dashes = Throw invincible. But, not hit invincible. Forward dashes = Also throw invincible. No crouch techs. No "Revenge" meter, Focus Attacks or Ultra. The player would need to have good defense to get out of pressure this time around and this aspect that I support. This time around, it seems like Capcom has learned quite a few lessons. Chain / Target Combos are here and seem to be a tad easier to perform (According to Mike Z's statement on fighting games, he did a mini-rant on SFIV stating that defense was meant to be a difficult while combos and offense was meant to be relatively simple. This is the same person behind Skull Girls production process and the programming of KI...)
I am going to make another small note about SFV. A lot of the changes made from SFIV to SFV is partially based on SFxT (to be more specific, SFxT:2013 Edition). The reason why a lot of people avoid that game is mainly because of the bad first impression it made and that Capcom was at it's very worse at the same time that Vanilla SFxT actually came out, becoming extremely infamous. SFxT2013 is (relatively) solid but... the first impression, the Gem concept, the mind boggling glitches and the screwed up DLC practices... took it's toll. SFV then goes to retify the majority of these issues.
I'll be back to discuss more later...

SFxT was unfortunate and the DLC thing was silly. Companies have been making stuff and charging later for a while.I remember PC expansions were done later back in the day (oldschool games), but games cost a lot more so they charge the "$60", then you pay like 2x as much to get all the content through some sort of download... games are also doing a pay as you go model too. My choice is to wait until it goes on sale. That said I do like the new direction. I want to see new characters though.

Rated M for mature? Apparently you can preorder it too: www.eventhubs.com/news/2015/jun/16/street-fighter-5-possibly-rated-mature-officially-available-pre-purchase-steam-pc-beta-details/The latest trailer for Street Fighter 5 was uploaded to the Street Fighter Facebook page today, which was certainly expected. However, what was not expected was in the video's description.
“ESRB Rating: Mature with Blood and Gore, Intense Violence”. It seems that Street Fighter 5 may have received a preliminary ESRB rating of Mature for the first time in franchise history, which is big news for the development of this new title. Though Street Fighter has its fair share of violence, it has never skirted above a teen rating, with "gore" being completely new for the franchise as well.
Another piece of evidence that points to this is that the archive for today's stream on Twitch has been labeled as mature content by Capcom as well.
Hit the jump for news on SF5's Steam details, including the PC beta. In other news regarding Street Fighter 5, Capcom has finally listed Street Fighter 5 on Steam, available now for pre-purchase. In terms of the early access beta, anyone who purchases Street Fighter 5 will gain access to the PC beta that takes place in the fall. The actual date of this beta will be revealed on the Steam page for Street Fighter 5 in the near future.
Note: One of the sources can only be viewed through a Facebook account.

Chun Li: "Boys. Face it. I CAUSED the M rating and I am not afraid to admit it." Now, look at the top picture. Look at Chun Li's face. Seriously! Just so you guys know, SFV games will be available in several Six Flags amusement park areas. You know what I should do? Go to Six Flags, pick Chun Li, leave it on the character select screen until the time runs out while looking around at anyone asking "whatchu' gon do?". On a serious note, I still don't see what the big deal is. All I see is Chun Li (and Cammy)... looking as hot as she was meant to be. And, gorgeous women in fighting games should NOT be a shocking factor at this point. This is not the 90's anymore... and this is CHUN LI we are talking about (y'know... the Queen of Thighs? Lightning Legs)?

So, Capcom clearly doesn't care and they honestly shouldn't.

They know what people like to see. Yeah, it's something I notice with foreign companies. They will put whatever the audience wants, which makes sense since you're paying for a product. So, naturally eye candy and the like should be included. I notice American games often try to force ugly women in games. Like I was playing splinter cell and one of the female characters: Grim. Is very unattractive in comparison to say a game from the same genre: Metal Gear Solid. Here's a comparison: Vs

Americans just cater more to the PC crowd because they don't want their image or sales, when in reality controversy helps sales. They should be embracing it and showing off more fanservice. They've actually uglified some females in games like Dragon's Age also.

Because mainstream media is dominated by leftists. The saddest part of this is that the bandwagon jumping isn't even for a legit reason. It's the "in" thing right now and people do it to fit in (unless they're fat, ugly or poor).
There are threads saying Cammy should be fat or be removed because nobody would play her otherwise. Lol.

I miss Germany. Because, I had a MUCH easier time relating to other who played fighting games, in spite of the language barrier. You know what Louffy (yes, THAT Louffy) said once? He said he loved to play Rose because of how lovely she looked. Insult to injury, he plays Mai, Vice and King VERY frequently. (He OPENLY acknowledged this to me at WGC years ago when we played! At the time, I was happy to run into another Mai and EX Kyo player... he plays EX Kyo as well. A darn good one). Americans are... hopeless when it comes to sexual conceptualizations in video games (or arguably any form of controversy in relation to video games on that matter, specifically to individuals that don't really play video games on ANY consistent basis). lol Even if some soccer mom tells me to stop playing Chun Li... you think I am going to? Me? Imagine that, and then start laughing at yourselves while you read this. I LIKE SEXY female video characters! And, also support pretty much anything that is cool about the video game in the first place. Because, that's how I roll.

They make the characters appealing in the first place so that people will play them. Most people out characters that look interesting and then stick with them if they like the style. That's how it works in real life. If the presentation is bad people just won't bother. How is it any different than picking Akuma because he looks "badass"? Also women are FAR worse than men in this regard, as all fangirls care about is looks and hot guys. When they are a fangirl of something that's all you hear about. Look at Inuyasha. All they talk about is Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, and Miroku being sexy. Men care about "badass" more than anything anyways.

Looks like they want this one to be more honest. They want to reward "hard work". www.eventhubs.com/news/2015/jun/23/name-game-commitment-street-fighter-5-not-forgiving-street-fighter-4-combofiend-developmental-approach-sf5/Exploring the abundance of Street Fighter 5 information attained from E3 stream interviews, we were able to get a pretty good idea of what gear developers at Capcom intend SF5 to be played in.
Taking bits and pieces from both Peter "Combofiend" Rosas and Matt Dahlgren, we've attempted to determine some truths about the general nature of the upcoming Street Fighter.
One of the points Combofiend drove home time and time again was wrapped up pretty well when he stated, "The name of the game is commitment, Street Fighter 5 is not as forgiving as Street Fighter 4." A central goal for developers in the creation of SF5 seems to be to revisit the more treacherous settings found in earlier Street Fighters.
Hit the jump to see what that means exactly. Honesty
When I first joined the local fighting game scene back in 2010, I'd often hear some of the senior members refer to SF4 as "noob-friendly," and then talk about Third Strike and Super Turbo as more honest games. Though I didn't understand it fully at the time, now I see what they meant.
Another one of Combofiend's more impressing statements in regards to the new game, "It's about if you play the character well enough. It's not given to you anymore, it's not about random damage." Now you're going to have to get your damage through good old fashioned hard work.
'Fiend's quote sounds like an attempt to move away from the option select-laden atmosphere of SF4. There were times during the evolution of SF4 wherein it felt like the only real times of competition were in the neutral game before the first knockdown, which leads us into our next point.
Earning Comebacks
One final quote from Combofiend, "You have to earn your comebacks with V-Trigger, you don’t just get to hit your ultra.” While there are Critical Arts in SF5, equivalent to Super combos, there aren't Ultra combos. The comeback mechanic is the V-Trigger, and it's usually a general enhancement as opposed to a single, damage-inducing action.
Not only do you have to gain your V-Trigger, but you have to thoughtfully implement it multiple times to actually make that comeback. This goes hand in hand with the previous section, you're going to have outplay your opponent.
Street Fighter 5 isn't going to have the training wheels that its predecessor sported. While you may have quite a lot of damage potential, you're going to have to earn the opportunities to actually dole it out.
What are your thoughts on Street Fighter 5 in comparison to previous Street Fighter titles? Are you excited with Capcom's apparent direction? Let us know in the comments.
