Cody hates being lectured and Blanka specializes in unpredictable movement - Two old school classics show up in Capcom's new Street Fighter 5 profiles
The latest two Street Fighter 5 character profiles detail my own personal main from Street Fighter 4, Cody, as well as perhaps the most hated character in Street Fighter 4, Blanka.
Both of these characters look a little bit different than last time we saw them, and if you're itching to learn more about the two, look no further. It's also worth mentioning that since neither of these characters were referenced in Street Fighter 3, this is the latest chronological look we have at the two, since Street Fighter 5 takes place after all of their previous appearances.
Introduction
He gained his electric powers in a battle with an electric eel! He unleashed fierce rolling body attacks!
(Those made for real painful counter hits back in the day...)
It's Blanka. His real name is Jimmy.
Basic info
Name: Blanka Height: 6' 3 (192cm) Weight: 216lbs (98kg) Blood type: B Birthday: 12th of February Country of origin: Brazil Likes: Samantha, arapaima, tropical fruits Dislikes: Army ants
Profile
Ever since the airplane he was riding as a child crashed in the depths of the jungle, he's survived on his own as a child of the wilderness.
His specialty is making fun of his opponent and using unpredictable movement.
Oh, and the "Samantha" listed in his likes is his mother!
Introduction
This time, it's the Final Fight protagonist, who brought down the crime organization Mad Gear with nothing but his fists (and knives, and steel pipes, and wooden swords).
This man knows all about beatdowns.
Basic info
Name: Cody Height: 6' 0 (185cm) Weight: 176lbs (80kg) Blood type: O Birthday: 18th of April Country of Origin: U.S.A. Likes: Picking fights Dislikes: Being lectured
Profile
Once, he was the hero who saved Metro City, but unable to adjust to a peaceful life, he was imprisoned after being involved in numerous violent events.
He's very well-versed in using knives. He has a younger brother named Kyle.

forums.shoryuken.com/discussion/comment/10822803/#Comment_10822803Concerning currently widely submitted questions (6/3)
Hello everybody this is Ayano.
In this blog, I would like to report on 3 questions which were widely submitted about Street Fighter 5.
1) Ibuki's release date
On May 31st we announced that Ibuki as the next DLC character, and received many questions concerning how the release date is later than originally presented.
(the blog post at the time can be found HERE)
We believe the source of this information is from Capcom-Unity, a community website managed by Capcom USA.
(a 2016 DLC Character Roadmap can be seen HERE)
However, in Japan this same kind of roadmap was not presented.
The reason why announced content is different by region in Japan and the United States is that prior to releasing information about Street Fighter 5, announced content is decided by each regional team independently in order to rapidly respond to the needs of players in each region.
This time when Capcom USA presented their roadmap, Japan's Street Fighter 5 team had also considered presenting this roadmap as well, but considering the current state of progress on development we concluded that, at least for Japanese players, we should not hold up expectations by releasing information that we could not 100% guarantee.
In the end dividing information by region brought misunderstanding and confusion among our all of our players. We fully realize our error in judgment and give our deepest apologies.
Starting from Ibuki moving forward, in line with the release date of new content and characters, we will announce the same information promptly across Japan, the United States, and the rest of the world.
source: www.capcom.co.jp/game/content/streetfighter/saikyoblog/1261Well this isnt good. Capcom japan and Capcom Usa not on the same page. This was from the Capcom japan blog and a user on srk translated it.

Red Bull and Capcom Join Forces for North American Pro Tour Finals, Announce Street Fighter V ‘Proving Grounds’ Tournament Series
Earlier today Red Bull announced that they will be running a series of Street Fighter V tournaments, dubbed “Red Bull Proving Grounds,” in six select cities throughout North America: Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Philadelphia, and Toronto. This tournament series is separate from the Capcom Pro Tour, but will offer a chance to earn a qualifying spot for the CPT for the player who emerges victorious.
These tournaments will be run as a series of events over the months to come, culminating in a final, all-expenses paid trip to an event to be held at Red Bull eSports Studio at Red Bull HQ in Santa Monica, CA. There are slots for three people to qualify from each American city, and one slot for Toronto. The winner of the finals event will be given the opportunity to play in the CPT North America Finals at Red Bull Battle Grounds from November 4-6 in Seattle.
It appears that Red Bull has decided to tap into the existing talent within the FGC, as each region’s event series will be run by well established tournament organizers from the grassroots FGCs within their respective areas. These organizers include:
•Eric Small of bigE Gaming (Philadelphia) •Larry Dixon of Final Round (Atlanta) •Alex Valle and Jimmy Nguyen of Level Up (Los Angeles) •Noah Vandercook of Ignite Gaming Lounge (Chicago) •Deniz Bengisoy and Chris Anderson of Northwest Majors (Seattle) •Justin Baisden of Super Steel City Fight Nights (Toronto)
The structure for earning points towards a qualifying spot for each region by playing in the Proving Grounds tournament series is as follows: •1st: 300 points •2nd: 250 points •3rd: 225 points •4th: 200 points •5th: 175 points •7th: 150 points •9th: 125 points •13th: 100 points •17th: 75 points •25th: 50 points •33rd: 30 points •49th: 20 points •65th or lower: 10 points

Not all Street Fighter 5 character models were designed by Capcom? Ibuki, F.A.N.G and Zangief's digital artists discuss their work As it turns out, not every in-game character model for Street Fighter 5 was designed and executed by Capcom. At least three of the game's combatants were outsourced and designed by the French company, Volta. This is actually not an uncommon occurrence in the realm of game design, but still fairly interesting to think about. The digital artists that created F.A.N.G, Ibuki and Zangief have recently offered tidbits of commentary on their work. This leads us to wonder how many characters, if any at all, Capcom did themselves for SF5. In any case, you can see what these Volta artists said about their characters after the jump. Ibuki - Marie-Michelle Pepin "On this project I was responsible for the creation of a main character, IBUKI and her costume set (yet to be released). I was responsible for the high resolution sculpt as well as the real time game model and textures." Pepin's Page. www.artstation.com/artist/mariempepinZangief - David Giraud "At Volta we have some amazing clients, and one of our great clients is Capcom. I had the chance to make Zangief. I sculpted him in Zbrush then lo-res and textures. It was a blast working on him. Working on Street Fighter is the ultimate dream." Giraud's Page. www.artstation.com/artwork/9RBYaF.A.N.G - Guillaume Mollé "I was lucky enough to Work on Street fighter 5 when i was at Volta. Capcom gave me FANG to model and textured. (Zbrush, Ingame Mesh then Textures.) As a newcomer in the SF cast, it was both challenging and exciting for me to work on him. Hope you'll all have ton of fun playing with this evil mind." Capcom Addresses Ibuki’s Delay, Input Lag, Rage Quitting In First Street Fighter V Development Update
Recently, Capcom promised that they would be more communicative about the development of Street Fighter V’s post-launch content. Now, they’re taking their first steps toward following up on that with a new development update post on Capcom-Unity.
In a post titled “Updates on Street Fighter V Development Vol. 1,” Neidel “Haunts” Crisan addresses a few important issues: Ibuki’s delay, the game’s inherent input lag, and rage quitting.
In Ibuki’s delay, Haunts reiterates the fact that she was originally supposed to be released at the end of May. However, as previously stated, they had to delay her to the end of June, making her release alongside the cinematic story mode instead.
In addition to this, Haunts once again admits that they could have been more communicative about the situation. While they had planned to talk about the delay this week, he states that it’s clear that they should have been “more upfront with everyone about the timing.”
Furthermore, he states that Capcom will be targeting quality above all else which may result in additional delays in content deployment. However, he promises that they will be more transparent with these updates.
Regarding the input lag that the game has, Haunts has acknowledged that they are aware of the issue and have communicated it to their development team. Said team is looking into the issue and he states that they’ll let the community know when they find out more.
Finally, in regards to rage quitting, Haunts is happy to report that, with the latest changes to the system, the amount of players who leave in the middle of a match has been brought down by 60%. While this is an improvement, he states that it is clear that they still have a lot of work to do and that players should expect further measures to address the problem.
Haunts ends the blog by stating that they do have more news and information to share in the coming days and weeks.

Ibuki's pet can use ninjutsu and the Mad Gear gang has corrupt workers within the F.B.I. - Street Fighter 5 profiles for Don-chan and Damnd
The two latest Street Fighter 5 profiles don't really go together with eachother, but when has that ever stopped us?
Here, you'll get some depth into Damnd, the Final Fight boss who I'm sure many among us have struggled against, and in commemoration of Ibuki's recent gameplay trailer, her beloved furry little friend, Don-chan.
Introduction
From the spirited Mad Gear Gang, it's Damnd.
Yes, that hateful guy who calls in his allies by whistling.
His revolving kick might've been plain-looking, but it sure hurt.
Basic info
Name: Damnd Height: 218cm Weight: 201kg Blood type: A Birthday: 10th of September Country of origin: U.S.A. Likes: Strawberry Sundaes, money Dislikes: Hardships
Profile
He's the very culprit who kidnapped Jessica, the daughter of Metro City's mayor, Mike Haggar.
He's very concerned about winning, no matter what kind of dirty tricks he has to use.
He also has corrupt men on the inside of both the local police and the F.B.I.
He really loves money.
Introduction
Because of the occasion, we're doing a slight divergence - It's Ibuki's beloved pet tanuki!
A tanuki, how nice... And the tail...
Basic info
Name: Don-chan Height: 55cm Weight: 8kg Blood type: Unknown Birthday: Unknown Country of Origin: Japan, Shinobi Village Likes: Ibuki, persimmon Dislikes: Cars
Profile
He's from Shinobi Village. He's been with Ibuki since he was a baby!
There are apparently tons of tanuki living near the village, but Don-chan is the only one who can use ninjutsu techniques.

Yea I was talking about that earlier. That makes the deadlines for this even more bothersome. No shop, character delays, broken lobbies. They were clearly too ambitious with this project. The Proving Grounds thing is interesting. Wondering how that will turn out.

One of Street Fighter 2's veterans shows up alongside his very own father in the latest Street Fighter 5 profiles.

His hair ornament is a memento of his father, Arroyo Hawk.
Introduction
This character sure comes off as an enthusiast.
He's the hero of the Thunderfoot tribe.
He's fought against master Bison in the past.
Basic info
Name: Arroyo Hawk Height: 212cm Weight: 140kg Blood type: O Birthday: 30th of June Country of origin: Mexico Likes: Clear water Dislikes: Lies, alcohol

Ibuki story mode costume revealed at Street Fighter 5 Crash
The Street Fighter 5 crash team tournament has definitely brought us our fair share of competitive play, but the most recent installment brought us a bit more along for the ride.
This time around Ono showed up with an Ibuki reveal in tow, showing off a still in her story mode, and a screenshot of the costume in game.
Looks like in order to work for the Kanzuki estate, you have to dress like a Kanzuki.

Is there a chance Juri could be the next Street Fighter 5 character released? Ono speaks with Gameshot about DLC
Capcom's Yoshinori Ono sat down with Gameshot to participate in an interview about Street Fighter 5, and Capcom's recent ventures.
Now though we know the six DLC characters that will be joining the game's roster this year, there's been quite a bit of speculation amongst the community on the exact order they'll be released in.
Many figured Balrog would be next in line for the month of May, but the most recent reveal showed us that Ibuki is actually the third DLC fighter, albeit we won't have in the game until the end of June.
At one point in the interview, Gameshot asked Ono about Capcom's approach to releasing each new character, and how they're going about choosing the order.
The entire article is in Korean, but luckily NorCal's Kelvin Jeon was able to help us with translations. Here's a snippet from the interview:
Gameshot: "New character Ibuki has been announced, but what exactly is the standard that new characters have to meet before being released?"
Ono: "It depends on the quality of the development of the said characters, which in the most recent case, happened to be Ibuki."
Jeon notes here that his impression is that whichever character is ready first will be the next one that makes it into the game. If true, this would imply that the remaining characters could come out in any order. This makes the very next thing Ono states very interesting,
Ono: "Korean character Juri will be announced later so please watch out for that."
We're hesitant to jump to any conclusions here, as Ono may have just been pandering to his Korean audience in the moment, but it's also something we can't just gloss over.

"A new post surfaced just recently on Capcom Unity, which explained a lot about Street Fighter 5's upcoming Story Mode, but that wasn't all.
The post noted that Urien, Juri and Balrog are all going to be playable in the story mode - So we're not just getting our first taste of Ibuki this month, but the rest of this year's remaining DLC characters as well. A bunch of images posted by Capcom are featured below. Street Fighter 5 Story Images image #1 Street Fighter 5 Story Images image #2 Street Fighter 5 Story Images image #3 Street Fighter 5 Story Images image #4 Street Fighter 5 Story Images image #5 Street Fighter 5 Story Images image #6 Street Fighter 5 Story Images image #7 Street Fighter 5 Story Images image #8 Street Fighter 5 Story Images image #9 Click images for larger versions
For further details directly from Capcom, continue below.
The SFV Story Expansion is a 3~4 hour experience titled “A Shadow Falls” and will be released at the end of this month as free DLC to all SFV players. The 5 chapter story takes place between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III and bridges the events that happen in between the two stories. This is the first time in franchise history that fans will be able to play through this type of cinematic experience in a Street Fighter game.
The Street Fighter V Cinematic Story Expansion, “A Shadow Falls,” depicts the ultimate battle between the evil Shadaloo organization and the heroic World Warriors who rise up against them. Seven “Black Moons” are deployed by Shadaloo, granting M. Bison unimaginable power and enveloping the earth in total darkness. Seeing the moons mysteriously appear in the sky, Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li embark on an epic journey around the world to retrieve fragment pieces that are the key to stopping the “Black Moons” before it’s too late. Along the way, they encounter the rest of the World Warriors, each of whom have their own agendas and motivations in mind. The final battle between good and evil begins now… who will RISE UP?
The next related piece of awesome news: all six DLC characters are fully playable in the story mode. That’s right, in addition to Alex, Guile, and Ibuki, that means that Balrog, Urien, and Juri are also playable! The official release of these characters will not be until later in the year, which means everyone will get to play them in advance through this mode. For the DLC characters that haven’t been released at the time the story comes out, those characters shouldn’t be considered final or tournament ready, as they still need to be properly polished and balanced. So, think of this as a free preview of the characters and enjoy playing with them before they get officially released in the other competitive game modes.
Finally, you’ll be able to earn Fight Money from completing the story mode as well! A higher difficulty becomes unlocked after clearing the normal mode, which you can also earn extra Fight Money from:
Normal Mode= 30,000 FM
Extra Mode*= 50,000 FM
TOTAL= 80,000 FM
*Extra Mode (higher difficulty) unlocks after you complete Normal mode
The post on Unity went into further detail regarding something entirely different, namely the continuously delayed Zenny system implementation. Here's what was said about the Zenny system.
We have an important announcement regarding the in-game currency system. We will no longer be introducing Zenny to Street Fighter V as a real money currency option. After extensive testing and development, we came to the conclusion that it was not necessary in order to carry out our original vision for the product. Instead, we will be utilizing the PlayStation Store and Steam stores to carry out real money transactions.
Our plan for the in-game economy of SFV was always to provide players with choice. Fight Money remains as the basic currency that players can earn for FREE through gameplay and utilize to purchase characters and other awesome downloadable content like stages and costumes. For players who want to just purchase the content outright, instead of introducing Zenny, the process will be much more familiar with purchases happening through the established first party infrastructures.
The in-game store will be upgraded with the PlayStation Store and Steam real money purchase options as part of the update in late June. At the same time, the free trial period for Alex and Guile will come to an end as we previously had stated. Players will need to either obtain the characters through Fight Money, real money, or the season pass to continue using them after the update. We hope that everyone has enjoyed throwing down with these fearsome fighters and feels inclined to pick them up after testing them out during the free trial period!
We know fans have also been wondering about how content will be priced, so we created this handy chart which breaks down the content in Fight Money and real money pricing:
New Characters — 100,000 Fight Money — $5.99/€5.99 New Stages — 70,000 Fight Money — $3.99/€3.99 Alternate Stages — 40,000 Fight Money — $1.99/€1.99 Story Costumes — 40,000 Fight Money — $1.99/€1.99 Premium Costumes — $3.99/€3.99
Further, here are details on what else to expect in the June update:
The premium Battle Costumes for every character released so far will go on sale this month, and will be available for purchase with real currency only.
Story mode costumes will also be available for purchase this month, meaning you will no longer need to complete the Character Stories to gain access to the content. Story mode costumes can be purchased with either Fight Money or real currency. We’ll be breaking down all of the costumes coming with the June update in another blog this month. There may be even more surprises in store, so stay tuned!
Daily Challenges are currently being re-tooled and optimized for the game, and we will share the new timing of this feature as soon as we more details. The feature will now be called “Targets,” and they will still be daily goals for players to complete and generate Fight Money, which can be used to purchase in-game content like new characters and costumes. New single player modes including Extra Battle and Versus CPU are also in the works. We’ll share more details on these modes and features as soon as we can.
That’s all for now, but stay tuned as we’ll take a closer look at the many June update features in the days and weeks ahead. "

Ono - If [Street Fighter 5's] Story Mode can't lower the barrier of entry for new players, we'll come up with different content'
In a recent interview with Gameshot, Capcom's Yoshinori Ono revealed some pretty interesting Street Fighter 5 information.
The interview is in Korean, so we've been translating bit by bit with some help from ROG|Kelvin Jeon. We heard yesterday about Capcom's approach to releasing SF5 DLC characters and the potential of getting Juri next, and we continue our investigation today with Ono's mentions of Ibuki and the game's other upcoming content.
Since she was announced at the end of last month, the community thought has been in somewhat of a limbo in regards to Ibuki. We've seen playable builds of her, but understand that she won't be finished until late June.
Ono does confirm that Ibuki will be available to play at E3 however, and so we'll be getting some hands on time with her very soon. "Since E3 is next week, attendees (or players) will be able to get hands-on time with [Ibuki]," he said, and then went on to touch on the game's Cinematic Story Mode.
Capcom has been under a bit of scrutiny for not having enough single player modes in Street Fighter 5, but will be adding a much anticipated brand new one very soon. The game's Cinematic Story Mode was originally announced for June, and it seems that things are still on schedule in that department.
Ono expressed excitement to bring the all new story experience to more casual SF5 players, "With the new story mode being ready, we're aiming to make it so that casual players will have an easier time enjoying the game."
Ono continues on to show that Capcom still very much has its sights on bringing in newer faces to the game, even if that means developing content beyond what's already planned,
"If the new story mode can't lower the barrier of entry for new players, we will come up with different content to accomplish this," he stated.

C. Viper's reputation has her being called 'Miss Perfect' - SF5 profile shows what C. Viper looks like during missions, regular work and when at home
One of the latest profiles uploaded to the CFN portal is of Street Fighter 4 newcomer C. Viper, but this one actually has several images of her in different outfits.
First off, she has a new battle suit which differs from her SF4 clothes, but there are also images of what she tends to wear to work when not undercover as well as casual clothing she wears at home with her daughter.
Introduction
She's enveloped herself in a special battle suit. Yes, she's the mysterious spy called "Miss Perfect!"
Apparently, she's currently investigating Shadaloo.
Basic info
Name: Crimson Viper Height: 175cm Weight: 56kg Blood type: AB Birthday: 18th of July Country of origin: U.S.A. Likes: Lauren, money Dislikes: Working overtime
Profile
She's a tough and smart female agent.
Her actions are very businesslike, and she doesn't act through sympathy or social obligations.
The various attacks she brings forth from her suit, filled to the brim with various weapons, are a true threat.
She manouvers through many different places in secret, but her true colors are shrouded in mystery.
We have several images of her!
The second picture is her look when she spends time with her daughter, Lauren.
The third one is what she wears to work when she isn't doing any secret infiltration work.
Hey, you have a cute daughter to take care of, what are you doing snooping around Shadaloo?!
We're working hard here, so PLEASE DON'T SNEAK IN!

'The dev team has been super busy with the June update; It's a massive update to the game' - Haunts takes to Reddit to keep the community posted
In the wake of Ibuki's delay, Capcom has promised to communicate more clearly with Street Fighter fans moving forward.
Capcom's Haunts is putting effort toward making good on that promise, as he's been speaking with the community directly through the /r/StreetFighter sub-Reddit.
Mainly what's been addressed thus far is trying to build some accountability moving forward, but Haunts has also tried to help a couple of users with some issues that they've had with Street Fighter 5.
It's definitely good to see someone stepping up to the plate to try and rectify some of the blunders that have happened since Street Fighter 5's release. Perhaps this is the first step of many that lead to setting things right.
