Can't wait until this September release to see what they've cleaned up. Definitely ready for a re-balancing at the end of the year.

Rejected Street Fighter 5 stage concepts shared; Kanzuki Estate rooftop, bath house, and more After sharing several designs for rejected Street Fighter 5 alternate costumes, Capcom has transitioned into unveiling a handful of concepts for stages that didn't make the cut. Luckily, our very own MajinTenshinan was able to sift through and translate the full Japanese blog post. Below is just one design to get you started, but be sure to hit the jump to see the rest. "There's a reason these were discarded! "Hello, everyone. Here are some designs for stages to fight on that ended up being discarded. Today, we're focusing on the Kanzuki estate. Man, this place is huge..." "Kanzuki Estate - Entrance Hall" "They use the 'God' kanji (the first half of Kanzuki) as a symbol. This feels a lot like the famous Kaminarimon in Asakusa, Tokyo, which gives a real good feeling. "It was set as a night stage." "Kanzuki Estate - Courtyard" "This is the courtyard to one's right as one enters through the entrance hall. The left side has a large pond. "There are huge transportation vehicles present in the courtyard. I suppose that's to be expected of the grand Kanzuki family." "Kanzuki Estate - Corridor" "These are the stairs that connect the 1st and 2nd floors. Even though it's just a regular corridor, there are 108 armored figures mounted by the walls. "The circular area in the middle is actually a hidden elevator that's used by the Kanzuki ninja corps." "Kanzuki Estate - Bath" "This is one of 80 bath areas that exist within the Kanzuki grounds, the 'Kanzuki Raijin Yu'. The water is emitted from the mouth of the large Tengu mask mounted on the wall. "The effect of the water here is on par with the water at the 'Honda bath', apparently. Meaning, it helps build muscle, it works against joint pain and it prevents sensitivity to cold." "Kanzuki Estate - Recreation Room" "There are over 50 enormous TV screens in here. The birds you see flying outside aren't through a window, but on a monitor. "This room isn't just for young lady Karin, but is open for all employees to come and cheerfully relax in. There's bowling, ping-pong tables, billiard tables and lots of other stuff available." "Kanzuki Estate - Rooftop" "There's a heliport on this rooftop. This mansion has over 80 floors, so from the rooftop you can see Mt. Fuji as well as Tokyo's entire skyline with just one glance. "And that's about it! A very Japanese-styled gorgeous living area, is it not?" "It feels like we could make at least 20 stages just from the Kanzuki Estate alone... "Well, until next time!" Reminder: Double Fight Money event kicking off this weekend; Street Fighter 5 server currently down for maintenance
Street Fighter 5 is currently undergoing server maintenance.
The official Street Fighter 5 server Twitter account let followers know earlier today, saying that we'll be offline until 5 p.m. PDT tonight.
Server maintenance so close to the start of September has fans thinking that this might be in anticipation of an update, as Capcom has been known to do. While most are hoping that this is a sign of Urien's arrival, it could also be to prepare for something that has slipped our minds -- Street Fighter 5's first Double Fight Money event. Last we heard, this event is scheduled to run beginning this Friday, September 2nd through the Sunday the 4th. During this time, players will earn double the amount of Fight Money for playing ranked matches.
This maintenance could also be making way for the September update, which will bring Daily Targets, vs. CPU, and more. You can check out a recap of what next month's update will entail below.
Additional Features
The next September update will include:
• VS CPU Option • Daily Targets - Daily challenges with Fight Money rewards! • Fighter Profile Updates! • Free colors for Season Pass holders - Colors 3-10 for Default and Battle costumes of the 6 DLC characters • Premium costumes will now include colors! - Colors 3-10 of the purchased premium costume • Color bundles available for purchase via FM or Real Money - All 22 Characters’ Default & Story Costumes Color Pack 3-10 • And more to be announced!

People have been complaining about losing their FM if they used the one round mod. Some seem to have lost nothing though which is weird.

Capcom serves players who illicitly acquired Street Fighter 5 resources with punishment; Fight Money reportedly deducted Last month, Capcom made it clear that they'd be aiming to crackdown on players who cheated the system in order to unlock Street Fighter 5's in-game content. It looks like they are beginning to deliver on that front. This morning, we have received several reports of players who admitted to illicitly acquiring resources having much of their Fight Money deducted. We included two images: an off-screen photo and a direct screenshot, to further prove the authenticity of the message. One user told us that they used the PC mod that sets every difficulty level of Survival Mode to only one round, making it much easier to unlock all the colors. After being served with this morning's punishment, they noticed that some of their Fight Money was taken away, but the unlocked colors remain in tact. On Twitter, ElChakotay explained that he had 600,000 Fight Money prior to using the proxy method to increase his purse. Bringing that money up to 1.2 million FM, today's punishment deducted the amount that was illicitly added, leaving Chakotay with 600k once again. www.reddit.com/r/StreetFighterMods/comments/4c2p8s/sfv_proxy_unlocking_tutorial_pcps4/?st=isj1p8z9&sh=748e0607As the in-game notification reads, anyone who chooses to continue using these hacks to unlock Street Fighter 5's content will be at risk of having their Fighter's ID deleted. I don't seem to have lost any thing on my account. Good for me. It doesn't seem to communicate with the server until after survival is cleared, so it's best to just take your time with it from what I see.

Combofiend: We conceptualized a lot of characters when deciding Street Fighter 5's roster; could CFN Portal profiles be hinting at future DLC? For the past couple of months now we've been translating various posts from Capcom's CFN Portal that highlight characters from the Street Fighter universe, and give little bits of updated information and newly designed images. Given the climate of the Street Fighter 5 culture and community right now, the discussion of future DLC content for the game is inevitably going to come up when viewing these. Why exactly is Capcom doing this? Are they hinting at future characters for SF5? Back at E3 this year, we were able to speak with Street Fighter 5 Associate Producer Peter "Combofiend" Rosas, and during out talks the topic of future Street Fighter 5 DLC came up. During this part of the discussion, we asked him exactly why Capcom keeps coming out with all these characters, new and old, on the CFN portal site. "It's concept art," Rosas said. "It's giving the community greater insight as to what we were working on when we were developing the game." That seems like an awful lot of extra work for a fairly small return does it not? That response implies that SF5 developers went through a myriad of different characters when choosing the roster. By that I don't mean they simply listed all previous fighters from Street Fighter and other Capcom games, they took the time to write out updated story bits for each and every one of these characters. "When the fans ask 'Why didn't my favorite character make it into the game?' or 'What would my character look like in Street Fighter 5?' (The CFN profiles are) give you a little taste of that," continued Combofiend. Okay, so that's a fair statement from the Capcom rep, but in these profiles we've also seen the playable cast of SF5, which leads us evermore towards the thought of whether or not we can identify possible future DLC fighters in them. The concluding statement from Combofiend kind of left the doors wide open for us: "We conceptualized a lot of characters when we were deciding who would make it and who wouldn't, and you're seeing the fruits of that." That essentially tells us that any of these characters are up for grabs should we see a second or third batch of newcomers. Urien is set to drop some time in September, but he'll be the final DLC fighter of season one, and already people are talking about the potential of a season two of DLC fighters in SF5. Given that we now have the game's story, are there any fighters from the CFN posts that make more sense to include? Source: eventhubs

Should recently discovered option selects be removed from Street Fighter 5? According to Combofiend's statements, they may be Transitioning from the option select laden Street Fighter 4, developers for Street Fighter 5 made it a point make their new title more commitment based. It seemed as though players were going to be forced to have their grabs be grabs and their jumps be jumps. That didn't quite happen. Shortly into the Capcom Pro Tour, we noticed some top players implementing an odd jump back light kick upon wake up and reset situations. We'd later find this to be an option select that covers just about every one of the go to attacks one would use on an opponent's wake up. Capcom made a move to get rid of this in a later patch, though it seems we're still seeing players using a form of this on the regular. We spoke with Street Fighter 5's Associate Producer, Peter "Combofiend" Rosas, at E3 on this matter directly. He explained that Capcom didn't really mind having some option selects in the game, as long as they were extremely hard to execute. We may now have a problem on our hands. Over recent months we've seen other option selects surface. Some of these, like the jump cancel V-Trigger technique, don't seem incredibly practical or easy to abuse. www.eventhubs.com/news/2016/aug/23/jump-cancel-v-trigger-technique-discovered-street-fighter-5-avoids-throws-and-keeps-player-ground/Others such as the anti-V-Reversal parry/dash option select are a bit more daunting. www.eventhubs.com/news/2016/aug/14/did-ryu-just-get-even-better-option-select-allows-him-parry-v-reversals-monstrous-damage/Here's what Rosas said at E3: "Option selects are still present, but they're extremely hard to do. If you want to take it to that extreme and master those option selects, you can try, but trying to land something where you only have a frame to get it right every time can be more detrimental than positive in this game." The above quote was said in a discussion about the aforementioned jump back/throw tech OS, but the question now can be applied to these newer tactics. This second option select really isn't very difficult to perform, so does it line up with the criteria Combofiend has laid out for exterminating such sequences? We may not see them being used with a ton of prevalence now, but as the game evolves they could very easily become mainstays. Should Capcom nip them in the bud, or should they allow them to continue to exist? Perhaps the simplified way of assessing this is to ask whether or not these OS's go against what Capcom wants to achieve with SF5. Source: eventhubs

Capcom Releases Tokyo Game Show Schedule, Hints of New Street Fighter V Information
With Tokyo Game Show right around the corner, Capcom released their stage schedule for the event. While most of it revolves around Resident Evil, one item of note dealt specifically with Street Fighter V.
Street Fighter V will be the first game featured on Capcom’s stage at Tokyo Game Show, being displayed from 10:25-11:05AM JST on Saturday, September 17th. Mentioned in the outline of their Street Fighter V stage presence is that it will feature producer Tomoyaki Ayano and 2015 Capcom Cup champion Kazunoko. But what is more important on this schedule is the last sentence saying, “There may be some new information, too!”
While it says that there “may be” some new information, we can assume that Capcom is indirectly stating with the inclusion of Street Fighter V at the showcase that there will certainly be new information. But what will this new information be? Will it be the unveiling of Urien? Will we see that and more? Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for their Tokyo Game Show showcase!

Urien's official trailer unveiled, release date to be announced at Tokyo Game Show It's time, folks! Capcom has released Urien's official Street Fighter 5 trailer. In the latest Capcom Unity blog, we learn that the release date for this DLC character and the September updates will be revealed at Tokyo Game Show next week, which begins on September 15th. Urien made his debut back in Street Figther 3: 2nd Impact. He is the Vice President of Illuminati, and looks to overthrow his brother Gill as leader, then destroy Shadaloo. He's sadistic and elitist, and gets joy out of making others crumble at the sight of his power. In Street Fighter 5, Urien is back with a pin-striped suit and a big smile on his face. He has strong normals, long combos, and slow moving projectiles that allow him to better pressure the opponent. Adding to his ability to apply pressure is his Aegis Reflector, which makes its return from the Street Fighter 3 series. V-Skill: Metallic Aura Urien laughs maniacally while enveloping his body with his Metallic Aura. Once charged, his skin tone darkens and the next forward-propelling special move can temporarily absorb one attack. V-Trigger: Aegis Reflector Urien opens his arms and creates an energy barrier in front of him. The barrier will reflect projectiles back at the opponent and the direction held when activating the V-Trigger determines where it appears. Opponents who touch the barrier without blocking will take damage and be knocked back. With a full V-meter, Urien can project two barriers. Critical Art: Dominate Crush Urien channels energy into his arm and slams it into the ground, striking his opponent with a pillar of destruction. Source: eventhubs

Yoshinori Ono no longer attending Tokyo Game Show this weekend
Capcom is gearing up for another strong presentation at Tokyo Game Show this weekend. Kicking off on Thursday and running throughout the weekend, the company who brings us Street Fighter, among other things, has much planned for this event.
Unfortunately, Executive Producer on the Street Fighter series, Yoshinori Ono, will no longer be attending TGS. According to a recent tweet, Ono is not feeling too well, and he stated that he'll be skipping this year's festivities.
At Tokyo Game Show, Capcom will be holding their Japan Cup 2016 tournament, a Capcom Pro Tour premier event that grants the winner a guaranteed spot on the Capcom Cup 2016 line up. The best of the best from Japan will undoubtedly be competing, so if you're looking for some top-notch Street Fighter 5 action, be sure to tune in.
Not only that, but Capcom has previously stated that the release date for Urien and the September updates will be unveiled at the expo. Ono is often at the helm of these large announcements (when he is in attendance), so it's a shame that we won't be seeing him bring the hype this weekend.
We wish you a speedy recovery, Mr. Ono.

Street Fighter 5's biggest online troll is back to the top ranks of the CFN leaderboards... LOL It was about two and a half months ago that Capcom took measures to strike TOOLASSISTED from the Street Fighter 5 online leaderboards. The data-delving player gained quite a bit of notoriety for creating an SF5 bot that would simply react with a counter to every single move its opponent would do. His online account, RZR_Infiltration, quickly shot to the top of the leaderboards, becoming a prime target for Capcom patrols. Despite having all of his League Points removed and his account apparently banned, TOOLASSISTED has somehow made his way back to the number three spot in the world, this time with Juri: Despite his cheating his way to the top, it seems the general response from the community is to chuckle and shake their heads as opposed to get angry and demand repercussions. This may be because of the amount of frame data and hitbox information he shares on his Twitter account. Source: eventhubs

How did we miss this blatant grammatical error in one of the most common Street Fighter 5 screens?
We can't be all that upset with Capcom because we didn't notice this ourselves in the last seven months, but there's a pretty obvious grammatical error in the post online match screen.
As Logansama points out on his Twitter, the Wins and Losses screen actually reads Wins and Loses. Logan shows us in his Tweet below:
No doubt plenty of people have noticed this, but it's still pretty baffling that Capcom has not yet changed it. While it's not on the same priority level as perhaps altering the input lag, we'd still like to see this eventually fixed in the English version of the game.

Servers down Wednesday for Urien patch? Street Fighter 5 maintenance scheduled for tomorrow Urien's official release date will be revealed at Tokyo Game Show this week, and Capcom just announced that the servers will be going offline Wednesday morning at 10 a.m., and will stay offline for three hours for server maintenance, or possibly longer. If I were a betting man, I'd say the two events are related in some way — although it's possible we won't see Urien until a later time, as Capcom has made no official announcements — and this could be a ramp up to his official playable date to get some data files in place. Street Fighter 5's sales were very weak in Japan - Capcom cites overseas numbers as main contributor to 1.4 million
We've discussed a number of times how Street Fighter 5 moved 1.4 million copies, but according to recent statements on Capcom's Investor Relations page, much of that did not come from Capcom's home country of Japan.
"Street Fighter 5 (for PlayStation 4 and PC) remained a perennial favorite and maintained steady sales mainly overseas," wrote Capcom.
Digging a little further into this statement, we checked out Media Create's sales numbers.
Media Create is best thought of as the Japanese equivalent of the NPD, a group which tracks sales of games. The last time that Street Fighter 5 charted in the Media Create top 20 was during the Feb. 29 through March 6, 2016.
It came in at the 17th position overall back then, with a total of 59,553 units moved — but it's important to note that this was for the PlayStation 4 release only, and did not include the PC.
While that number has certainly went up over the last several months, 60,000 units is the last number we have an official quote on, and considering the game moved 1.4 million total units — 60,000 isn't much.
Capcom stated multiple times in their recent investor relations report that Street Fighter 5's numbers were driven heavily by overseas consumers.
Of all of the people generating revenue for this title around the globe — it's pretty clear the vast majority of those fans live outside of Japan now.

Behind the scenes look at Street Fighter's development - photograph of motion capture process used to flesh out animations Motion capture is a common practice in a number of video games, to help achieve realistic animations and movements, but I haven't seen much of this documented by Capcom through the years. A photograph recently surfaced on Capcom's Investor Relations page showing two actors performing moves for Street Fighter in motion capture outfits, and that data being fed into a computer to the development team to work on. We don't always get to see little behind the scenes details like this about our favor titles, and it's just a fun small thing I wanted to share with our readers. Source: eventhubs

Some good comments agreeing and disagreeing: HooliganComboFTW
SFV definitely underperformed in sales for a AAA with an IP as iconic as Street Fighter. The 40k~ on launch was pretty bad. Persona 4 Arena for example got 100k+ week 1 and that game had a fraction of the budget.
The last place value being at low 60k~ is also not very promising for legs since the only games in Media Create that has legs are MineCraft on Vita or Splatoon that ranked for an absurd amount of consecutive weeks. I doubt it even reached 100k by now. Also to the inevitable "b-but no PSN or Steam sales!" that is irrelevant in Japanese sales. The retails by far are the clear majority in Japan because Japanese gamers tend to care more for physical merchandising that is associated with purchasing a game at a retailer.
Also note 1.4 million are SHIPPED not sold which is the same PR smokescreen that Microsoft did when they talked about how the Xbox One did. Even if 1.4 was SOLD that is still pretty bad for a AAA well known IP game on PS4 + PC internationally at this point. Remember 2 million by end of fiscal? Lol.
I remember ZhugeEx posted a chart comparing SFV sales to other fighting games and it was pretty pathetic how much of a gap when comparing SFV to MKX [another AAA well known fighting game IP] sales for example.
SFV didn't flop, but I doubt Capcom [and their stockholders] were impressed either outside of PR mode. Then again considering how much of a mess SFV was on launch and arguably still is now im not too surprised this impacted sales negatively.
Zephyrus
I know you like to bash the game out of... whatever reason that goes through your head, but let's be objective here please.
Japan numbers can be explained. First, the ps4 had about half the sales that the ps3 did when both games were released.
Second, the japanese market has shifted towards mobile gaming. There is a decline in the console market in Japan.
Third, for Capcom and other companies shipping is what counts as a sale for them. Yeah, we don't know how much SFV sold through. We do know that in the first two months of it's life, Capcom shipped 1.4 Million units of SFV. 1.4 million in february and another 100k in march. From there, we don't know how much the game sold and it's been 5 months since the last sales report.
Fourth, SFV is a platform. Initial sales don't matter. What matters is if the userbase grows. And for that Capcom plans to add content and update the game's mechanics. And Capcom will release updated versions of the game. Anyone that doesn't expect one hasn't been paying attention.
Fifth, comparing SF to MK sales is disingenous at best. MK is an anomaly in the genre. Even in the 3D era, when the games were bad, MK still managed to outsell pretty much every fighter.
Sixth, you "forget" to mention that SFV had a lot of bad word of mouth. Ignorants that ignored what Capcom said, didn't inform themselves about what they were buying and then went online to cry about their ignorance and how capcom was going to nick and dime them and how it was a travesty to sell a game with less content than what they had before... completely ignoring that said content was coming, was free and if they wanted a more complete experience day 1, they could wait.
Seventh, it's also pretty disingenous to compare persona 4 arena week 1 sales with SFV when the install base of both consoles was quite different.
Let's be objective here please. Whether you like the game or not, there are explanations for the sales.

Necro's girlfriend Effie might be suited for battle, Guile should go home to his daughter Amy and be a family man, Makoto's father passed away in disgrace, Guy's master reformed Bushinryu after his own skills Introduction This time, we've got Guile's only daughter, Amy. She's a completely normal person, but she's the daughter of THAT Guile, so it does feel like she'd be able to let out at least one Flash Kick, doesn't it... ? Basic info Name: Amy (Chris in Japan) Height: 166cm Weight: 42kg Blood type: O Birthday: 19th of April Country of origin: U.S.A. Likes: Her cell phone, Dee Jay's music Dislikes: Getting up early, spinach Profile She's always worried about her father, since he's so consumed with his work. She has absolutely no interest in fighting (actually, she hates it). She frequently uses her phone to send emails, and actually has Dhalsim's son Datta as a penpal. She's a very kind young girl towards everyone she meets, and often plays with her younger cousin Mel, and tries to help people who are troubled. She also goes on walks with her beloved dog Sabu every day. Guile must be happy, having a nice daughter like this. He should just give up on Shadaloo and go home and be a family man. You've got a family to take care of too, you know. Introduction A mysterious girl who was captured by a secret organization. She's apparently had some sort of experimenting done on her. Either way, that secret organization sounds really mean! Basic info Name: Effie Height: 152cm Weight: 40kg Blood type: Unknown Birthday: Unknown Country of origin: Unknown Likes: Red Dislikes: Secret organizations Profile This girl, Effie, was experimented upon just like Necro was. She seems to have been given special abilities meant to put her in the front lines of battle. She's, uh... Holding a chainsaw, isn't she... ? Introduction Today, we'll be covering the unfortunately already deceased Masaru. He was the father of the karate girl herself, Makoto. Hm, I feel like I've seen that gi he's wearing someplace before... Basic info Name: Masaru Height: 176cm Weight: 78kg Blood type: B Birthday: 22nd of May Country of origin: Japan Likes: Alcohol, challenge-minded people Dislikes: Beni shōga, weaklings Profile The former instructor at the Rindokan Karate Dojo in Tosa. A real nice guy who stood up gallantly against any hardships, and disliked crookedness above anything else. He traveled to many countries across the world which housed great people, to try his own skills against them. He was so caught up in his training that he let the household at home go to waste. He faced a crushing defeat when he crossed the ocean, to South America, to battle strong opponents. He returned home in disgrace. He left this world shortly after. His special moves were the fiercely powerful anti-air move "Fukiage" and the hooked strike "Natsugusa". Introduction He sure looks like a Bushinryu person. Apparently, he used to be Guy and Maki's master. Which would make him quite the warrior, no? Basic info Name: Zeku Height: 181cm Weight: 89kg Blood type: A Birthday: 29th of December Countr of origin: Japan Likes: Potato chips Dislikes: Stiff shoulders Profile The 38th successor of Bushinryu. A master of taijutsu. During his prime, he was referred to as "God-Speed Zeku". Nowadays, he stays one step behind Guy, protecting him from the shadows. Originally, the Bushinryu of the Genryuusai family was much more based in various Ninpo techniques, but Zeku injected a lot of his own taijutsu skills into its teachings, making it into a much more practical fighting style.
