Well, they said the arcade scene is like a social thing and maybe people won't enjoy playing Street Fighter outside of that scene. Another good point is that Japanese players might be so picky they won't put up with the problems it had on launch.

Fade In! Capcom Celebrates Street Fighter 2010’s 26th Anniversary with These CFN Profiles Back in August 1990, Capcom released a side-scrolling action platformer known as Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight. It was marketed as a futuristic spin-off title to the original Street Fighter, despite having nothing to do with the original franchise. However, Capcom USA, in an effort to create SOME form of link to the original series, changed the protagonist’s name from Kevin Straker to Ken, implying that he was the same Ken Masters we all know and love, who became a futuristic scientist 25 years after returning home following a victory in the original World Warrior Tournament. However, the game has become infamous for its difficulty, soundtrack, graphics and unique game mechanics, and it’s remained somewhat of a joke among SF purists. In celebration of the title’s 26th Anniversary, the CFN Portal site has released character profiles on the two main characters of the game, in addition to formally stating where the title falls in terms of the overall canon of the Street Fighter universe. Released in 1990 for the Family Computer (the Japanese equivalent of the Nintendo Entertainment System, also known as the Famicom), it sported the name “Street Fighter,” even before the arcade edition of “Street Fighter II” (1991). It was not a fighting game, but a side-scrolling action title, in the same vein as “Mega Man,” “Ghosts N’ Goblins,” and “Strider.” It’s setting is in a Parallel Universe, in respect to the world of SF. Basic Info: Name: Kevin Straker Height: 180cm Weight: 160kg Blood Type: Unknown Birthday: February 15 Home Country: United States Likes: Justice, Peace Dislikes: Parasites He’s a galactic cyborg policeman, in a 2010 Earth where humankind has begun to colonize and emigrate other planets, fighting against heinous and brutal criminals who implant themselves with “armored insects” named “Parasites.” His codename is MX-5. He could use sonic energy bullets as weapons, fired from his punches and kicks, and an emergency evasive flip jump (a back somersault). During the flip, he is totally invincible, and if he has taken shield capsules, he can shoot flip shields from his feet, in a combination of both offense and defense! As mentioned, in the overseas version, “Kevin” became “Ken”: after his victory in the Street Fighter tournament, he triumphantly returned to the U.S.A. and enrolled in university. After 25 years, he once again fights–to find the culprit who killed his friend and fellow researcher Troy! (If you decide to accept this as a parallel timeline…) Basic Info: Name: Dr. Jose Height: 171cm Weight: 89kg Blood Type: Unknown Birthday: April 12 Country of Origin: USA Likes: Studies, Coffee Dislikes: Celery He’s an authority in the field of biotechnology, and developed the “Armored Parasites,” able to multiply the abilities of anything they infect: be it plant, animal, or machine. He aims to create the perfect and strongest lifeform. In the USA version, he’s not “Jose,” but becomes “Troy.” Troy is Ken’s fellow researcher, and has developed the “Cyboplasam,” to enable the migration to other planets by, and make life possible for, the human race, but he is killed and his studies stolen… Source: shoryuken

Capcom reiterates plans to keep updating Street Fighter 5 to their investors
If you thought Street Fighter 5 was going away any time soon — think again.
Capcom briefly spoke about their intentions for the game in a report to their investors, stating that they have additional plans to update the game from the next fiscal year onward.
For those who don't closely follow their business, this last fiscal year for Capcom ended on March 31, 2016, so the next fiscal period would end on the same date in 2017.
"Capcom plans to continuously update game content [for Street Fighter 5] from the next fiscal year forward," they wrote. Back in November of last year, Capcom stated they had plans for a second wave of DLC characters, which we should start seeing in 2017.
At the time Capcom cited 'ambitious plans' and 'a very long term strategy' for the game, and coupled with the above statements, it's very likely that we'll be seeing support for SF5 for the next several years to come.

The Bustling Side Street "noodle-head" KO will be joined by transitions for these stages: Shadaloo Base Hillside Plaza Underground Arena Forgotten Waterfall Union Station Kanzuki Estate City in Chaos Apprentice Alley Lair of the Four Kings www.eventhubs.com/images/2016/sep/16/another-new-street-fighter-5-stage-transition/But if that's not enough for you, fans can also expect to see the implementation of Daily Challenges, Versus CPU, and Fighter Profiles, as well as a number of bug fixes. Daily Challenges will allow players to earn extra Fight Money each day in different modes. Rewards will range between 100 and 5000 Fight Money, and each challenge will be live for a limited time, so be sure to login and complete the challenges before they're gone. The Fighter Profiles section will become more fleshed out once the September update drops. You'll be able to more closely analyze your habits and stats very soon. Bug Fixes • The issue which added an additional frame of lag to PlayStation 4 fight sticks on PlayStation 4 has been identified and patched. Now input time is unified across PlayStation 4, legacy controllers and PC. • Juri's V-Reversal was unintentionally able to hit downed opponents under specific circumstances. Juri's V-Reversal was corrected so that it cannot hit downed opponents. • Juri's invincibility during her V-Reversal was unintentionally short. This was corrected by setting the invincibility on Juri's V-Reversal to 14 frames after the hit box of the move disappears. • When Ibuki was hit during a crouching fierce, she would unintentionally go into a standing state damage animation. This has been corrected so that when hit during a crouching fierce, Ibuki goes into a crouching state damage animation. • The light version of Yoga Sunburst would fire regardless of whether the player was holding down punch or not. This has been corrected so that when the charge portion of L Yoga Sunburst is guarded, holding down LP will maintain the charge motion. • When the tip of jumping LP hits an opponent or is guarded during Dhalsim's V-Skill, the Critical Art gauge would increase rather than the V-Gauge. This has been corrected so when a jumping LP hits an opponent or is guarded during Dhalsim's V-Skill, it now builds V-Gauge. • When Dhalsim performs an airborne Yoga Teleport against an opponent on the edge of the screen and performs a jumping attack afterwards, the jumping attack would be performed in the opposite direction of the opponent. The directional determination after Dhalsim appears from an airborne Yoga Teleport has been corrected, making it more difficult for this to occur. • Under certain circumstances, moves that only hit opponents in a standing state would unintentionally miss during certain standing states. This has been corrected. The hurtboxes on characters recovering from getting hit out of the air, allowing moves that are designed to hit standing characters to properly hit. Additionally throw attacks that normally miss on crouching characters will no longer be able to connect on characters recovering from getting hit out the air as they transition to a crouching state. • After the attack frames of Birdie's jumping LK ended, Birdie’s hurtbox would unintentionally remain absent in his recovery frames until he landed. This has been corrected by setting a hurtbox to Birdie's jumping LK recovery frames, until he lands. • Currently, the game counts a disconnect between the “Another fight is Coming Your Way” screen until you pass-through the results screen by selecting “find another match” or “exit to main menu”. The range a disconnect penalty will be assessed will be changed to be between from when “Another Fight is Coming Your Way” to after League Points (LP) and Fight Money (FM) have been calculated on the “Results” screen. Street Fighter 5's September update aims to refine the ragequit punishing system Ragequitting has been a thorn in the community's side since Street Fighter 5's release; between players abusing the system early on, to countermeasures punishing innocent players, it's safe to say that the current punishment system leaves something to be desired. When it comes to trying to improve on this part of the Street Fighter experience, there is a bit of good news coming. The major patch update coming next Thursday has some adjustments in place aiming to alleviate some of the issues that players have had with being punished unjustly. The current timing window in place causes some issues for players who want to do things like share clips or close the game without going all the way back to the main menu. According to the patch notes, the game will no longer count disconnects once league points and fight money have been calculated. This should come as good news for players that were somewhat worried about being punished for simply playing the game. Punishment system fix Currently, the game counts a disconnect between the “Another fight is Coming Your Way” screen until you pass-through the results screen by selecting “find another match” or “exit to main menu”. The range a disconnect penalty will be assessed will be changed to be between from when “Another Fight is Coming Your Way” to after League Points (LP) and Fight Money (FM) have been calculated on the “Results” screen. Street Fighter 5 color packs are on their way, Capcom clarifies exactly what you'll get with each purchasable bundle
The go-to single player mode when Street Fighter 5 dropped back in February was Survival, an endurance gauntlet that would unlock character colors upon completion.
While nabbing a character's third costume color by completing the 10-level easy setting on Survival was a breeze, finishing the 30-level normal setting for colors four, five and six was much more difficult, and completing the 50-level hard difficulty was cause for many players to throw their controllers out of frustration.
Thus many players seldom sought to obtain colors seven, eight, nine and 10, seeing the difficult and time-consuming Survival Mode as simply not worth it.
Capcom recently promised to make colors purchasable, and have since specified further exactly how this will work.
They followed this up with another Tweet that read, "Example: Original Character Default Pack includes colors 3-10 for all 16 original #SFV character's default costumes."
Season pass holders will automatically get colors 3-10 for all 16 original characters. The game's four DLC characters' colors will be available as well for $1.99 or 40,000 Fight Money.
- Original Character Default Color Pack (3-10) - 85k FM/$4.99 - Original Character Story Color Pack (3-10) – 85k FM/$4.99 - DLC Character Default Color Pack (3-10) – 40k FM/$1.99 - DLC Character Story Color Pack (3-10) – 40k FM/$1.99

Save the planet from Bison in whatever threads you like - Upcoming patch to allow costume select in the cinematic story mode It appears that what Capcom brought to Tokyo Game Show wasn't all that they had to show off this weekend. During Japan Cup 2016, Capcom took a moment to reveal even more content coming to Street Fighter 5, aimed to be released in November. Among the content coming in the next patch is an update for the cinematic story that will allow the player to choose whatever costume they like for each character. Taking another run through A Shadow Falls with some of the goofier costumes the game has to offer could make for a fun diversion. Source: eventhubs

Why exactly has Capcom rearranged the Street Fighter 5 character select screen for Urien? Fan theories for future DLC begin to circulate The sixth and final DLC character for Street Fighter 5's first season drops this coming Thursday the 22nd, and excited fans can't wait to get their hands on Third Strike Illuminati villain, Urien. We recently saw some footage of the Urien build when Capcom Japan showed off the character at Tokyo Game Show. We caught a few glimpses of the updated character select screen, which sees a few fighters switched around for no apparent reason. The first image below is how character select looks now, the second is with Urien: This has led to some interesting speculations about future DLC for the game. As you may have noticed, Urien seems to be forced into the left side of the cluster instead of being simply placed on the far right to balance the image. Juri is sent to the opposite side, Ibuki bumps over one space and Guile drops down to the far right. We're not exactly sure why Capcom decided to shuffle the DLC fighters about like this, but some discussions on Nono_Allah's Twitter have our interests piqued. We do expect at least a second wave of DLC characters, but looking at the way developers are organizing the select screen has prompted some to foresee a full third row added to the bottom. This would imply seven more characters on each side to fill out fully, totaling a roster of 36. This is total speculation at this point, as we could very easily see a complete reorganization of this screen in the future, much like what happened between Vanilla Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4. Will Street Fighter 5's Daily Targets usher players back into the game's online grind? Next week's Street Fighter 5 patch is introducing a ton of new content, and seems to be bringing with it the final components needed to make SF5 a completed game in the eyes of community members. Up until this point, we've seen very obvious shells of intended content that have not been filled yet. The game's Story Mode was on the Main Menu from the start, but only selectable after some months into the game's life. We've also seen challenges on the Fighter Profile menu, but these have been dormant since February. One of the most exciting additions to next Thursday's update are Daily Targets, which very well may re-hydrate players' quests for unlocking SF5's extra content. According to the most recent Capcom Unity blog, Daily Targets will offer the chance for players to grab 100-5,000 extra FM. Daily Targets New Daily Targets will be available to help you earn extra Fight Money to purchase additional content. Fight in a ranked match to earn 1000 Fight Money. Spend a little time playing in training mode to earn an additional 500 Fight Money. Each Daily Target has a time limit so don’t forget to log in and cash in on these. Rewards will range between 100 and 5000 Fight Money. At this point it's somewhat unclear as to whether the challenges will tie into Daily Targets or not. It could be that players will have to perform a certain collection of challenges with certain characters to get the daily reward, but we won't know until the patch actually drops. This new way to earn in game currency looks to be a breath of fresh air for players. Outside of getting a few bursts of coin from one time play throughs of character trials and stories, the main grind becomes earning 50 FM at a time for online wins. The occasional leveling up of a character gets you 1,000 FM, but the process can become quite tedious when a new character costs 100,000 FM, new stages run for 40-70,000 and colors go for 1,000 or more. This new means of coming across Fight Money very well may draw out those of us who lean more towards the completionist side of the gamer spectrum. Source: eventhubs

That's interesting about the targets and everything like that. It won't salvage their bad launch but it will get some of their old base back in the game again who were frustrated with it.

If they're able to get people to keep purchasing content by constantly appearing in the news then they might be able too.

It could indeed help, but like 90% of a games sales are in the first month or so when the game is hot, after that you have some fans and late buyers and people who are just curious. They're past the point for the initial steam especially with all of the bad reviews, but hopefully the online life improves.

They're past the point for the initial steam especially with all of the bad reviews, but hopefully the online life improves. The reason i say that is games like DOA 5 have been making money just by releasing expansions for years now. I think SF5 was going for something like that.

Well yea that whole point about the "long term approach" is true, but SFV was plagued with bad reviews and had a half functional game at launch. It'll keep it's loyal fans and it will do better than more niche fighters but it won't get to SF4 sales or anything like that. It's unlikely. I see what you mean though.

I agree with you, I don't think it will get SF4 numbers. The launch was too bad and there are much better alternatives.

I think if the issues are addressed it could be a very solid game.
Will you be picking it up again if that's the case?

Capcom Cup 2016's winner will help design a special Street Fighter 5 character costume; Haunts provides update on the 2016 Pro Tour The 2016 Capcom Pro Tour is nearing its grand conclusion -- the Capcom Cup in December -- and Capcom's own Neidel "Haunts" Crisan has released an entry over on PlayStation Blog to let fans know where the tournament season stands at this point in time. Over the weekend, we saw the reveal of the "mystery costume" that players who purchased Street Fighter 5's Pro Tour DLC bundle were eventually going to receive. Haunts explained that this alternate outfit is actually special in that last year's Capcom Cup winner, GGP|Kazunoko, not only chose the character who received the costume, but provided feedback to help develop the new digs. Kazunoko said that the reason for choosing Necalli as this special costume recipient was because the character looked cool, and he hopes that this new look would make more players try out the warrior. The winner of this year's Capcom Cup will be awarded the same treatment. The champion will work with Street Fighter 5's development team to create a special costume for the character of their choosing that will immortalize their victory. If you'd like to get your hands on Kazunoko's special Necalli costume, you can purchase the Street Fighter 5 CPT bundle. Doing so not only nets you three new costumes, a new color for all characters, and special titles, but proceeds from these purchases are tossed into the Capcom Cup 2016 prize pool. In fact, since the DLC bundle was first released back during EVO this year, fans have contributed over $90,000 to the Capcom Cup prize pot. Below is a projection chart displaying Capcom's goals for the proceeds. As of right now, the total Capcom Cup 2016 prize pool is $342,182, and there's still over two months before the event. Brand new Urien footage in Street Fighter 5 also reveals easily the funniest stage transition we've seen yet
During a recent live stream from Capcom Japan we got to see more footage of the game's upcoming DLC character in all his Illuminati glory. Said glory was greatly reduced once we saw Urien crash into the hot dog stand on the far left part of the stage.
Something about wearing a giant hot dog on his head takes away from Urien's ominous presence:
The Urien bout begins at 6:17.
