Capcom responds to question: Why are you releasing Street Fighter 5 DLC instead of adding additional modes or improving existing features?
Today's Street Fighter 5 blog post from Haunts discussed quite a bit about Capcom's Pro Tour DLC content, and the FAQ at the end of the post delved into some hard hitting questions.
This FAQ clarified some fairly straightforward topics like how much of the CPT DLC revenue will directly go to support CPT initiatives, how long this bonus content will be available for and why the bundle is only on PlayStation 4. It concludes however, with a question that almost caught us by surprise.
"Why are you releasing DLC instead of adding additional modes or improving existing features?"
This question seems to be a set up to directly address the angry mob-esque members of the SF5 community before they light torches and grab pitchforks for their protest of this subject in particular.
Why are you releasing DLC instead of adding additional modes or improving existing features?
The Capcom Pro Tour DLC and all other DLC is part of the content road map that we have for the game and has no effect on the team that is working on addressing various improvements for Street Fighter 5.
Many of the things that are important to our fans are being worked on in parallel and we’ll update everyone on any new features and improvements once we have concrete information.
That said, we believe that improving existing features and adding additional modes is equally as important as supporting and growing the fighting game community. The transparency here is sure to be appreciated by fans, as is the reassurance that Capcom is still working on parts of the game that aren't quite up to par yet.

Urien can charge st. HP and HK for better / more damaging combos; Capcom's latest character introduction features the Vice President of Illuminati It's Urien week, everyone! The moment we've all been waiting for is drawing ever nearer. On Thursday (Friday in Japan), Street Fighter 5's September update will be seeing an official release, and will bring us new stage KOs, Daily Challenges, bug fixes, and much more. But the largest draw for this update is the arrival of Urien, the game's final DLC character for this season. The Street Writer over at Capcom Fighters has put together a character introduction video to get players better acclimated with the Vice President of Illuminati. In this video, we learn about his V-moves and general gameplan, as well as a few interesting tidbits such as his ability to charge standing heavy kick and heavy punch to gain more hitstun and launch into better combos. www.eventhubs.com/images/2016/sep/20/urien-character-introduction/Source: eventhubs

Input time will be unified across PlayStation 4, legacy controllers, and PC when Street Fighter 5's September update drops Street Fighter 5's September update is only a couple of days away now, and with it will come some flashy new content for players to get their hands on. On top of that, though, fans can look forward to a handful of bug fixes that are aimed at enriching the Street Fighter 5 experience for everyone. One such fix comes in the form of an extra frame of input lag on PlayStation 4 fightsticks when used on the console. In their recent blog update detailing the September patch, Capcom noted that they have located the issue that causes the difference in input times and have since corrected it. PlayStation 4 fightstick lag fix The issue which added an additional frame of lag to PlayStation 4 fight sticks on PlayStation 4 has been identified and patched. Now input time is unified across PlayStation 4, legacy controllers and PC. Lag time tests have shown that the average latency differs between PC and PS4 by about 1 frame, with the latter being slower to respond. @may 19, 2016 at 10:09pm Posted by NyuNozomiHyuga thacmaster.proboards.com/thread/2110/street-fighter-announced-cross-play?page=81Capcom is looking to unify the input times across all platforms with the next update, which means that fans won't have to practice for the Pro Tour exclusively on PS4 anymore. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LI Joe to Street Fighter 5 community: The game's input lag was clearly intentional, stop whining about it The latest episode of The Jump-In podcast features American EVO hero LI Joe as he and Kim1234 walk about Japan and discuss all things Street Fighter 5. Meandering around Yoyogi park, Kim brings up an array of topics such as how Japanese play contrasts with American play, which characters Joe wants to see in season two and how big of a deal SF5's eight frames of input lag really is. Joe feels those who complain vehemently are more or less making a mountain out of a molehill. "It sucks that it's there," says Joe, "but I feel people jump to [the eight frames argument] for a lot of s***. Stop." He also says that the input lag is "clearly intentional", citing the long length of time hit boxes remain active as evidence. You'll see the full interview, which covers plenty more, below. The segment on eight frames begins at 21:50. Source: eventhubs

Street Fighter 5 servers projected to be down for 10 hours preceding tomorrow's patch According to the Street Fighter 5 Server Twitter, the game's online functionality will be dark for a full 10 hours tomorrow. From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. PDT, no one will be able to use the game's online features. While these blackout windows are nothing new to the SF5 community, 10 hours is quite a bit longer than the usual. Capcom does not always use the full time they project, and will sometimes relaunch servers early. This update is bringing with it not only a new character in Urien, but also new game features and bug fixes as well. We'll keep you updated on when the patch officially drops and when you can get online to finally play as Urien. Source: eventhubs

Seraphyx Explains How DLC Has Affected Street Fighter V’s Player Count DLC in Street Fighter V can be polarizing. Some content has been positively received by the hardcore community, while some has driven them away. However, what about the casual community, and the people on the fence that drive new revenue for Capcom? Seraphyx seeks to answer these questions with scientific examination. Using the Bayesian Structural Time Series, and scraping daily Street Fighter V player counts on both the PlayStation 4 and Steam platforms, he attempts to find exactly how each DLC release has changed the player base in Street Fighter V. He also compares the player count to other fighting game titles, such as Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- and Mortal Kombat XL. What was found was that after the releases of characters, the game enjoys a jump in players briefly, followed by a return to their usual numbers–not a surprise, really. However, with the DLC drop that included Balrog, Ibuki, and the cinematic General Story Mode, the game enjoyed a large and steady increase. It is therefore possible that Story Mode brought more players into the game than the new characters have. For more of the science regarding this, please visit the link to read the full article. seraphyx.wordpress.com/2016/09/19/how-dlc-increases-player-counts-a-look-into-street-fighter-v/Source: shoryuken

Logan Sama and TheStreetWriter Break Down Street Fighter V’s Urien in This Special WSO Session Ahead of His Release
Street Fighter players are foaming at the mouth in anticipation as the master of the Aegis Reflector is ready to launch in the long awaited September 22 update. To that end, last night saw WSO regulars Logan Sama and TheStreetWriter hosting a detailed breakdown of the final release version of Urien, which may have had some changes since the version seen in the General Story Mode of Street Fighter V.
The only caveats of the stream were that we could not see Urien’s exact damage output or his Premium costume, but everything else was fair game. After about 30 minutes of analysis and checking out his moves and their properties, the two spend the rest of the stream playing some games to see if Urien still holds up against the current roster of Street Fighter V.

It's back! Urien sheds his suit to reveal the classic Third Strike costume in Street Fighter 5 Fans of Urien might be familiar with his Street Fighter 3 Third Strike intro. You know, the one where he powers up and his suit explodes off of him to reveal his... revealing fighting attire. That animation is one of the character's trademarks, and people love it. Let's be honest, if you could shed your suit whenever you wanted simply by being a badass, wouldn't you do it? If you've never seen the intro, you can check it out below. www.eventhubs.com/images/2016/sep/21/uriens-third-strike-intro/Anyway, Third Strike fans were hoping to see the same intro in Street Fighter 5, and though Urien does appear in a fancy suit, this time he keeps it on to fight. But it looks like Capcom threw in a little Easter egg just for said fans. Earlier today, the Street Fighter Vine page shared Urien's Street Fighter 5 animated trading card. It shows a couple of quick in-game clips of the new character, and ends with what appears to be an alternate version of his intro where, you guessed it, he sheds his suit to reveal the classic Third Strike costume. vine.co/v/5n0d6YO722LBy looking through the game's files, PC players discovered the visual FX for this new animation, though it wasn't tied to the intro. Instead, killbox101 linked it to Urien's Critical Art, and this clip gives us a closer look at what we can expect to see in Street Fighter 5. Source: eventhubs

Urien will be CPT tournament eligible next week, won't be usable for EGX tourney this weekend
Urien will now be a playable fighter in Street Fighter 5, but he won't actually be tournament eligible for a week after his release.
A premier Capcom Pro Tour event is happening this weekend with EGX, which is going to be a great event, but fans of the character will have to wait a bit longer to potentially see him in the hands of tournament players.
The weekend after features events Fighting Games Challenge and Abuget Cup, which we might see a bit of the character in action. ESL's Brooklyn Beatdown decided that Urien would not be eligible for their event, though.
A week after that, we've got premier event South East Asia Major, and in the U.S., The Fall Classic, and both of these events always have spectacular competition, so it'll be interesting to see if we see the newest DLC character featured there.

Urien joins the roster, stage KOs added and more - Street Fighter 1.06 patch currently available for pre-download while servers are down The 1.06 patch is currently available for pre-download, so that you're ready to launch the game with all of its updates intact. The patch is 7.187GB in size, and containts Urien as a playable characters, stage KOs and more. Patch Contents • Playable character Urien available for purchase. • New stage KOs added to the game. • Daily challenges to earn more Fight Money. • Several bug fixes. • Versus CPU mode added. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9/22 Client-side Security Update Hello Street Fighter fans, As a part of the new content and system update releasing later today, we’re also rolling out an updated anti-crack solution (note: not DRM) that prevents certain users from hacking the executable. The solution also prevents memory address hack that are commonly used for cheating and illicitly obtaining in-game currency and other entitlements that haven’t been purchased yet. The anti-crack solution does not require online connectivity in order to play the game in offline mode; however, players will be required to click-confirm each time they boot up the game. This step allows ‘handshake’ to take place between the executable and the dependent driver prior to launch. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-game Daily Challenges slide gives us our first look at what to expect; Versus CPU currently live in Street Fighter 5 Street Fighter 5's latest update is available for download right now, but it won't go into full effect until the servers come back online around 7 p.m. tonight. Despite that, some of the new additions from the patch have already started trickling into the actual game. Street Fighter 5's new Versus CPU option is now up and running. If you'd like to take on computer controlled opponents at varying difficulty levels, now you can do so. The new feature also gives you the option to start on the player 2 side, if you're more comfortable fighting on the right side of the screen. Additionally, upon starting the game after the update, players are being prompted with an in-game slide that explains how the new Daily Challenges will work once they're officially implemented. You can see the slide, along with some screenshots of Versus CPU below. As we can see in the aforementioned gallery, the Daily Challenges image actually lists out a handful of example challenges. Up until now, we've only heard of what these missions could entail, but haven't seen any real listings. Daily Challenge examples "Come One, Come All" - Start: Aug 1, 2016, 9 a.m. - Deadline: Sep1, 2016, 9 a.m. - Reward: 1,000 "Perform Ryu's Hadoken 30 times!" - Start: Aug 1, 2016, 9 a.m. - Deadline: Sep1, 2016, 9 a.m. - Reward: 1,000 "Perform Ryu's Hadoken 20 times!" - Start: Aug 1, 2016, 9 a.m. - Deadline: Sep1, 2016, 9 a.m. - Reward: 1,000 "M. Bison: Win 30 Ranked matches!" - Start: Aug 1, 2016, 9 a.m. - Deadline: Sep1, 2016, 9 a.m. - Reward: 100 These challenges give us an idea of what we can expect to see once the update officially drops later tonight. With Halloween a little over a month away, we should expect an official announcement from Capcom in the near future. Effie's appearance highly suggests she'll be a part a background. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 'Evil Nash' alternate costume reportedly found in Street Fighter 5's new update files; all 10 colors for Necalli's new outfit People keep making discoveries in Street Fighter 5's latest patch files. A new costume for Nash has reportedly been discovered in the September update by SFV Mods. As of right now, the alternate look is being called "Evil Nash," as there is no official description of it yet. First and foremost, Urien is now available as a playable character. He can be purchased for 100,000 Fight Money or $5.99 USD / €5.99 / £4.99 real currency, and at no extra charge to anyone who purchased the season pass.

This week's Daily Challenges
• Use a V-Skill 10 times: 100FM • Fight in a Ranked Match: 1,000FM • Clear Cinematic Story Mode: 500FM • “Sakura’s important Errand”: 5,000FM Some PC players are experiencing issues when trying to access Street Fighter 5 post-updated. Here is an excerpt from the latest Capcom Unity blog with instructions on how to fix.
"Add StreetFighterV.exe to the antivirus exception list. Add StreetFighterV.exe to the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) exception. More info on DEP here[www.softwareok.com].
If you receive the "You cannot turn off DEP for this program" error message, temporarilydisable DEP altogether to validate if it’s DEP that’s preventing the game from launching.
If the game still fails to launch after disabling DEP, the problem lies elsewhere such as the aforementioned antivirus software false-positive situation. Turn on DEP again and continue troubleshooting."

What it appears Capcom tried to do was to make it so that people couldn't use certain programs on PC to get instant wins to unlock easy fight money (things like trainers, etc).
The problem is that kernels can open up all kinds of issues and other companies (including Sony) have been sued over this.
I'll wait and see what comes up of it and let you know.

Street Fighter V Anti-Cheat Patch Raises PC Security Concerns, Capcom to Rollback Changes The Street Fighter V September update brought in Urien and a host of other features–but for PC users, one such “feature” is Capcom’s patch to shut down cheating. Some will applaud and some will decry the intention, but it’s causing technical issues for many PC players–and an aspect of this patch points to what may be a significant security issue for PC Street Fighters. According to Ars Technica (and examinations on a number of Reddit threads), because of Capcom’s client-side (rather than external) verification of your in-game unlockables and purchases, Capcom’s anti-cheating protocol grants kernel access to your system–“drill[ing] into a client’s kernel access to make sure users are playing nice,”–in a manner that could be “back-door” exploited. Read Ars Technica’s full breakdown of the kernel concerns here; as well as discussion on Reddit here and here. arstechnica.com/gaming/2016/09/street-fighter-v-has-begun-asking-for-kernel-access-on-windows/www.reddit.com/r/StreetFighter/comments/544tg5/warning_to_all_sfv_pc_players/www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/545cjy/sfvs_new_pc_update_is_accessing_kernel_level_in/Capcom seems to be taking user concerns seriously, however, and have spoken up on Twitter: Hopefully this matter is resolved quickly–and effectively–for the PC side of the Street Fighter V community! The shills for this game are pants on head retarded. Got some comments so you didn't have to go digging through that sewer known as Eventscrubs: Reply @kingkazma #12
"PC Boyz brought it on themselves IMO. Drove CAPCOM to F up something that they could have spent F'ing up something else had PC boyz left well enough alone"DriveCancelled
"This is nothing to do with 'PC Boyz'. If Capcom implemented a half decent security system like League of Legends or DOTA does to prevent hacking unlocks and currency this wouldn't be a conversation."MetabolicFrolic
I sure know I didn't create any mods or go digging around in the system files. Why should I be lumped in with those that "brought this on?"
Get out of here...The sad part is people arr still gonna defend this POS game and Capcom.

Clothing is optional for the vice president of the Illuminati - brilliant easter egg has Urien's Third Strike costume hidden inside
Fans of Urien's Third Strike threads should be excited to know that suits are completely optional in Street Fighter 5. In a nod to the classic game, Capcom slipped in an easter egg that gives Urien an alternate intro.
If you're holding the light punch, medium kick, and heavy punch buttons while the match is loading, Urien blows his suit away as he comes to meet his opponent. This trick works no matter which of Urien's costumes you select:
xhttps://clips.twitch.tv/thisislijoe/InnocentGaurArgieB8
It's definitely interesting to see Capcom give Urien an alternate introduction; he certainly stands out as a character, and a fun addition like this can only add to the hype.

Deflecting to NRS in order to protect crapcom:
"Casually, yes.
Tournament scene? Hell no.
NRS games can't even keep their fanbases over a year because of all the whining and patching the game goes through.
Look at every single EVO since MK9 came out. It's always a sharp decline in entrants, every year. This EVO alone, MKX lost almost half their entrants from last year."

*Sigh* the minds of some of these people...
Seriously, why are they bringing up Evo numbers? Who gives a rats ass? Those will dwindle every year and this is a *major* concern over a game that is broken with a *kernel* level issue. Are these morons so dense that they'll support anything at any cost even if it makes their own company look bad.
They should be begging Capcom to fix this, for the sake of the population of players and the company's dwindling reputation.
These morons are pathetic.
