People just trying to rationalize this. I knew this game was gonna undersell, but not to this extent. People hating on MK on SRK:

The majority of people who are fans of MK are fans of the characters and the story, not the gameplay; they also love a lot of the LOL GORY stuff. As long as MK continues to pack story mode and other random shit that doesn't matter to versus, the games will sell because that's where the vast majority of its fanbase lies. They could probably get rid of local multiplayer and just have it be an online game and still sell if the single player content is strong enough. Not even that, half the modes are shit anyway. What gimmick? MK sells. The game has personality. the characters have personality, the game has a twisted and bizarre sense of humor that I enjoy, and I'm nothing more than casual MK at fan at best.
It's far more entertaining than anything Capcom does with SF. Sure it's a getting a full story mode, but it's just gonna be some Light Novel bullshit as usual.
MKX went esports before Capcom did, and it must have been fairly successful if they willing to dump bad netcode and install a working one.....that will help the future of NRS games in esports.

MK and Smash rely on their brand as well but they actually make some fun products with lots of content. I just don't get why these FGC players are so dumb they can't grasp that people want more options to play a game. I like to play competitively and have fun but I don't want just online and training for $60. I loved Alpha 3 because it gave me so much to do and to do with others like dramatic battle. I didn't feel like I was grinding away all of the time. More options means more people to play the game which means more sales and a longer life. Even if they don't like it that doesn't mean that others don't either.

These people will buy anything with Capcom slapped on it.

I wouldn't dumb the game down. Just polish it up, make it accessible, and add lots of gameplay modes for variety. There's no excuse nowadays.

The gameplay is solid for the most part. It's just the anemic content and slow updates. You have to be an idiot to think a butt slap will keep people from buying Street Fighter 5. Most of the complaints have been stated and outside of a vocal minority it's mostly oriented towards game content not female representation. I demonstrated the same issue with Final fantasy 15. People played up the female representation issue when in reality it wasn't the issue.

The gameplay is great, plays a lot like the old school stuff while looking all around solid with some nice music.

The content however is just terrible. The censorship definitely hurt more than the slap because the people who who would be upset over something like that weren't playing it anyways.

Actually the TE+ stick has no touch pad for PS4...TE2+ has the touch pad and better input latency. So I had to spent another 200 bucks to get it the quality that I want. Why I'm not angry at this? Because both sticks does and perform exactly as it should wether it's missing a few content.

SFV was shipped as the main course and it delivered. The reason why casuals and a lot of players got angry is because they didn't get their easy mode. Now don't get angry over this commenters because it's true isn't it? Those modes are designed to make the game easier for newer players as a distraction to what the actual game is meant to be "competitive!"

One thing I will say is in recent years pro players have made alot of effort to teach new players the game: Viscant, Jchen, Sirlin, and Maximillion do a good job trying to teach new players the game. They just got drowned out alot by retards.
