They tend to mark stuff up and play with numbers. We know the jobs are going to be slightly higher because of holiday jobs. The numbers last year were already weak even including online sales (which are going up). This also takes into account that Amazon often sales at a loss which people don't even know.

Do you mean in regards to holiday sales being on point? I wonder what they'll be after returns.

It's also a bit disturbing how much debt people are taking out to buy these gifts compared to a decade or two ago. That's something else to look at.
