Funny oil is down to 30$ but Facebook is at 93$. Facebook stock is definitely a bubble.

Many of these tech stocks are overvalued as well as website stuff. Remember that 100 billion dollar valuation it had?

Hoepfully everyone is intelligent and makes smart investments. Whichever Americans have enough to invest. I think a very large percentage are barely getting by.

Those are choices that those people have made for themselves.
Its not a secret on how someone can better themselves.

I agree with you there. I am just baffled how people pretend how everything is out of their hands and they have no idea why they can't get ahead when they're overspending, not saving, buying stuff on credit and lottery tickets while having kids they can't afford.
Even outside of investment, more restraint would go a long way.

Even outside of investment, more restraint would go a long way. Those are things that individuals can, and should control. I try to, even though I bought a lotto ticket. But the market falling, oil prices plummeting, government overspending. That I can't fix. Corporate and government greed as well as their incompetence has led to this. My job now is to see how I can profit from it. As best I can anyways.

My job now is to see how I can profit from it. As best I can anyways. Buying a ticket for fun would be one thing but I'm sure you're not seriously thinking you have a good chance of winning and planning your future on it. That's what I mean. No individual (except for some in power) is to blame for the current situation but they do vote for our leaders who allow these things to happen. People are naturally greedy and want more for themselves but greed should be tempered with fear of loss. When the ones in charge give bailouts and make laws that pick winners and losers this is what happens in a centrally planned socialist economy. Not to mention many dumb laws and tweaking interest rates while printing money. People's standards of living decrease. No matter what happens people keep voting for it. So you have to prepare or in some cases (like mine) go to a place that has a more productive society and a freer system. It sucks for the people who wanted none of this and didn't vote for any of it either. People who vote to get something for nothing or to get some subsidy or some get rich ticket are just as greedy as anybody else. I have no problem with people being greedy as long as the market forces keep it in check.

There are way too many questions that your last post brought up. I do not have the time to get into them.

List a few questions then so I can see what you mean.

Do you think the country would be in better shape if McCain had been president for 8 years or Romney for 4 years?

Both sides are bad. I never implied this is a left or right issue. Big out of control government is big out of control government no matter what side promotes it. I never voted for either. Only a handful of these guys aren't bad.
That said Obama has driven us off of the cliff faster since he has spent more than the others presidents combined. It would have been bad under either watch, but more debt and printing digs us into a deeper hole, as well as bad policy.
Even if we had a good person in, it would take years to get everything on track. There's no "instant fix" out of this unfortunately.

You said that the people vote for the leaders that allow this to happen. There were only three choices for President over the last 8 years. My point is that the people didn't really have much of a choice. They were screwed with whomever got elected. But there is no good person in sight for this election. I guess people can hope for better in 2020. But there is no good person in sight for this election. I guess people can hope for better in 2020.

You were saying no person had a role. I wouldn't say an individual played a role (outside of some in power) but the people voting definitely do. One of the main reasons we are screwed is because we allowed everyone to vote no matter their motives or how ill informed they are. Over time people who were ill informed voted for things our government can't sustain and our politicians take advantage of that to get elected. The politicians sell the public the idea of a free lunch and security and the public buys it. That's why the politicians have gotten dramatically worse, and as things continue to get worse you will see people get more desperate. You'll see more extreme measures to fix this problem. We do have more choices but those people never get far. People who threaten to cut off the free lunch will pretty much never get elected. This is the failure of socialism. If the government never had these rights as they did in the past and/or if people who were ill informed couldn't vote we wouldn't have this issue. I doubt most people even know who is running outside of the big name front runners anyways.

You're saying we don't have a lot of choices.
I'm saying the political process eliminates the better choices because dishonest people who promise a free lunch get elected. This is because the voters are too ill informed, lazy, greedy, entitled, or dumb to understand or care why this won't work and keep voting for it.
We do have more people who are candidates (at first). People who want to cut anything on either side just don't get far compared to the ones who are promise stuff they can't deliver on without bankrupting us.
Socialist countries do this a lot. As a matter of fact look at a place like Detroit. It would be almost impossible to get responsible people in charge there as the people there are desperate and don't know any better. That or they just want something for nothing.
We can move on though.
What are your thoughts on the stock market (back on topic).
