I noticed that a lot of the complaints with the FGC actually comes down largely to Street Fighter and the fans and fanboys there. I have gone to many sites for fighting games including Guilty Gear, Blazblue, Virtua Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Skullgirls, and Tekken. I notice these places have people who are more intelligent and articulate and also far more helpful.
Street Fighter and to a lesser extent Smash (although it has improved) has a lot of fanboying and people bickering with each other endlessly while being pseudo elitist.
Any idea why?

Some communities seem to have an "idiot pull" in that they attract larges swathes of very stupid people. I get the same problem with: Anime, Versus and certain games.

Well you'll have your idiots for sure. Comics have their stupid fanboys too like Wolverine. I think SF has this thing about it being "the original" or whatever. People feel that liking SF makes them "special" or "elite". It's also very popular and a top contender. It reminds me of Nintendo fanboys who think playing a Nintendo makes them special somehow. The SF community just bashes each other and looks down on other games while saying SF is the best because "everyone plays it".

Wolverine tends to come up in versus as opposed to just regular comic discussions in my experiences. Comic fanboys tend to be bad in movie discussions, try discussing Man Of Steel and Marvel fanboys will have a field day. Which is why I listed versus, Anime is toxic all around and I just stay away. Right up their with furries lol.
Street Fighter is just the bottom of the barrel. Right there with console fanboys
Sonic, Anime and, Consoles are the worst imo.

Well certain anime like DBZ tend to be a problem more than just all anime. Anime is just too large of a genre to lump it all IMO. Just like Comics. Fighting game players who play certain games don't have these traits. I think it's just that DBZ, Wolverine, and SF are really popular and cater to the least common denominator much like consoles do. I don't think it's any different with something like movies where some people will cling to something like Transformers or Fast and The Furious and defend it to the death.

Well, we can't include entire mediums but segments since I assume we are: Anime like gaming is very diverse. But, there are certain segments that are more active than others. Obviously not all anime are going to be included, but those crappy shonen shows and the creepy ecchi shows tend to be very popular and produce really annoying fans.
It's the same with games, they're really diverse too but just like anime the mainstream segments tend to be really dumb because they appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Shonen is also aimed at younger kids so that's probably why they tend to be so bad. Just like people are fanatics for "badass" characters like Wolverine and Raphael from TMNT. People want their character to be the best and have all of the focus. Ecchi shows have their fans but they just seem to sit back and enjoy it more than bicker with each other from what I see. I think this is the problem with SF. The fighting game genre is very niche so you already have a lot of diehards. Put them into a game like SF and that's what you get - a bunch of dumb fans.

The moe and harem fans tend to be ultra defensive. Then again, it depends on the show. You have more laid back fans for shounen as well like: Yuyu Hakusho fans, Hunter X Hunter Fans and Bleach fans. Then you have the rabid retards like Naruto fans and the worst One Piece fans. So, it depends on the show.
The right show attracts the right kind of moron lol.

I think that is because people attack those shows for being "perverted" and "weird". So people are quick to defend themselves. YYH has a great community. DBZ is YYH for the dumb, lol.

The fans tend be creepy and autistic, though. I had alot of bad experiences with those morons. Then again, depends on the show. Tenchi has good fans, but something like Haruhi at the time was annoying.
YYH is great, Bleach is surprisingly smart as well despite the show being okay.

Perhaps Bleach fans are older.

Speaking of gamers and toxicity. Check this out, This is a PSA from the gamers club in my college "Even though I know most of you guys are smelling fresh, I still gotta put out this PSA. PLEASE WEAR DEODORANT BEFORE COMING TO THE MEETING! Even rooms as big as 1070 tend to get hot when you put 100+ people in them and nobody likes smelling sweaty gamer musk. It only takes a couple people before the room starts like a gym locker room. So for your sake and the sake of others please stay on top your hygiene. Keep on keeping this club awesome guys." www.facebook.com/groups/m.u.g.gamers/?ref=suggested_groupsLol

Old gamers I hung out with almost never showered. They used to just eat and play games for days. Their mom would have to tell them to do it lol. The stereotypes are true!

If you want to really see a toxic community just check out the call of duty and moba communities. Mobas imo are the most toxic of the gaming communities.

With such a low barrier to entry I wouldn't be surprised. Especially due to sheer numbers. FGC and particularly SF fans have this "special" feeling about themselves that makes them think they're somehow unique just for playing the game all while worshiping the popularity of it. Baffling.

You can see this with the SF community now in uproar about the lack of content. The SF fanboys who would be bashing any other franchise for the smallest of reasons jump all over Capcom and defend it no matter what. This behavior is hypocritical and annoying. I understand the game is meant to be competitive but people are raising good points by saying the game is lacking.

The game is lacking. The story mode is basically a prologue and you to wait till June to play it. I play other games. So, It's not a bother and I payed half price for it.

Have you read the fanboy justifications? No versus CPU or arcade either. More bungling. This is bad. www.eventhubs.com/news/2016/feb/14/amazon-pre-orders-street-fighter-5-may-be-delayed/If you ordered your copy of Street Fighter 5 on Amazon, you may want to check your email. We've been seeing multiple reports of Amazon users, Prime and non, receiving emails stating that their copies of SF5 will not make it to their doorsteps on February 16th.
Players have reported such messages for both the standard SF5 copy as well as the Collector's Edition. You'll see an example of one of these messages below:We're hesitant to panic just yet, as there are also reports of users contacting Amazon's customer service, and being assured a prompt delivery on Feb. 16th despite receiving a delay notification.
At this point we're not sure exactly how many Amazon pre-orders, if any, this will actually affect. We've reached out to Amazon for comment, but they were unable to give us any information.

I haven't, no arcade lol. I need to stop giving Capcom my money, it seems they won't shape up. Some people compared this to Killer Instinct, but Killer Instinct was a free to play game and was what 30 dollars? Street fighter 5 is a full retail game. Capcom can't do anything, right.

Yep. It was $20 and it still had a free version. Capcom wants $60 for a game that is dropping frames and has late shipments, plus it doesn't even work with certain controllers.

This is why I pay more attention to Killer Instinct, MK and other fighters. That's why I've never been into fanboyism. I play products because they're good not because of some diehard fanaticism. The SF fanboys are just defending this to the death with all kinds of justifications.

I'll give a review when I get it. I understand they want to have it available for competitive players but the frame dropping is really inexcusable.
