Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is Announced for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One
Bandai Namco has announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
To commemorate this moment, they’ve uploaded an announcement trailer for the game, showcasing some brief glimpses into what the game will end up looking like.
The upcoming sequel takes what worked in the original release and adds to it better visuals, as well as what they promise as the “largest and most detailed Dragon Ball world ever developed.” There will be more character tweaks than ever before, lots of new features, and a new hub city.
“The Dragon Ball franchise is a crown jewel and a perennial fan-favorite of Bandai Namco Entertainment’s robust anime video game portfolio and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will build upon that illustrious legacy.” said Bandai Namco Entertainment America vice president of marketing Eric Hartness in a press release.
“With Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, we’re working diligently with the Dimps team to pull out all the stops and push the Dragon Ball video game experience to new heights.”
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is slated for a 2016 release date across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. New details will be coming at this year’s E3.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Producer On Adding Content From Dragon Ball Super
Siliconera spoke to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 producer Masayuki Hirano of Bandai Namco at E3 2016, who shared on the possibility of adding content from Dragon Ball Super into their upcoming title.
Hirano-san, I know you probably can’t say too much, but is there any content from Dragon Ball Super in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2?
“[Laughs] Since Dragon Ball Super is still playing we are hoping to add those characters and features into the game,” said Hirano. “As you can imagine, it takes a long time to create a character. It may be before the game is released, it may be after. To be candid, we’re just starting to look into it.
Hirano added, “I would like to point out that we are planning to support the game with free updates and maybe paid DLC after the release. We hope people will look forward to that as well.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Will Let You Join Frieza’s Army And Rule The Universe
Bandai Namco shared the latest on Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 in this week’s issue of Jump magazine with details on the protagonist, the return of Cooler, and more.
After the Demigra incident from the previous game, the Time Patrol expanded their organization, which even included the participation of Old Kai and Supreme Kai of Time. The protagonist of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a new member of the Time Patrol, who will face various missions in order to prevent changes in history.
This time, we’ll get to jump back in time and “infiltrate.” For example, you can join Frieza’s Army and aim to become the “Cosmic Emperor.” The history changes that we’ll see in the game will be better and more chaotic than before. We’ll also get to see Frieza tag team with his brother Cooler.

How Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Will Fix Fighting System Issues From The Previous Game
Siliconera recently spoke to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 producer Masayuki Hirano who talked about the possibility of adding Dragon Ball Super content. During our talk with the producer, he shared more on some of the fighting system changes we’ll see in the sequel, on using user feedback, character creator upgrades, and exploring the bigger hub world.
How is the fighting system being changed from Dragon Ball Xenoverse to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2?
Masayuki Hirano, Producer: Based on user feedback, we got responses from fans who said they were playing online and the opponent does long range attacks and then keeps running to try to win with a time out. In order to prevent that with Xenoverse 2 we are adding a new system called the Reverse Dash, which you can use to automatically pursue an opponent. If you’re pursuing the enemy and they suddenly do a ki blast to you, you won’t be able to avoid it. During this dash if you put in a special command after you dash towards the opponent you will be able to change the direction you’re flying to get behind them. You will be able to dodge and prepare for a counterattack at the same time.
We heard feedback from fans that it was difficult to do combos. Not because the combo branch was limited, but because opponents could easily dodge their attack by doing quick teleportation. There is a new system called the Stamina Break where you can take the opponent’s stamina. If you’re doing a combo they won’t be able to avoid your attack that easily. With this new system, there is more depth to the battle system.
It’s interesting that you talked about listening to user feedback. Bandai Namco has competitive fighting games like Tekken and flashy, but technically light fighting games too. How do you know which fans to listen to?
We are looking forward to listening to fans and their feedback in terms of adjustments and what they are looking for. We will continue to do that for this game too.
It may be a little difficult, but we want to listen to both. In terms of Dragon Ball Xenoverse, we wanted to make it easy for everyone to join in and fight, but keep the combat system deep. This way people that are hardcore fighting game fans will be able to enjoy the game as well.
We are listening to more of the core gaming fan feedback from Xenoverse 1 in order to increase the quality of battles in Xenoverse 2.
How are you going to enhance the character creator for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2?
We have more parts, costumes, and attacks. We’re planning to make all of those. We are also planning new features when you are creating your avatar, but we can’t go into details about that now.
We don’t have plans to increase the number of races from Dragon Ball Xenoverse. There will be five, but we are going into each race and expanding the experience with each one.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has a bigger hub world, Conton City, which can hold over 300 people. What will players be able to explore here?
You probably have seen this earlier, but you can fly around Conton City. We also have side quests where you can go to different areas like Frieza’s Spaceship or Planet Namek. There is a teleportation system in Conton City which lets players visit these other areas and see more of the Dragon Ball world. Players will be able to talk to characters in these areas too. This is a new feature we hope fans will enjoy.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Producer Discusses Player Requests For Classic Characters
When Siliconera previously spoke with Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 producer Masayuki Hirano at E3, he noted there was a possibility of Dragon Ball Super content being added to the game. In a recent Gamescom interview by Crunchyroll, Hirano provides an update on the inclusion of Super characters and discusses why classic Dragon Ball characters are a challenge to add.
“I really like the classic series, but you have to understand that it is difficult to implement these characters in the game. For example, Goku can’t even fly. So we’d have to build a new system to put these characters into the game and make it a fair fight with the other characters,” Hirano explains.
However, even with the challenges, Hirano says they will be reaching out to fans regarding additions to the roster. “We want to consider it depending on how many requests we receive. We are actually creating a website where players will be able to share their feedback and thoughts about the game.”
The development team has already been listening to core player feedback to improve the fighting system in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. The complete interview can be seen in the video below.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 videos & info part 1
English Subtitles
No Subtitles (plus extra scenes at beginning)
The video starts out with rules of a Time Patroller and what they can do, and we also get a fair warning about changing events in the past, so we don’t end up causing trouble like Trunks has in the past. The video then shows us various parts of the game, including memorable scenes and new parts made just for the game and plenty of action.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Expert Missions
Exper Missions challenge players and other Time Patrollers to fight cooperatively against powerful enemies. In the first video, we learn how to fight the Great Ape Nappa.
In Depths of Despair, up to six players will face off against Vegeta in his Great Ape form. He’ll battle while throwing large chunks of the arena at players, and also has some “outrageously strong” combo attacks alongside his Laser Mouth attack. He can even brainwash your allies and make them turn against you. When you yourself are the one being brainwashed, you’ll face against yourself in the depths of your mind.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2’s Character Creator Is Comprehensive After what’s basically an animated infomercial for the Time Patrollers, starring Trunks and the Supreme Kai of Time, character creation in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 begins. You start by picking a species. You can go with a Frieza race individual, Earthling, Majin, Namekian, or Saiyan. For the three races with genders, being a male or female will offer different positive and negative traits. Since it’s easier to go over this in list form, here’s what you can expect from each character build. Earthling: All Earthlings have balanced stats, automatically regenerating Ki, and an attack that rises when maxed. Their Strike Super Attacks are stronger than females, but females have stronger Ki Blast Super Attacks. Frieza race: These characters move quickly and has stamina that regenerates as you attack. Their health is low, though, and they get slower the weaker they get. Majin: Majins Have high defense, which gets higher when they have max stamina. However, they have a slow stamina recovery. Males have higher health and defense, while females’ breaks are shorter and they have less health. Namekian: Namekians have stamina that refills quickly, high health that regenerates when it gets low, and is better at using items, but they have low attack stats. Saiyan: Saiyans have a high attack, which rises when their health gets low, but low health. All of their stats rise after they fall and are revived. Males’ melee attacks are stronger and buffs last longer, but have weaker Super Moves. Females have better Ki and Stamina recovery, and can use Z Assists more often, but have lower health than males. Each Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 race and gender has its own pros and cons, so personal playstyle will be most important when it comes to making a character. After picking a race and gender, you’re plopped into the most time consuming part of character creation – picking out the fine details. Depending on the type of character you’re making, different options will be available. Like a Majin will have heads/hairs, eyes, pupils, mouths/jaws, and ears as customization options, while every other character will also let you pick out a nose. Likewise, pupils and makeup are conditional customization options, dependent on the sorts of eye and mouth/jaw options you’ve chosen. This doesn’t mean each character type has the same sorts of options available to all of them. It all depends on race. Earthlings and Saiyans have mostly identical customization options. Males of each species have the same 26 hairstyles, while females have the same 35 hairdos. This also goes for eye, pupil, nose, mouth/jaw, and ear options. Earthling and Saiyan women have 18 kinds of eyes, 8 noses, 15 mouth/jaw options, and 4 different ears. Earthling and Saiyan men have 20 types of eyes, 14 noses, 20 mouths and jaws, and 4 ears. It’s also important to note that incidentals like scars or facial hair will show up under the eye and mouth/jaw categories. The Majin males and females, Namekians, and members of the Frieza race are a little more unique. Their facial features aren’t exactly ones you would, or even could, see on an Earthling or Saiyan, after all. Majin females have 33 types of “hair,” 16 types of eyes, 16 mouth/jaw options, and 7 ears, while Majin males have 27 kinds of “hair,” 17 eyes, 22 mouth/jaw options, and 9 ears. Their pupil options tend to be far more limited, sometimes even nonexistent, due to their race. Namekians have 23 hair/antennae options, 11 eyes, 14 noses, 28 mouth/jaw options, and 4 ears. Finally, Frieza folks get 15 kinds of eyes, 15 noses, 15 mouth/jaw options, and 7 ears. Put simply, there are plenty of options to mix and match to create a hopefully unique character. Especially since you can alter the color options as well. For each character, you can adjust the skin tone and eye color, as well as the upper body, lower body, hand, and feet clothing and accessories. Depending on the race and facial features, you may be able to alter their hair and makeup colors. Some races even have multiple skin tones, with Namekians having three options and Frieza races having four. While it isn’t possible to adjust color sliders to go with unique colors for characters, there are 112 colors to choose from in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 palette. After the arduous and time consuming face and color choices, the last few decisions are rather easy. You pick a voice and name, then a fighting style. The three options are “I like it up close, nice and personal,” “I’ll hang back and blast’em from afar,” and “Close or far, I keep it balanced.” I went with the ranged moveset, which meant I began with Consecutive Energy Blast, Energy Charge, and Energy Shot Super Attacks, a Super Back Jump Evasive Skill, and a Full Power Energy Blast Volley Ultimate Attack.
