Mum's the word on Injustice 2 ever since August, but NetherRealm Studios say plenty is coming next year Injustice 2 was revealed back in June, and at first, we saw a steady stream or new videos and characters for the game, but ever since the Suicide Squad-themed trailer featuring Harley Quinn and Deadshot debuted in mid-August, we've seen absolutely nothing from the game. This is extra strange considering huge events like New York Comic-Con and PlayStation Expo have come and gone, yet there's been no word at all about Injustice 2. Continue below for some thoughts on what might lie behind this information drought, as well as a brief comment from NetherRealm Studios' Tyler Lansdown. One of the most brought up reasons that could potentially be behind this lack of footage is the video game voice actor's strike currently going on, where one of the companies listed was WB Games, the publishers of Injustice 2. www.digitalspy.com/gaming/news/a811847/video-game-voice-actor-union-strike/It would obviously be difficult to show off new characters without their voice lines recorded, and would make for a very bland trailer, so it could be the case that NetherRealm have a bunch of characters fully programmed that they're dying to show us, but no voice lines to go with them. To get to the bottom of what's going on, we reached out to Tyler Lansdown at NetherRealm Studios, and while he obviously couldn't get into any specifics, he gave us assurance for 2017 by writing "plenty coming in the new year". While it's good to hear that we have things coming, it feels like NetherRealm will have to pull off a few spectacular reveals at the same time early during the year after such a long absence of information, even more so now that Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite has been officially announced and has a hype train rolling at full speed. Injustice 2 is still officially set to be released at an undetermined point in 2017, so it might be time to switch their own hype train into high gear before fans lose interest. Source: eventhubs

Character breakdown of Supergirl in Injustice 2 suggests she will be a powerful zoning character... frustrating times ahead for online players? IGN released a video breakdown of Supergirl's moveset and capabilities in the upcoming Injustice 2 game. We learn quite a bit about her capabilities from this video breakdown. IGN themselves have claimed that Supergirl is a "well-rounded Jill of all trades" but there appears to be a greater emphasis of her zoning and anti-zoning tools. Superman from the first Injustice game was well-rounded too, and although he had good zoning tools he was most notably a rushdown character. It is noted that Supergirl's speed and mobility help differentiate her from Superman's brawler style. Despite this, it certainly looks as though Supergirl will have plenty of combos to work with. She has a number of special moves that do a good job of extending her combos. www.eventhubs.com/images/2016/dec/23/supergirl-combos-01/www.eventhubs.com/images/2016/dec/23/supergirl-combos-02/www.eventhubs.com/images/2016/dec/23/supergirl-combos-03/But of course, it does appear to me that her main emphasis will be her zoning and anti-zoning tools. Being able to fire lasers in multiple directions will make it difficult to get in on Supergirl. www.eventhubs.com/images/2016/dec/23/supergirl-zoning/If the opponent attempts to zone Supergirl back, she has a teleport attack that can instantly counter that too. Versatile zoning characters in Netherrealm games have had a history of frustrating many online players in the past. This is usually to the point of complaining from said online players. Often these type of characters get nerfed early on as a result of the complaints. We'll have to see if Supergirl is that frustrating to fight against and if Netherrealm end up nerfing her gameplan in the long run. Still, it is usually characters with many 50/50 options that ended up being top tier in Mortal Kombat 9, Injustice, and Mortal Kombat X. She may be a character without too many of these to balance her out (not too many were shown during the breakdown). Source: eventhubs

Supergirl and Wonder Woman received facelifts in Injustice 2; Vesper Arcade takes a closer look at updated appearances It's been relatively quiet for some time on the Injustice 2 front, but a recent video from IGN detailing the gameplay approach for Supergirl has broken the silence. In addition to hearing how the young superheroine will play, we also saw that NetherRealm Studios have been adjusting facial appearances for at least some of the game's characters since the initial reveals a few months back. Vesper Arcade has taken a closer look at these alterations in his latest video, which you can view after the jump. We took some screen shots from the older build and from the new IGN video to show the change to both Supergirl and Wonder Woman: Source: eventhubs

Ed Boon Reveals Injustice 2’s Release Date
After receiving a large amount of radio silence on the forthcoming sequel to Netherrealm Stuido’s DC fighting game Injustice 2, save for a quick gameplay breakdown video of Supergirl on IGN First, Ed Boon has officially revealed the title’s release date on his Twitter account, Pinning a tweet that simply says “i2.05.16.17,” indicating that every battle will begin to define us on May 16th, 2017!
You can see the announcement Tweet embedded below, along with Boon answering questions relating to the date, below:
We haven’t seen a character reveal since the Suicide Squad’s Harley Quinn and New Challenger Deadshot were announced back in August at Gamecom 2016. With the game now coming out in a little over four months, the character reveals and announcements are sure to pick up speed in the new year. In the meantime, Boon has taken to running polls on Twitter, ranging from everything from the inclusion of Watchmen characters, to which Mortal Kombat character fans would like to see make a guest appearance, like Scorpion did in Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Darkseid supposedly leaked as Injustice 2's pre-order bonus character, similar to Goro for Mortal Kombat X Over Twitter, Maximilian pointed out that Darkseid will be the pre-order bonus character of Injustice 2 similar to the role Goro played for Mortal Kombat X. For those that don't recall, the way it worked was that a code was given to players that pre-ordered the game that unlocked Goro for free at launch. For those that did not, they would have to pay an additional fee in order to unlock Goro. In Injustice 1, we only saw Darkseid as part of a stage transition and at the end of certain individual character story modes. It's worth noting that even though Goro was available at launch, Goro was not apart of the game's main story mode. Hopefully Darkseid will have an impact on the story mode, unlike what Goro was to Mortal Kombat X's story. Source: eventhubs

Injustice 2 Twitter Teasing Announcement on January 17: ‘The Lines are Redrawn’ It’s been awhile since the well of Injustice 2 news ran dry. The last substantial content we got was back in August with the announcement of Harley Quinn and Deadshot. But it seems like NetherRealm Studios and Warner are ready to open the floodgates. The official twitter for Injustice 2 sent out a post yesterday saying that more news will drop on January 17. You can see the tweet below as it contains a gif of Superman cradling what looks to be a dead (or unconscious) Supergirl. Possibly even Lois Lane. The tagline reads ‘The Lines are Redrawn’ hinting that the reveal will be some sort of story mode trailer. Further confirming this theory was a tweet from the US PlayStation account with yet another gif. This time it’s definitely Supergirl and she does a ‘superhero landing’ amongst of the ruins of a city. The tagline this time is ‘A new threat approaches…’ Source: dualshockers

New Injustice 2 Story Trailer Revealed It’s really exciting for us at NetherRealm to share our first teaser of the Injustice 2 story with everyone. The studio’s been working incredibly hard to make it a worthy sequel. Go ahead. Take a peek! Injustice 2 picks up where Injustice: Gods Among Us left off. Though Batman has won the battle with Superman, he’s still facing threats on all sides. Former members of Superman’s regime continue to elude justice. And a shadowy new group, The Society, threatens chaos across the globe. With many of his allies either victims of, or collaborators with, Superman’s failed regime, Batman faces this dangerous world short of help. That’s why he’s brought together a new squad of Super Heroes. When Earth is invaded and threatened with destruction, Batman and his new team are thrust into action! Crafting Injustice 2’s story has been exciting and challenging. The first game’s story and the great tie-in comic book series gave us a wealth of ideas on how to continue the stories of the first game’s characters like the Flash and Harley Quinn. They also gave us a solid foundation for adapting the canonical histories of the game’s new faces, like Supergirl and Blue Beetle, so that their stories fit within the Injustice universe. The biggest challenge? Extending the Injustice narrative, without repeating ourselves. We knew that the game’s core conflict — Batman versus Superman — had to remain front and center. But to keep Injustice moving forward, we needed more. Enter Brainiac. There are few in the DC universe that could top “Dictator Superman” as a foe for Batman. The challenges don’t come much bigger than a determined Man of Steel. But in Brainiac, Batman faces a challenge like none he’s faced before. Brainiac possesses superior intelligence, impossibly advanced technology, and inexhaustible resources. The overwhelming threat he poses to Earth forces Batman to question everything he knows. It also makes him consider crossing lines he’d vowed to never cross… What will Batman do? And just how does Superman respond to this crisis? To find that out, you’ll have to play the game! Robin and Brainiac confirmed playable in Injustice 2, new in-game screenshots show both in action The Injustice 2 story mode trailer was released earlier this morning, and arrived jam-packed with familiar DC Comics faces. Though we saw the likes of Robin, Bane, Poison Ivy, and Brainiac featured in the cinematic trailer, two of them have actually been confirmed as playable this morning by way of in-game screenshots. As you can see in the images below, Brainiac is in the middle of what appears to be his fight intro and Robin is taking on Blue Beetle. We haven't seen screenshots of Poison Ivy or Bane just yet, so although it is likely that they are also playable in Injustice 2, we can't say for certain at this point in time. Source: eventhubs

Nine DLC characters headed to Injustice 2 - pricing information confirms Green Lantern playable, shows three alternate costumes and more Injustice 2 is the talk of the town today as Warner Bros. and NetheRealm Studios have given fans a lot of new information about the game to take in. On May 16th, players will be able to choose between three different purchase options for Injustice 2: Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Ultimate Edition. Standard is simply a copy of the game and will run for $59.99 USD, but the other two packages include some pretty excellent extras. Purchasing the Deluxe Edition gives you access to three DLC fighters as they become available, one premier skin that transforms Supergirl into Powergirl, and one exclusive gear shader pack to alter the look of your roster. This will run you $79.99 USD. The Ultimate Edition is definitely going to turn some heads, though. This special package costs $99.99 USD and comes with three premier skins -- Powergirl (Supergirl), Reverse Flash (Flash), and John Stewart (Green Lantern) -- two gear shader packs, and access to a whopping nine DLC characters as they are released. What's interesting is that today's pricing information casually confirms that Green Lantern is a playable character in Injustice 2. Source: eventhubs

Pre-Ordering Injustice 2 from Gamestop Gets You Darkseid & a Bonus Poster Injustice 2 is now available for pre-order, and with that, we can expect the pre-order bonuses to roll in. And if you are looking to capture the entire cast as they are rolled out, pre-ordering most definitely puts you on the right track. Pre-ordering the game via GameStop already nets you a nifty Injustice 2 poster exclusive to the retailer. However, one of the biggest reasons to score the pre-order is that should you do so, you will receive Darkseid–one of the DLC characters–for free with your purchase. For only $59.99, you will also be guaranteed to have the game the day of release. www.gamestop.com/ps4/games/injustice-2/130943Source: shoryuken

New Injustice 2 character gameplay to be revealed via live stream on Tuesday, Jan 24th Big news on the Injustice 2 front today as we were told that Robin and Braniac would be joining the playable roster. In addition, NetherRealm revealed that 9 DLC characters will be available for purchase and capped things off by officially showing us Darkseid. The customization-heavy game is looking beautiful, and you've likely seen the reveal video we posted earlier today. Since then however, that same video with a new message has popped up on the InjusticeGame YouTube page. This video is widely the same, but includes a message about a new reveal next week. You'll see said message in the screen shot below: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Flash shown for Injustice 2 on official web page, with brief bio about his motivations in the game's story Although he'd already been shown briefly in the cinematic reveal trailer for the game, we have yet to see any sign of The Flash since then - until now. Today, the official site for Injustice 2 updated a character section which included The Flash, confirming that it is Barry Allen we'll see and what his motivations in the game are, as well as a look at his in-game appearance. Also worth noting is that the site has 31 slots all-together for characters with only 11 of them currently filled, though none of yesterday's reveals have been added yet. Source: eventhubs

The Injustice 2 Beta Is Now Open for Registration The news just keeps on coming for Injustice 2 fans. Following the announcement of the game’s release date, a new cinematic trailer revealing several new characters, and the arrival of Darkseid as a pre-order bonus, Ed Boon’s latest Twitter hint–which is decidedly less cryptic than his usual teasers–implied earlier today that we’d be seeing a Beta test for Injustice 2 sometime in the near future. You can view the tweet below, where Boon displays a picture of characters in the Greek alphabet, noting, “Don’t know why, but I can’t help feeling like something’s missing today….” Upon examination, the character absent from the photo is, of course, “beta.” The mystery didn’t last long, as an Injustice 2 beta has now been officially announced: If you want in on the test, head over the the beta site and register! beta.injustice.com/Back before the launch of the Mortal Kombat XL update, along with NRS’s new rollback-based netcode (which this title will be sporting from day 1), they held an “Enhanced Online Beta,” allowing players to try out the new netcode for themselves–as well as some of the character balance changes–before it was all released to the public. Injustice: Gods Among Us also received a demo version back in 2013, but its features were strictly offline. Source: shoryuken

Injustice 2 comic book series announced to have a digital release of April 11th; physical print coming in May It has been announced that the Injustice 2 comic book series will begin on April 11th. Like the comic book series for Injustice and Mortal Kombat X, this comic book series will tell the story leading up to the story found in the Injustice 2 game. In other words, it's a prequel to Injustice 2 but follows the events of the first Injustice game. The artist behind the original Injustice comics, Bruno Redondo, will be returning to work on the Injustice 2 comics. Bear in mind that this April release date is only for the digital version of the comics. The twice a month print of physical copies won't start until May. Source: eventhubs
