Do you get much use out of your Wii now? When I have time, I go through long intervals of not playing and then pop up and play again. Usually when I'm off of school. I prefer a much slower pace anyway.

Nintendo Switch: In-Depth Look at Upcoming Games Coming Tomorrow Nintendo of America announced that following the Nintendo Switch presentation from Tokyo Tomorrow, there will be a second Nintendo Treehouse livestream giving a “deeper look” at the games. At the moment we don’t have any firm clues about which games will be introduced during the livestream, which will air at 9:30 AM Eastern Time, but it’s very likely that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will have a prominent presence. Maybe we’ll get to see the Switch version of Dragon Quest XI, since plans to release the game on the console have been confirmed. www.dualshockers.com/2016/12/19/dragon-quest-xi-world-size-release-target-nintendo-switch-plans-confirmed/Source: dualshockers

Nintendo Switch 2017 presentation live stream
Nintendo Switch to be released on March 3rd worldwide, price tag of $299.99
During the Nintendo Switch live presentation, the company revealed the consoles release date and price.
The upcoming hardware will become available worldwide on March 3rd, 2017. In North America, the console will cost $299.99 at launch.
Nintendo shared a few details about the console's online services. It was noted that online will become a paid service in the Fall of 2017, which seems to imply that it will be free until then.
Players can look forward to setting up online matches with smart mobile devices, and the Nintendo Switch's software will not be region locked.
The stream also showed off the Joy Con controllers. These are small peripherals (broken up into left and right pieces) that can function as their own individual controller. The Joy Con can handle several tasks for the player, including the ability to scan Amiibo, capture screenshots, and more. These will come in different colors -- at launch we'll have neon red and neon blue -- has a wrist strap add-on, and the right Joy Con even has a built in camera that can read hand movements such as Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Nintendo Details the Nintendo Switch, Boasts Heavy Third Party Support Following the announcement of the Nintendo Switch, formerly known as NX, the console manufacturer from Kyoto provided more details on the console, boasting a large group of third party developers and publishers planning to support the console. Nintendo provided the first glimpse of its new home gaming system and revealed that it is called Nintendo Switch. In addition to providing single and multiplayer thrills at home, the Nintendo Switch system also enables gamers to play the same title wherever, whenever and with whomever they choose. The mobility of a handheld is now added to the power of a home gaming system to enable unprecedented new video game play styles. At home, Nintendo Switch rests in the Nintendo Switch Dock that connects the system to the TV and lets you play with family and friends in the comfort of your living room. By simply lifting Nintendo Switch from the dock, the system will instantly transition to portable mode, and the same great gaming experience that was being enjoyed at home now travels with you. The portability of Nintendo Switch is enhanced by its bright high-definition display. It brings the full home gaming system experience with you to the park, on an airplane, in a car, or to a friend’s apartment. Gaming springs into action by removing detachable Joy-Con controllers from either side of Nintendo Switch. One player can use a Joy-Con controller in each hand; two players can each take one; or multiple Joy-Con can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options. They can easily click back into place or be slipped into a Joy-Con Grip accessory, mirroring a more traditional controller. Or, if preferred, the gamer can select an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to use instead of the Joy-Con controllers. Furthermore, it is possible for numerous people to bring their Nintendo Switch systems together to enjoy local multiplayer face-to-face competition. Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime also provided a comment. “Nintendo Switch allows gamers the freedom to play however they like. It gives game developers new abilities to bring their creative visions to life by opening up the concept of gaming without boundaries.” Source: dualshockers

Nintendo Switch Confirmed Powered by Custom Tegra Processor by Nvidia
Nvidia made its own announcement, mentioning that the console will be powered by a custom Tegra chip including “an NVIDIA GPU based on the same architecture as the world’s top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards.”
You can read the full announcement below.
“The first thing to know about the new Nintendo Switch home gaming system: it’s really fun to play. With great graphics, loads of game titles and incredible performance, the Nintendo Switch will provide people with many hours of engaging and interactive gaming entertainment.
But creating a device so fun required some serious engineering. The development encompassed 500 man-years of effort across every facet of creating a new gaming platform: algorithms, computer architecture, system design, system software, APIs, game engines and peripherals. They all had to be rethought and redesigned for Nintendo to deliver the best experience for gamers, whether they’re in the living room or on the move.
A Console Architecture for the Living Room and Beyond
Nintendo Switch is powered by the performance of the custom Tegra processor. The high-efficiency scalable processor includes an NVIDIA GPU based on the same architecture as the world’s top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards.
Nintendo SwitchThe Nintendo Switch’s gaming experience is also supported by fully custom software, including a revamped physics engine, new libraries, advanced game tools and libraries. NVIDIA additionally created new gaming APIs to fully harness this performance. The newest API, NVN, was built specifically to bring lightweight, fast gaming to the masses.
Gameplay is further enhanced by hardware-accelerated video playback and custom software for audio effects and rendering.
We’ve optimized the full suite of hardware and software for gaming and mobile use cases. This includes custom operating system integration with the GPU to increase both performance and efficiency.
NVIDIA gaming technology is integrated into all aspects of the new Nintendo Switch home gaming system, which promises to deliver a great experience to gamers.”

Nintendo Switch Is First and Foremost a “Home Gaming Console” For those who were worried, the 3DS is probably not leaving us any time soon. After unveiling of the Nintendo Switch, many were left wondering about the future of the 3DS. The Switch, after all, serves as both a home console and portable device; however, while what’s next for the handheld platform is still uncertain, we can put to rest any fear that the Switch was meant to take over. Speaking with Polygon, Nintendo stated the Switch “is a home gaming system first and foremost.” “Nintendo Switch is a home gaming system first and foremost. We have made no announcement regarding the future of Nintendo 3DS. “Obviously with sales of almost 60 million 3DS portables worldwide, there’s still a huge hunger for new games, such as Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. There are many more games in the pipeline.” Not that anyone should have been too worried. Nintendo dominates the handheld market. As for the Wii U, well, it might soon become a lot harder to find at retail. As it preps for the launch of the Switch, the company plans to ship 800,000 Wii U units to the global market for this fiscal year. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nintendo Switch Will Not Play Physical Copies of Wii U or 3DS Games; Digital Backward Compatibility Still Unclear The Nintendo Switch uses 3DS-like cartridges the company has termed “game cards,” so while it was almost obvious from the get-go, we now have a confirmation that the new console will not play Wii U discs, nor is the platform suited for physical 3DS games, according to Famitsu (and translated by Perfectly Nintendo). What’s interesting, however, is how the company specifies physical game copies, meaning it’s unclear whether digital Wii U and 3DS content will be playable on the Switch. Nintendo isn’t ready to reveal further details just yet, but seeing as how the Switch is slated for a worldwide March 2017 release, that information has to be coming soon. The company did provide Famitsu with minor details on the Switch’s battery life, saying users can play “comfortably” as much as possible without access to a power outlet. Additionally, the Dock and both left and right Joy-Con controllers will ship in the box. No word on the Grip, though, which places the left and right Joy-Cons closer together to form a more traditional controller. Nintendo declined to comment yet on whether its mobile titles will be playable on the Switch; however, it did confirm the use of the Tegra processor yesterday, which is optimized for mobile devices. www.nvidia.com/object/tegra-phones-tablets.html--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Epic Games Confirms Unreal Engine 4 Support on Nintendo Switch Nintendo finally lifted the curtain on the company’s long-awaited new console with the Nintendo Switch, with one publisher confirming that its widely-used engine will be available to developers on the new platform. Following an official confirmation of developers and publishers pledging to support the Nintendo Switch, Epic Games (who was previously confirmed as supporting the device) revealed that the company is “thrilled to partner with Nintendo to help Unreal Engine 4 developers bring their games” to the console. With the console already planning to be supported by numerous developers and studios, with more being confirmed since the console’s formal announcement. Source: dualshockers

The Heart of Nintendo Switch Is in its Handheld Unit
While Nintendo stated that its new console is first and foremost a home gaming console, the real heart of the Switch’s tech lies within its portable unit; the Dock mostly serves as a charging station with USB ports — which likely will mostly be used to charge stuff.
In a statement to IGN, Nintendo said the purpose of the Dock was to make it “extremely easy to seamlessly switch from playing games on a TV to transition into a portable mode.”
“The dock is not the main console unit of Nintendo Switch. The main unit of Nintendo Switch is the unit that has the LCD screen, which the two Joy-Con controllers can be attached to and detached from. The main function of the Nintendo Switch Dock is to provide an output to the TV, as well as charging and providing power to the system.”

Take-Two “Happy” About Collaboration on Nintendo Switch Reveal; Not Confirming Specific Games for Now
During Take-Two Interactive’s financial conference call related to the quarter ended on September 30th, President Karl Slatoff talked briefly about the Nintendo Switch, mentioning that the publisher is “happy” to have collaborated with the house of Mario and Zelda for the reveal.
While they confirmed their partnership, Take-Two won’t announce any specific title for now, but will reveal them at a later date.
“We’re happy that Take-two had the opportunity to collaborate with Nintendo on their first look video on Nintendo Switch which was revealed last month and will launch in March 2017.
While we’re not confirming any specific titles this time, we’re pleased to announce our partnership with Nintendo, and support of the Nintendo Switch. We look forward to revealing specific games and details at a later date.”

Ubisoft Talks Nintendo Switch: “The Platform Is Great;” Guillemot Calls it “a True Innovation”
During Ubisoft’s financial conference call related to the quarter ended on September 30th, CEO Yves Guillemot talked about the upcoming Nintendo Switch, expressing optimism on the console and defining its ability to extend home console on the go as a “true innovation.”
“The March quarter will also see the release of the Nintendo Switch. As we already said, we think the platform is great. For the first time ever, players will continue their home console experience on the go while traveling or commuting. That is a true innovation.” Guillemot also mentioned that the Switch will benefit from the demand for Nintendo games on a dedicated handheld platform, as shown by the strong sales of the 3DS.
“Second, most importantly, despite the huge competition from mobile gaming, Nintendo managed to sell more than 55 million 3DS since launch. The Switch will benefit from this strong demand for Nintendo games on a dedicated handheld platform.
If potential is reached, then Ubisoft, as the leading third party publisher on Nintendo consoles over the past ten years, will benefit disproportionately.”

EA Will Bring “One of their Bigger Games” To Nintendo Switch; Can’t Yet Predict if It’ll be Successful
During the UBS Global Technology Conference, Electronic Arts Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen gave a few hints on the publisher’s involvement with Nintendo’s upcoming console, the Switch.
Jorgensen mentioned that they’ll support it with “a game or two,” and that we should assume that it’s one of the publisher’s bigger games.
“In terms of Nintendo, in their announcement they announced that we’ll be supporting with a game or two on that new platform. We haven’t yet announced what game, but you should assume that it’s one of our bigger games we’ve been involved with.”
Jorgensen also explained that it’s too early for the publisher to predict whether the console will be successful or not.
“We’re excited for Nintendo, it’s an interesting device, but I can’t yet predict how broad it’s going to be, and will people be interested in a portable device alongside their regular portable device that they have.”
It’ll certainly be interesting to see which franchise Electronic Arts will bring to the Nintendo Switch. For the moment it’s certainly hard to say: Mass Effect? Battlefield? Titanfall? Or maybe a sport title, or maybe The Sims?

GameStop: Nintendo Switch Has “Tremendous Potential as a Game Changer;” Interest Similar to Xbox One
During GameStop’s quarterly financial conference call, the retailer’s executives talked at length about the Nintendo Switch, mentioning how the company polled its Power-up Rewards members to gauge purchase interest.
“We’re also seeing strong consumer interest for the upcoming launch of Switch from Nintendo. The Switch users physical media, and Nintendo products have historically a low digital download rate. So we expect this to be a console that drives strong sales of physical products along with the console. “ According to the survey, 27% of the Power-up Rewards members who are aware of the Nintendo Switch also plan to purchase the console. This is in line with the purchase intent for the Xbox One at the same point in time.
It was clarified later in the call that clearly not everyone that expressed purchase intent is going to actually buy the console, but it’s still a good benchmark because it can be compared cycle-over-cycle.
“I think it’s fair to say that bodes well for the launch and the success of this product, keeping in mind that we don’t even have specific details on price points on the market. I think we’re gonna be doing the survey again in mid-January, after all the details are out, and I think we’ll have a much better read on it at that time, but right now everything we’re seeing is very, very encouraging.” Later in the call, we also got more impressions on the switch, that GameStop CEO Paul Raines had a chance to test himself iduring a recent trip to Nintendo.
“The Switch is a very interesting device. […] Nintendo Switch has the potential to expand incrementally the audience. The reasons are: the IP is more compelling for family than the other types of IPs, so Mario and all those things, and movement-related games are more fun for kids, you know, taking those accessories off, what they call the wings and the master controller, you can really do a lot of interesting things with that in gameplay. And then the last thing I will say, they got a unique portability to it. […] I think it really got tremendous potential as a game changer. We’ll have to wait and see like everything else in this industry, the consumers will vote with their dollars.” Last, but not least, it was mentioned that one of the biggest declines seen in the console audience has been among those who came in because of offerings like the Nintendo Wii and Guitar Hero, and there is an opportunity for them to come back with the Switch.
GameStop’s research can distinguish between hardcore gamers and people who are “sort of broad-market family gamers,” and there is a strong interest between the broad group of consumers, so the retailer’s executives are “very optimistic about the possibilities.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EA Talks Nintendo Switch: “Never, Ever, Ever Discount Nintendo” “We’re Huge Fans”
At the Credit Suisse 2016 Annual Technology Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, Electronic Arts Chief Competition Officer Peter Moore talked about the Nintendo Switch and the recently announced partnership with Nintendo.
Moore admitted that the house of Mario and Zelda had some rough times recently, but reiterated that the power of Nintendo’s development studios and intellectual properties should never be underestimated.
He also confirmed that Electronic Arts has a “major game” coming to the Switch, and that the folks at EA are “huge fans” of the console manufacturer from Kyoto, and are going to watch with interest what happens with the new console.
“Nintendo has always been and will always be an very important partner in this industry. They have some of the best first party development studios in the world, and some of the most valuable intellectual properties in the world. We have announced publicly that we got a partnership with them on their new platform, the Switch, we haven’t talked in detail on what’s that about. You can imagine, as you heard, that a major game will be distributed on that platform.
We’re huge fans. We have a relationship that goes many decades back. They’ve had some difficult times as if recently obviously, but never, ever, ever discount Nintendo in this marketplace, and their ability to leverage their superb game development opportunities. Their intellectual properties, whether it’s Mario, whether it’s Zelda, whether it’s Metroid Prime, we could go on forever about what they can do… obviously Pokémon, we’ve seen more recently.
We’re gonna watch with interest and you can rest assured that EA, just like every major publisher, is in regular conversations with Nintendo.” Electronic Arts’ major game for Nintendo’s Switch was confirmed by Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen during the UBS Global Technology Conference a couple of weeks ago.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Take-Two Is “Very Intrigued and Excited” About the Nintendo Switch
During the 20th Annual Credit Suisse Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference in Phoenix, Arizona today, Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. President Karl Slatoff offered his opinion on the Nintendo Switch, stating that the company is “very intrigued and excited” about the Kyoto-based manufacturer’s latest hardware iteration.
When asked about what he thought in regards to the opportunities the Switch presented and whether or not the company would wait to see how it does, Slatoff replied by stating that although there’s always an element of “wait and see,” Nintendo is making a great effort to reach out to third party developers, which he thinks is “fantastic.”
He went on to state that Take-Two has already announced that they’re supporting the new console, and although they weren’t going to announce anything today, the publisher is “very optimistic” and sees Nintendo as good partners to work with into the future.

The fact sheet, that you can read in its entirety below, includes some of the data that the livestream might have left you curious about.

• On-the-Go • Lift Nintendo Switch from the dock and instantly transition to handheld mode for on-the-go gaming. By sharing Joy-Con, players can go head-to-head while away from home. You can also enjoy the same great games in tabletop mode by using the included stand to prop the system up.
• New Play Styles o Remove the detachable Joy-Con from either side of Nintendo Switch for more play styles: • One player can use a Joy-Con in each hand • Two players can each take one • Multiple Joy-Con can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options (additional Joy-Con sold separately) • Slip a set of Joy-Con into a Joy-Con grip accessory, mirroring a more traditional controller. Or, select an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. o Bring together up to 8 Nintendo Switch systems for local face-to-face multiplayer.
• Joy-Con o Includes traditional inputs of previous platforms, such as two analog sticks, A/B/X/Y buttons (or directional buttons), and two shoulder buttons. o Each Joy-Con can be used as a single controller. When playing this way, Joy-Con (L) and Joy-Con (R) have the same button layout. When a Joy-Con is held horizontally, the buttons on top can be used as L and R Buttons (they are called the SL and SR Buttons). o Capture Button: The Capture Button is located on Joy-Con (L) and is used to take gameplay screen shots. The player can then view, edit (add text of various sizes, colors and positions) and post them to popular social media networks o Motion Control: Each Joy-Con includes a gyroscope and accelerometer. o HD Rumble: Both Joy-Con include advanced HD Rumble, which can provide compatible games with subtle vibrations that are much more realistic than before. The effect is so detailed that a player could, for example, feel the sensation of individual ice cubes colliding inside a glass when shaking a Joy-Con. With HD Rumble you can experience a level of realism not possible through sights and sounds alone. o IR Motion Camera: Joy-Con (R) includes an IR Motion Camera that can detect the distance, shape and motion of nearby objects in specially designed games. For example, it can tell how far away a player’s hand is, and even if the hand is forming a rock, paper or scissors shape. o amiibo: There is an NFC reader/writer located on Joy-Con (R). (This is also included in the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.) Nintendo Switch is compatible with existing amiibo; usage is game-dependent. o Rechargeable: Joy-Con charge while attached to a docked Nintendo Switch system. They can also be charged using a Nintendo Switch charging grip accessory (sold separately). o Colors: Joy-Con are available in multiple colors at launch: gray, neon red and neon blue. o Release Button: On the back of each Joy-Con is a small button that is pressed to detach the controller from the main unit.
• Enhanced Parental Controls o The system includes various on-device parental controls, but parents can also download a smart device application that can be used to easily and conveniently monitor and set parental controls for a Nintendo Switch system.
