Street Fighter 2 has been entered into the Video Game Hall of Fame The Video Game Hall of Fame is somewhat of a new concept, being that it was only started back in 2015. As such, there aren't a lot of games in the hall of fame yet. It was only during this year that Street Fighter 2, the second traditional fighting game and sequel to the first, was added to the hall of fame. Street Fighter 2 was released in 1991. Currently this is the only fighting on the list. With that said, Mortal Kombat is currently being considered to be added to the prestigious list. If you want to see the entire list of games on the hall of fame, then hit the jump below. 2015 • Doom • Pac-Man • Pong • Super Mario Bros. • Tetris • World of Warcraft 2016 • The Legend of Zelda • The Oregon Trail • The Sims • Sonic the Hedgehog • Space Invaders 2017 • Donkey Kong • Halo: Combat Evolved • Pokémon Red and Green • Street Fighter 2: the World Warrior --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- More footage of Buddy Battle, color edit mode, and Way Of The Hado in Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers on the Nintendo Switch is Available. This version of Street Fighter 2 takes a legendary fighting game title and adds new characters and content. Today, we have some more footage of the game's new modes. First up, Nintendo sits down with Capcom to run through the new Buddy Battle mode -- that which allows two players to take on one opponent at the same time. We also get to see more of the color edit mode, as well as some interesting colors made by the Nintendo crew that reflect characters such as Yoshi, Princess Peach, and Mario himself (with his fire flower power up). Additionally, GameXplain has uploaded new gameplay footage of USF4's first-person game mode, Way Of The Hado. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Capcom considering doing more with Nintendo Switch? Support could depend on Ultra Street Fighter 2's performance Capcom will gauge their future support for the Nintendo Switch while watching Ultra Street Fighter 2's performance. In an interview with Toyokeizai (brought to our attention by Calm Mind on NeoGAF), the company's COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto shed some light on their current approach for Nintendo's latest hardware. "As for us here at Capcom, we try to offer software that meshes well with each platform, so we're doing basic research at the moment," Tsujimoto said (translated by MajinTenshinhan's). "For Switch in particular, we have Ultra Street Fighter 2 releasing in May, so we'll decide on our approach while watching how it performs." Whether this means Capcom will cease development for Switch titles if the game doesn't perform up to par, or if strong sales will simply encourage them to produce more games is uncertain right now. Ultra Street Fighter 2 takes a classic fighting title and brings it back to life for a modern audience. While many fans would love to see this same treatment for some of Capcom's older IPs, it seems that chances of this happening are fairly low. When asked if we'd be seeing more of Capcom's IPs make a return, Tsujimoto noted that although the company has interest in doing so, many problems sprout up when such a task is undertaken. One such problem is the lack of people to work on these projects. According to Tsujimoto, the lower number of people available for these jobs is a result of the rapid advancement of technology in this day and age. This makes it so more people are required for development teams, and working on current and new IPs leaves less time for revival of past series. Source: eventhubs

Vega can't reattach his claw, slight reduction in throw damage, and more - Here's what's changed in Ultra Street Fighter 2
Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers sees its official release today on the Nintendo Switch. To celebrate, Capcom has put together a quick video to detail some of the changes made in the new iteration of Street Fighter 2.
To start, the video gives us a look at the new combatants, Evil Ryu and Violent Ken. We learn that the former is more of a tank than his fellow dark Shotos, and the latter is fast, but has the second lowest health in the game.
We then learn more about specific changes, such as Vega's inability to pick up his claw after it has been knocked off. Additionally, throw damage has been slightly reduced and throw escapes have been added.

Street Fighter 4 Champion Edition headed to iOS; Poison, Dudley and Ibuki to join roster A recent post from Gamespot informs us that Capcom will be releasing a new version of Street Fighter 4 this summer... for iPhone and iPad. Street Fighter 4: Champion Edition will run on the latest devices, feature updated visuals and see three new fighters join the mobile cast: Dudley, Ibuki and Poison. At this point we have no screen shots, price tags or even a concrete release date, but we do know that it will support external controllers and gamepads. The mobile version of SF4 currently features 22 playable characters, meaning this installment will increase that to a grand total of 25. If you'd like to stay in the know, you can register here to be one of the first to be notified when the game is available. visitor.r20.constantcontact.com/manage/optin?v=00112YdK7-gri1-Wwp55G_9-29iQHsC2aXZYfR86b9x-jAz7XY8i2URrqVI6GnEpvFCY2ayPjLGLYMXwouL6TM4NBoQokESsW2LpFJOHH5nc1I%3DWhile it's surely not the same as the console version, we are curious to see how many fans of the series will be interested in playing the new mobile version. ULTRA STREET FIGHTER II: The Final Challengers Receives One Final Trailer at Launch It’s finally here! A ‘final’ update to a game that saw it’s last release back in 2003 with the Hyper version. A rebalance to a title using ‘new’ art assets that were added in to Turbo HD Remix in 2008. A fighter no one even knew existed when it was announced back in January of this year. Yes, ULTRA STREET FIGHTER II: The Final Challengers has come out exclusively for the Nintendo Switch and has brought a trailer along with it. The biggest and obvious addition to the game are two ‘new’ characters. Following the 90s trend of pixel swapped characters, Violent Ken and Evil Ryu make an appearance as the final challengers. Both appeared later in the Street Fighter franchise with Ken’s alter-ego only being available in a obscure crossover title. Fan favorite Akuma also emerges from the shadows as a selectable character: no hidden inputs or unlocking required. The trailer also highlights some of the new features of ULTRA STREET FIGHTER II. Two new modes are now available for retro lovers hoping to shake things up. First there’s a first person challenge called ‘The Way of the Hado’ where you must input Ryu’s different moves to stop wave after wave of Shadaloo soldiers. There’s also a 2 vs 1 tag mode called ‘Buddy Battle’ where you and a friend can fight any opponent at the same time! Of course, no Street Fighter game would be complete without ways to fight against other players. The title features a few options for local and (especially) online multiplayer. There are lobbies to find matches and ranked fights and replays. You can even show off your unique visual sensibilities by choosing a unique palette from the color editor for each character. And if you want to try to play the game with some Switch specific features, you can activate the option to allow touch screen super moves. ULTRA STREET FIGHTER II is available now via Nintendo’s online store and in physical copies for $39.99 USD. You can catch all the action in the launch trailer below: www.nintendo.com/games/detail/ultra-street-fighter-2-the-final-challengers-switchSource: dualshockers

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary announced Written By: Nyu Nozomi Hyuga Back in the late 70s to the 80s, all the games that involved 2 characters fighting with each other was games like Heavyweight Champ (1976), Warrior (1979), Punch-Out!! (1983), Champion Boxing (1984), Karate Champ (1984), The Way of the Exploding Fist (1985), & International Karate (1985) all these games had one fight style with hits as points, and getting up before the referee count to 10 something you'd be doing if you were in these events. But fighting games became more evolved where we had health bars when you KO your opponent when their health drained (Like Punch-Out!!), or if the timer ran out (Like Karate Champ) which start from Yie Ar Kung-Fu (1985) & Street Fighter (1987). Which Street Fighter popularized 2D fighting games with Street Fighter II in 1991 which eventually lead to competition from Fatal Fury (1991), Mortal Kombat (1992), Fighter's History (1993) etc. Heavyweight Champ Warrior Punch-Out!! Champion Boxing Karate Champ The Way of the Exploding Fist International Karate Yie Ar Kung-Fu Street Fighter Fatal Fury Mortal Kombat Fighter's History Which the Street Fighter brand continues from re-releases of Street Fighter II, the Alpha series, EX series, Crossovers, and Street Fighter III brought in nothing but a bunch of new characters with few from past installments which the series stopped for awhile until Yoshinori Ono revive the series with Street Fighter IV. But since this is Street Fighter's 30 Year Anniversary, there was an announcement during Capcom Cup 2017 which we will be getting a collection of Street Fighter games from SFI-SFIII Third Strike: List of Games in Collection What you see in this picture, your getting here is almost every version of Street Fighter (with exception Hyper Street Fighter II, Alpha 2 Gold, Alpha 3 Max, HD Remix, & Ultra Street Fighter II The Final Challengers) along content worth of gallery from Interactive Timeline, Concept Art, Music Archive, & Sprite Viewers. Online You will be able to play online with the following games on this picture which will have Ranked, Casual, Lobbies, and Leaderboard. Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection will be released for every platform (PS4, Xbox One, Switch, & PC) on May 2018. Street Fighter Memorial Archive: Beyond the World celebrates 30 years of the game's art Street Fighter has lived and exploded as a brand over the past 30 years not only setting the pace for the genre in the 90's with Street Fighter 2, but also its strong art style and direction garnered the attention and sparked the interest of players all over the world. Capcom is releasing their 30th Anniversary Collection in may to celebrate the games themselves, but Kadokawa is getting in on the party with a new book detailing the art and history of the franchise that just released on March 24. Street Fighter Memorial Archive: Beyond the World contains 256 pages with art from various artists and designers including the man himself Akira "Akiman" Yasuda. Alongside the art, Beyond the World features interviews with developers that have worked on the series throughout its many iterations. www.amazon.co.jp/dp/4048937693/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_iIcAAb3XY58FF?language=en_USThe book is only currently available in Japanese and is being sold for about 4000 Yen or ~$40 USD if you were looking to import Beyond the World to wherever you may be living. Beyond the World also features artwork and interviews from illustrators and manga artists like Fuzichoco, Terada Katsuya, Yusuke Murata and Hagiwara Kazushi. Check out the samples from the book in the gallery below, and let us know what your favorite piece of Street Fighter art is down in the comments after the jump. www.eventhubs.com/imagegallery/2018/mar/28/street-fighter-beyond-world/2/Source: eventhubs

I'm pondering it. I don't think I will first day because I want to make sure the netcode and everything else is fine. This is Capcom we're talking about.

I think it was due to lack of options and some other things like that. It is based on the arcade versions no doubt. I still think each version should have had full functionality in terms of online, training, arcade, etc.
Especially since we're talking about $40.
