2D Fighting game discussion

Well in the original my boy was Link.

Then my brother would play as Luigi and we would own people like you would not believe. It's funny though. Everyone has an ego about the Smash Bros games.
They think they rock hard or something.
I don't care.

I did, but I only crave in depth 2d fighters that take more skill. More room for improvement and learning.

Smash bros was like Marvel vs. Capcom 2 to me, fun, but not serious competitive. More because MvC2 is so broken.

I certainly don't think it's the greatest game ever but I do think it could quite possibly be the best FPS we've ever seen.

Teehee... no. It is polished, but Duke had superior level design, and Timesplitters three had 200 characters, loads of missions, humor, tons of weapons, and innovation. More of what I crave.

Halo would still get a 9.0 or above, but people make it out to be more than what it is.

I would give it one of the best looking, but not the best. What new thing did it contribute to gameplay in a whole or the genre?

If you think about it it contributed to the FPS a good bit.
It allowed for Vehicle usage in the game and not only that but a wide range of vehicles to use. While weaponary wasn't brand new alot of the mechanics behind it were.

In multiplayer it was really was innovative especially for a consel game. It allowed to custimazation to a character instead of locked color schemes you had to use. It allowed for up 16 people to play at any given time over the interent while playing a consle game.

Marvel vs. Capcom is good but I felt it was missing tweaking and depth, the game wasn't beta tested and is why it is sooooo broken.

I concur. Although it did allow us the oppurtunity to play as some very cool characters.

Strider for instance. Although he could become almost nigh invulnerable with that Ororubus (or whatever) thing going.

Megaman. Always wanted to play as him but is it really fair to have a character that has a projectile as a fierce hit?

Venom. :huh: Okay he was odd.

War Machine. Not really actually it was just Iron Man in a different color and with one extra special.

Yea, it's a great game, but it's a bit too broken for me to take tourney serious. But nothing like having Spiderman and Ryu fight side to side.
