Now you hear this like a million times that they are rivals ever since the playstation era and again i will tell you how this work tell me which one you like more and please if you can answer these two.
Resident Evil because it's seems more scarier and realistic to me if you played the remake guess who there's soo many things to get scared from that one.

My favorite character has to be Wesker
Which monster is your favorite?
My favorite monster is Verdugo
Which game is your favorite overall?
My favorite game is Resident Evil 2

Silent Hill had some really good moments of suspense and surprise that were very well done along with the story. |

Apples & Oranges to me, I like Resident Evil prior to Silent Hill, but my good friend in high-school put me on Silent Hill. The thing is that Resident Evil isn't really scary, never has been. It's more action packed than scary, that's for sure. . .especially now a days. I always felt that the fear factor in Resident Evil was forced, especially post RE2. I'm glad they decided to go the route they went in part 4, even though it effected the movie's in a bad way (Which is why the second RE movies sucked compared to the first, though part 3 looks good). Resident Evil has been suspenseful at best, but not truly scary. Stuff like cut-scene every time you open a door, was just not frightening and felt forced. It lacked the real horror element that Silent Hill on the other hand has. Silent Hill is:Creepy, Suspenseful, and frightening. . .but, not action oriented like Resident Evil, which makes for a better horror game. The Action in Silent Hill is more methodological vs Resident Evil and Furthermore, your character is really limited in Silent Hill games Vs Resient Evil. Usually, your character in Resident Evil is a trained special forces member who is trained in high level combat and is armed with firearms right off the bat, plus you find even more powerful fire arms. By the end of the game, your most likely armed to the teeth with weapons powerful enough to cause a small war. That ruins the horror element, because now the enemies are not as intimadating and are easily disposed of. Silent Hill on the otherhand, you'll play as an average joe, who is limited to basic tools you find. If your lucky you'll come across a Fire-arm that has limited ammo. This helps make for a better horror game, because your enemies are not only more threatening since your character has limited options versus Resident Evil. They also tend to overwhelm you eaier, which makes for a better horror experience. Combined with the "creepy factor" in Silent Hill, and you have a scarier game. They are both good games, though. . .just different.

silent hill 1 is about harry manson looking for his daughter.
silent hill 2 is about james sutherland looking for his dead wife.
silent hill 3 is about heather morris aka cheyrl finding out what was suppose to happen.
silent hill 4 is about henry townsend trying to escape the room.

At the moment Silent Hill is better personally
Resident Evil has slighty gone downhill since Resident Evil 5 seemed to concentrate more on the action, I hope Resident Evil 6 changes that.
