Imagine Marvel was making a game like Smash bros.
Who would be selectable characters? What kind of levels would there be? Who would work as an Assist Trophy? Who would be a boss?

I think it's practically Marvel vs Capcom, just a little more serious, though I don't see either of them as serious serious fighting games. Explain Assist Trophy.

You can't be serious.

I'm not now that I think of it, but in the original Marvel vs. Capcom (Xmen vs Street Fighter) didn't they have pre-assigned ones, or something similar? I just really got into Brawl this Tuesday so I had to jog my memory.

Yes, in MVC they did have something similar to Assist Trophies.
But I disagree with you on being the same. Some of the characters they put in those games don't make any sense at all for a definitive Marvel title.
Like Shuma Gorath, Sentinel, Spiral, Psylocke, Omega Red, US Agent, War Machine, Silver Samurai, Marrow, etc...
I could probably keep going if I really thought about it but I don't want to.
Come one people!
Show some gusto!
Captain America Spiderman Wolverine Iron Man Dr. Doom Thanos
There! That's 6 characters we could throw in the game. Any others?

Well the first Smash Bros would be like that, the second and third ones used just about everyone, hence why it reminded me of MvsC.

Galactus should be the boss, seeing as how you could fight his hand like you would "The Glove". Onslaught and Apocalypse would be a good idea too, seeing as how they already have been in a fighting game where they had giant hands.
What about Mephisto or Dormamu, don't think I spelled his name right?

Make Classic Beyonder the boss, he deserves it for the disgrace Marvel has done to him(a Goddamn Cosmic Cube).
Galactus would be too obvious a choice IMO, Dr. Doom would make a good boss, have him steal someone's power or something.

Dr. Doom should be a selectable character IMO...
OH! What about having him as a replacemet for the Multi Man brawl? You know, about 100 Doombots.

Classic Beyonder would be too strong though, I know it doesn't count as much but come on...

Also there's something to be said for popularity in this game as well.
Beyonder isn't exactly a very popular character.

duuuuude. It's mugen time. They have a smash bros type game for the DS with anime characters but I still haven't had a chance to try it.

Revised cast list:
Grey Hulk Thor Captain America Spider-man Mantis Nebuela Black Knight Hawk Eye/ Goliath Silver Centrion Wolverine Magus Ben Grim Franklin Richards Sue Storm Magneto purple Costume Tyrant Pheonix
Sub-Boss: Molecule-Man Dark Pheonix Tyrant
Boss: Galactus Unknown I.G. Wielder
I vote for using most a cast of unknowns because MVC2 already covered a good amount of famous characters.

That looks like a pretty good list. duuuuude. It's mugen time. They have a smash bros type game for the DS with anime characters but I still haven't had a chance to try it. I already know about Mugen, but I don't want to get hooked on it again. I really hope that someone makes a SSB mod for Mugen because it would be great if you can put any character you want into a SSB-like game. I already know who'll be in my roster... The name of that game is "Jump Super Stars", and it's sequel is "Jump Ultimate Stars". I was never able to play it since it was never released in North America.

Well, I saw Hyrule castle used in a Mugen. Though, it was fairly limited in comparison to it's authentic counter part. I can't wait for the day when people can make mugen games that play like or even better than real games.

I saw a bunch of SSB stages on Mugen, but they were just low-quality pictures in the background. I'm talking about a Mugen mod that will apply all the game mechanics of the SSB series (i.e. percentages, smash attacks, items, super attacks, etc).
Well, all it takes is dedication and a creative mind. If I had loads of free time, I would try to alter the code so that I could make a unique Mugen game.

All of this talk about Marvel characters in a fighting game makes me want to play "Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects". I've never played it before, but I wouldn't mind playing it in the future. Did you guys ever play it?

I've seen it and it looks okay, but I guess when it comes to 3-D marvel fighters there isn't much IMO.

Well, wasn't "Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects" the only 1-on-1 fighting game made by Marvel?
Then again, wasn't there a 3D X-Men fighting game for the Gamecube?

Well, I might rent the game if I can find it at a local video game store.
If I get the chance to play it, my main fighters will be Venom and Storm.
