Has anyone seen the show Elfen Lied? I was shocked when I saw the first episode. It has to be on of the goriest animes ever. Plus, nudity everywhere.
It must be crazy over in Japan. I can't believe that they would show something like this over there.

Here is episode 1You could do an image search (wouldn't suggest doing it because of the content) If you just want to see what I was talking about go to www.youtube.com, type Elfen Lied, and I think the sixth (could change) video shows an accurate depiction of what I was talking about. It is an AMV that is 3:54 minutes long. (I do not want to give a direct link, as I stated above.) Warning: the video is violent |

I couldn't find the one you specified on the first page of the youtube search, so I just watched this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJk9sQct-rY) cause it had the least awful music.
I could never see them playing that on american television without editing the daylights out of it, the japanese have different standards though.

It is a great show. I just wish they continued with the story though. There is a lot more in the manga that happen after the show ends.

Yes what a anime i mean i thought i wouldn't see any other animes that are real violent besides Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate anyway i love that show matter of fact i seen every episode just don't get me started on the hentai one.

It's like saying Titanic was a pornographic movie because it had a topless scene. It depends on the intents as far as I'm concern, I don't agree with Western Culture 100%. If it were over the top violence to get your attention, nobody would care, but if there's some nudity, it's a big deal. I mean you can watch what you feel, but to me one is as bad as the other, European cultures cared less about sex and more about violence and Japan was all around. |

True. I remember hearing about some teenagers in Germany, who protested the school dress code, and they protested nude. You would never see that here.
It seems like I started a big argument on another forum. Someone said that the show had incest in it. I explained that it didn't because incest is the sexual act between to close relatives, and that the characters never did it. Kissing is not a sexual act. Some argued that it doesn't matter. Plus, even if they did "do' it, then it wouldn't be incest. I guess incest is relative (hahaha, get it). Over here two cousins together would be wrong, because of our beliefs. Over in Japan cousins can marry, so to them it would not be wrong.

Alright, garyuu, you had me convinced on that other elfen lied thread. Most of the stuff in the show isn't designed to turn you on. But it's just like psyquis was saying, at times, it's not really necessary; it's just there. Of course there are plenty of times where it was perfectly necessary too.

Some stuff is unnecessary, but the stuff that comes to my mind is probably what most people aren't thinking about. The first scene can be argued over. The times when I think it is unnecessary is when they have bath scenes. Those parts were unnecessary when I think about it, but I don't that those were parts we were discussing (at least I wasn't).
