Is it just me or does anyone think that out of all songs to play, they had Camptown Races on hte show. I wouldn't think anyone outside of America would know a song like that, especially in Japan.

Maybe it's their way to "mix" the culture, I know sometimes I see references throughout some anime that screams American.

whooo, this is old. lemme just address this. Of course he says that, but that doesn't mean shit to me, if you would pardon my French. I should have phrased my points better, my apologies. I have no doubt that the Redwall books were aimed at both young and old as well, but who ends up with most of them? Middle-schoolers (grades 6 - 8, for those who aren't familiar). Fair enough. I just heard that they actually made it a pg13 movie. So I'll say that helps. It's not a very impressionable audience... But the book remains very open to young children whether that is the predominant audience or not. I haven't. No. I read the wiki summary. I watched a preview. I'm a horribly judgemental person . No seriously. The wiki summary doesn't seem concerned with getting the book banned. I skimmed it; it's really just an event summary. And I got the gist of all the biblical allusion/christian metaphors and whatnot. As for Pullman's quotes. They came through actual interviews, which I looked at myself. I thought you were gonna suggest a different term. Don't get me wrong. I know it's bad usage. But I can't think of a better term for the life of me.

Azumanga has a lot of stuff from these characters trying to speak english. And then the scene with the American tourist was hilarious.

So the series is somewhat short?

nah, 26 is sort of like average. Elfen Lied is what I would call short. 13 eps. But I guess you could say 26 is short.

13 is like a half season to me but it is also fairly average for anime. A lot of really popular animes run 13 episodes and some should have turned off at 13 (Death note)
Some popular ones include: Gunslinger Girls (though a second season has just finished) Kino No Tabi (Kino's Journey)
and um.... Actually I'm at a loss now.
It's very rare and semi-annoying for a show to go beyond 100 episodes. The problem with shows that hit that ridiculous number is that you get a lot of "Filler" episodes. Episodes that don't contribute to the show but just fill a spot.

Azumanga Daioh is my favorite anime of all time. My favorite character is Ms. Yukari because her reactions are hilarious. I can't choose one episode as my favorite because they're all good.
I'll post the opening since I'm in a very good mood.

Well, you need to watch it because it's hilarious. I haven't seen the subbed version, but the English dub is very good.

Last time I checked, only the first seven episodes of the English dub were on Youtube. I've been watching the episodes on www.veoh.com since all 26 episodes are on there.

Yeah, people put a bunch of strange/interesting stuff on Youtube.
One of the most intersting Azumanga Daioh-related things I found on Youtube was a live-action portrayal of the opening. It's both accurate and funny.

haha I downloaded the subbed version. This anime is so awesome. But I watched the dub and I have to say I dislike it. Probably because I didn't like Osaka's voice, and she's like my favorite character.

I agree that this anime is awesome, and I would do almost anything to watch a new season/movie of it.
I might watch the subbed version if I ever get tired of the English dub. If Osaka had an English voice similar to her Japanese voice, would you have liked the English dub?

If Osaka had an English voice similar to her Japanese voice, would you have liked the English dub? Well, yeah probably. Of course if her voice were just similar in all the relevant ways. The southern accent sort of makes sense since they are trying to emulate her Osaka dialect, but in all that, they lost her spaced out demeanor. Her seiyuu just sounded so blissful and oblivious all the time. It was hilarious.

His name was Mr. Kimura and he was creepy. I think it's common for an anime to have a pervert whenever the majority of the characters are females.
Besides Ms. Yukari, my favorite characters were Tomo and Osaka. Honestly, those three kept me entertained throughout each episode.
