it's fantasmic! and to think if you used a master ball..... it'd prlly look somthn' like: switch(ball) { case ball!=Master_Ball: all that math crap; case ball=Master_ball: catch the pokemon; } lovn' Nintendo atm

To be honest, I'm somewhat surprised. I already knew that the pokemon's max HP, current HP, status, and the kind of ball were important in catching a pokemon, but I didn't know that the equation would be so complex.
Anyway, that's still cool.

It's not that bad really. I hack into games like Duke and BG and there is simply pages and pages of coding for simple things like dropping ammo when the comp dies, it's really complex.

Well, I don't know how to hack into games. Do you use some kind of program for it?

you mean mod?
yeah, actually I'm not really that surprised at the complexity. The thing is, programmers don't really care how ridiculous the numbers look or how drawn out the equation is as long as it works. I mean no one ever really sees the equation itself anyway (sans us unlucky souls). A friend and I were looking at damage calculators for his game, and it was really long. I asked him if it was simplified (as it clearly wasn't). He said no, and that it didn't really matter. It's not gonna slow the CPU down or anything.
And most of the time, they work with the equation by running it through simulations. So it's understandable that they'd want to fine tune all their constants perfectly. First they construct it on theory, then they adjust it with actual tests.

It could be modding also, either or.

I just said it was ridiculous. I'll tell you when I was surprised: when Alex showed me his little damage calculator. And of course by little I don't mean little... at all.

acutually, from my experience, the CPU does better with more complex calculations, atleast the ones i was doing. Not on that level, granted, but hey it's pretty complex to me

Holy crap generally isn't used unless it was something surprising, like "Holy Crap that is a large turd in the toilet!"(I'm sure that's happened to all of us. Wouldn't you say that sounded a little surprised?

so you're implying that what you eat, will be crapped out in it's original shape before being eaten?

Pokemon stopped being serious business for me when they made a Pokemon that was a friggin cherry.
Though I did not know the formula was that complex lol.

Yeah, the fire monkey's name is Chimchar. He's one of the starter pokemon in the fourth generation. I wasn't able to watch most of the fourth generation pokemon in the anime because I was busy with college and work. I wasn't even able to play Pokemon Diamond or Pearl since I don't have a Nintendo DS. It won't be long until there's a fifth generation... Pokemon stopped being serious business for me when they made a Pokemon that was a friggin cherry. You're still obsessed with that?

I haven't watched the show in ages, I have my cards still, but I was watching Yu Gi Oh last, I liked that show and I had it's cards too.

I still have my Pokemon cards, too. They're somewhere in my closet because I stopped spending money on them after the first generation.
I never cared about Yu-Gi-Oh.

I sold my yu gi oh for a couple hundred and a palm pilot. I had everything all holographic in both decks. A beatdown/dragon, and a flip effect deck. They complemented each other well.

Did Yu-Gi-Oh have some good video games? I never played any of them. It had a good game for X-Box, that's the only one I played. It's a card simulator, but it was great. Yu-Gi-Oh is really fun, Recommend it.
