What is selfishness? Is it a bad thing?

Give examples here and explain.

For exmample, I know people like to act like having kids is the largest most important contribution they can make.

However I feel that having children is the most selfish decision one can make. Don't get me wrong. I think we all make decisions based on self interest. I just don't like the hypocrisy from the breeder types.

How do you feel about children and reproducing in general? How do you feel about human selfishness? Is it inherently bad?

Well poor people do that. Which is of course selfish, but look at the other reasons people procreate. Ask them why they don't adopt instead.

1. They want to fulfill themselves.
2. They have a whole they need to fill.
3. They want to keep a man around.
4. They look good so they want to see how good their kid will look.
5. They think their kids will be the next Bill Gates or some such.
6. They want to live off of them when they get older, so they have kids so they'll be "taken care of".

All are selfish reasons from top to bottom, especially since you're bringing someone who didn't exist into the world.

Which was of course in their own self interest. I don't see the "honor" in doing that. At least when other people are selfish they don't bring people into the world who didn't ask to be here to get cheap labor out of them.

Well, what do you consider to be selfish? I don't fault a man for not having kids in this current climate because none of the traditional incentives are there anymore. Only a dumb beta would think it's honorable to get married, have kids with no benefit to himself. That's retarded.

I think that selfish is just another way society controls people by brainwashing them. That doctor was called selfless, but as soon as things went bad for him. He swapped Altruism for a plane ticket back home infected with a deadly virus that could kill all his friends back home. You tend to notice that the people who say they are selfless and altruistic are anything but. Mark Steyn noticed the samething:

Exactly, that's because altruism is a hoax designed to rob people of their individuality and make them a part of the collective. Many marxist rulers believed in altruism. You can follow your self interest and benefit others at the time, that's what entrepreneurs are doing when they create businesses, hire people, and sell products and services. They're enriching their lives and everyone else's.

What is someone who is leeching off of the system providing? Absolutely nothing. I also hate the argument that they "paid into it". They didn't pay into anything and the government has no guarantee to pay those benefits back. They shouldn't have voted for it. What they sent has already been spent. I think political and economic systems are "technically" different from religions, but that said they are religion for a lot of people who replace "god" with government. We are more fascist now than we are communist, but pretty much every culture on earth has tried this failed experiment. It's based on envy and theft from losers. Loser societies will always be a losing experiment, which hurts the people who push it. Now you know why I say all aren't equal. Most are too dumb to know what's good for themselves.

Our founding fathers were intelligent and well learned men who understood the dangers we're getting ourselves into. They didn't have any of the technology we did but they had the wisdom to know what makes our country great, and people have ignored it and steadily gotten rid of the protections that kept government out of our lives. We now have people in power stealing and people at the bottom stealing. Odumbo spends so much taxpayer money on himself it would make an emperor blush. They just want to get their hands on the gravy train before it all collapses.



What do you expect? How can a society become great if you hurt the people who make everything happen and reward the parasites? How can anybody argue for this making a prosperous society? They do but it all comes down to stealing and buying votes. Wealth comes from production and all we produce is debt.
