Whew. Glad you got some new game play in... You know something? They say that Chun Li might be a problem for R. Mika. Here is my answer to that... Two words: NEUTRAL. GAME. As... we've been (trying) to demonstrate on the beta for the past several days. It's easier said than done but players are never going to get through any bad match ups if they don't understand how to adjust their approach in the game. Also, C-Master - I really enjoy watching you play, especially on an intellectual basis. Not the kind of player to fall under pressure easily at all. One more short vid

Yea I have a lot more than that, but it was laggy in a lot of them. I might sift through them and see what else I can find. I also need to get a new video editor so I can just make one movie. This game has a huge emphasis on frame traps and knowing your normals. People definitely need to work on their footsies. R. Mika, like all grapplers tend to struggle against characters with powerful normals. Vega and Karin were very annoying for me to face as well. Chun is tough, but the only one I faced was that a couple of times. Bison was also a pain. She has a slower walk speed and all of her normals are negative except for her lights and HK, which can be stuffed by smart players. You just have to be patient. I was using training mode to combat normals. For instance Bison players like to use cr mp a LOT, so I found a work around. You can sweep and cr lk underneath the punch. It keeps them from spamming. Many Charlie players like to use his cr mk a whole lot and his sweep so I block and punish since many low pokes have long recovery times. Unless your name is Karin and you have cr mk. This is the most button based SF IMO. I definitely recommend people polish their fundamentals and learn their buttons. It's vital and no character has bad buttons this time around. Thanks for the compliments. I had my ups and downs and the lag was awful for me yesterday and I couldn't figure out why. I plan on working on this game and I'm glad I got some early practice on it. Who did you like the most in this beta?

Frankie3s was my favorite player. He was the guy who popularized Denjin Ryu, back when unorthodox play was more accepted and people weren't as closed minded/Tier whoring as much.

I haven't watch in a while, but the SF4 players I watch are former 3rd strike players: Hayao and YSB.
Yeah, I saw and I hope it's true.

She may or may not. I think they'll do a conservative change like they did with Karin.

She may or may not. I think they'll do a conservative change like they did with Karin. Ibuki's a bit more "wild" than Karin and supposedly has the second largest chest size. They might have a little fun with her. Even Karin is wearing a shapely set of leggings with her underwear underneath (though not as obvious as before) that's big over there.

I knew Karins stand light kick was good. Nobody was using it correctly!! In theory s.LK c.MP is the best frame trap at her disposal. I wish I could have tested it more :/
Looks like counter hit increases advantage on hit by 4 frames. My guess is Light counter hits add 2 frames and mediums adds 4 frames advantage. Was it like that in 4? Only basing it on the fact counter hit s.MP links into an 8 frame sweep.
Her down punch followup from rekka is a pretty decent option to conserve v-trigger if for some reason you do rekka on block. Her safe step back followup for rekka drains it like crazy and -2 doesn't feel too bad in this game so far. Does anyone even have 1 frame moves anymore?
Her overheads are extremely weak and all the people spamming her moves on block are idiots. Crouch jab is your best option after blocking her overhead move for the most part. Do NOT punish with throw often or you will have your head jumped on.
Very curious to see how she will change in the next beta/ final product.
Only character I felt was way better then the rest of the cast is Bison but I haven't seen any frame data on him yet. I only fought him once but I can only imagine how crazy his data looks. Vega seemed quite strong also. I'd say they were the 2 best characters in the beta.

They all have crazy normals and can lead into good damage and Karin has a lot of follow ups. I wouldn't be surprised if they were toned down a bit on the next beta. Many high ranking players I ran into just picked Karin and mashed. Strong buttons play a big role in this game and you have to know your frame traps this time around.

I mean in the long run that won't work. All her special moves are punishable or are you talking normals? I think she deserves good normals but I hope they make her specials way more punishable. This game still has a lot of weird interactions with normals so I guarantee theres still a ton of changes that are gonna happen. More buffs to other characters rather then weaken her. Her followups are actually really realllllly bad if you look at the risk reward. You should never use them on block. I mean it'll be awhile until people to see how bad it is but I'm already pretty certain. She doesn't have viable gimmicks. Her game will for sure be mixups but not from follow up moves. Here's the good part though!! She doesn't need gimmicks :')

Here's the good part though!! She doesn't need gimmicks :') She doesn't need to follow up every time, you're better off just blocking when they end the string. She has upkicks, a stupidly good overhead and some insanely good normals including a far ranged, cancel-able cr. mk which is completely safe and spammable. She also has lots of frame advantage on her normals looking at this sheet.. No character in the cast has bad normals but we don't need braindead mashing type stuff either. A lot of Karin's got very far just mashing away. I mean everything can be read and reacted to if you always know it's coming, but the thing is you're under pressure and you don't always know. It's not like being in a training room. The fact that her normals are so good on top of her good damage and great confirms is what makes her so good. She's definitely up there with Vega and Bison. If they have to cut down on the gimmicks and just balance characters all around I'd prefer them do that than making them crazy in one area and gimmicky in another.

Wait all versions of her qcb K is overhead or are you talking about the mk version? If blocked she is punishable on every version of that move. Honestly the only use that move is gonna get is simple c.LK, s.LP xx qcb LK xx super. Whiff punish c.Mk if they spam it (Karin stand mk destroys crouch mk)! She can't do special moves on block at all or at least against herself. I know she can punish all of her own moves. Don't know about Mika though.

Her hp overhead when spaced properly can be hard for many characters to punish. She can punish her own moves because she has crazy normals with lots of frame advantage that can be confirmed from. Mika has nice pokes, but most are negative and many don't lead to anything. Hence why grapplers have a hard time with pokers. I see some of Karin's normals being adjusted. She might get more rekka use as well. I don't see her rekkas as completely useless plus she can extend combos with her trigger as well.

I mean everyone has a 3 frame jab; punish is a punish no matter how small. Heck you don't even need to block that move. You can low profile it and get a full combo. I think her best button is by far the fairest. Its purely a poke move that you can't cancel or link into anything else so it should be very good. I can't wait to see Ibuki get a +4 command overhead again while Karins is -6 with zero combo options even on counter hit. Rekkas are super good for damage right now so I don't think they will improve only get worse if anything. What is R.Mika drop kick? I'm guessing + when charged only
Do you know if there is a 3 frame buffer for punishes or only links? I felt like it might be buffer but then again I didn't actually put much time into how it works.

Actually only a few characters have a 3 frame jab. Many have a 4 and I think Birdie has a 5. If the damage isn't worth it then it won't discourage the opponent. Her normals are all around good but her best one might just be her cr mk. If you haven't noticed in this game they've really toned down a lot of the low pokes. They're more unsafe and it's hard to get damage off of most crouching normals. Hers is fast, long ranged, and cancellable. Many characters can only cancel off of a short up close for like 115 damage. This game plays much different than SF4 and characters with crazy normals and good conversions are going to strong. That's why Vega is. Karin and Vega were seen as top in this Beta by pretty much all noteworthy players. I'm looking at her frame data and I can see why. She keeps the pressure up much longer than most other characters. I'm curious if you think the character Ono might be "hinting" at is Dhalsim. Thoughts?
