As a buyer, both sites have pros and cons. I generally look through both sites to find the better prices.
As a seller, I am not happy with eBay constantly changing its rules in favor of the buyer over the seller. I have cut back on selling on eBay for a bit because of it.

Yea I didn't even touch Ebay at first because of all that I remember hearing about scams. Some did sell some fraudulent memory sticks, which is common online, but I've found some great things there that I haven't found on Amazon. I just don't like them being so pro idiot.
Then again Amazon prime is really good.
I actually sold a cordless keyboard/mouse combo on amazon years ago and it moved well. Put an item up there now and it moved well again. I bought it for $110 or so a few years ago and it sold for $150 as an electronic; must be hard to find. I couldn't move it on Ebay at all.
Then again bidding works for things like old games and hard to find consoles. I would have never made what I thought on those consoles if I just sold them as buy it now. I was only expecting about $50 or $60 at first. Ebay seems to be trying to discourage auctions more and more and now you have snipers anyways.

I am not a fan of amazon prime. I generally place orders over $35 and am not in a rush. So I just go with free shipping.

I am not a fan of amazon prime. I generally place orders over $35 and am not in a rush. So I just go with free shipping. Some people like the streaming services that it provides. I find it to be solid if you like fast delivery like I do. Sometimes I get stuff fast, and sometimes it may take me 6 days to get it so I like having constant 2 day. That said they do often have a "higher" price on prime items so one would have to do the math, it's better when you get it on pricier items where the shipping can be more and the price stays around the same with free shipping. It was too good of a deal before since they were losing money on it, so amazon added the add on feature and made prime $100. If you get things somewhat frequently I believe it's a good deal. I like ordering and getting things fast, sometimes it saves me a store trip if I don't plan on going in the direction of the store. Ebay stuff usually ships on the two day plan since most just use priority shipping so I don't usually have to wait too long there either.

I stream from other sites, but that is a plus for most people.
If I were to try amazon prime it would be around Thanksgiving. If they had the month free and then get it for a year it would cover 2 Christmases.
When I get back from vacation I have to start listing stuff eBay and craigslist again.

I'm not much of a tv watcher personally. I listen to radio and some older shows and movies. So it's not a deal sealer for me. I did mine around that time-on accident. I was looking into it, but I buy stuff mid year. I don't really bother with Christmas at all but that's another discussion. Craigslist is great for appliances, mowers, furniture, and things like that which would be too large to ship and too cumbersome. As long as you meet someone in a public place you'll be set. I've heard about a lot of weirdos but I have no problem there. I do get solicitation from them though via phone but I've changed my advertising, that said they still call with robots. I find it weaker for business advertising because of how they ghost ads now and certain businesses pay to spam the hell out of the site, you also get a lot of low-ballers from there, so I don't use it for that anymore.

Yeah craigslist has some interesting individuals. But all I care about is cash in hand.
When I was doing some side work I would sometimes go on there. People would want countless things done and only want to pay a pittance. My time is worth more than what they wanted to pay. So I ended that. Now I just do things by word of mouth. I only take jobs that interest me.

Trying to chase customers around several cities can be a huge hassle, but if you're getting rid of large items it's great. Cheap customers are the worst customers. They constantly complain and they want something for nothing. I target more commercial or customers in higher end areas who want better quality work. Agencies are meh. They can give you work but they want a cut and I hate a 3rd party inbetween myself and the customer. I've gotten some good level work sometimes but some agencies want a lot more control and it's just a hassle. There are other places where you pay an up front fee and I don't like those either. Sometimes the best advertising is just the old fashioned way. Hell even google and the like have issues. Competitors can just click away at your page with a vpn and eat up your views doing that.

Yeah. I would possibly take more jobs, but people are basically lazy and don't want to do any actual work.
So I take jobs that I can do by myself and finish in a weekend. Hot water heater, pergola and 3 retaining walls this past summer. The summer before I did 2 floating decks and 3 sheds. My free weekends I spend splitting firewood.
The winter time I spend playing video games and getting fat.
Although I was doing a project for my friend. He needed me to troubleshoot his pc problems for one of his arcades. That's why I have been mia the last few months.

As a seller on ebay the fees are getting ridiculous. Last month was $52 and this month its $30. I've recently been doing more things on craigslist now. Im thinking about switching to amazon to be honest it seems they have more value of the sellers than the buyers

They took like $120 or something from me on Ebay and that's my first month. It was a large chunk that I could have kept and sold on Amazon on Craigslist. I've sold on craigslist on several occasions as well, but I hate the new layout. Ebay was good for selling my collectible/uncommon stuff. Made more on that than I would have made otherwise. Once I clear out my consoles I'll probably be done with ebay for selling. I do have my ancient pokemon cards from like 15-20 years ago I was going to sell as well. Ebay also owns Paypal and you pretty much have to use it, so they ram you a 3rd time. It's crazy. Tell me about it. People want something for nothing and then complain there is no opportunity out there. This country has gotten worse with work ethic. It's possible to find a good team and good workers, but they're the exception to the rule. Then you have to take all the risk and have to worry about dumb customers on top of that... meh. You were flipping houses a while back right? Winter time tends to be more lax for me too, but we're busy year round. I still advertise and I've been selling and clearing out a lot of stuff. Must have been a big problem.

It was. I basically had to undo all the programming that he did and then redo everything from scratch.

I just got my first return request moments ago. It was bound to happen sooner or later. I'll be glad when all of my tech is sold and cleared out, that's for sure. Screw Ebay. I'm going to amazon.

Well I have 2 console/handheld lots I have left on ebay but that ends tomorrow. The return request was on a mouse. I'll just sell it on amazon. Find that place great for electronics. That said I did sell a mouse on ebay last week and it went fine.
After my mice are sold, I just have some equipment I'm getting rid of on craigslist, some trading cards (I'm thinking amazon here), and some art supplies. Hopefully those last two game orders go through smoothly. I like when stores buy it to resell as they pay well and complain less.
