A Longview man has been arrested for the murder of Tyrone Underwood.
Carlton Ray Champion Jr. was arrested Jan. 29 for a probation violation, but was the prime suspect at the onset of the investigation, according to the official affidavit.
On Jan. 26, officers found Underwood, 24, of Tyler, dead in his vehicle from multiple gunshot wounds in the 400 block of West 24th Street.
Early interviews with people who knew Underwood revealed the two men had been seeing each other for several weeks.
During an early police interview, Champion told police he had not spoken with or seen Underwood since 11 p.m. on Jan. 25.
The police located cell phone messages between Champion and Underwood the night of the murder that indicated the men wanted to meet after midnight. There was an argument between the two men that ended with Underwood telling Champion he did not want to continue the relationship.
Around 2 a.m., the two decided the location of the meeting.
Champion became defensive and uncooperative when police asked him about the inconsistencies in his earlier interview.
Champion, who police say was attending Texas College, remains in Gregg County jail and faces first-degree murder charges in Smith County. Judge Christi Kennedy signed the arrest warrant and placed a $1 million bond on him.

UPDATE (February 9, 2015 at 12:24 p.m. CT): According to an affidavit filed in support of the murder arrest warrant, Carlton Ray Champion Jr. became a suspect after Ty Underwood's roommate, Kedrick Darks, told police Underwood had been dating a man named "Carlton" for several weeks prior to her death.
Our news partners at KYTX CBS 19 are reporting that although Darks had no details on the man, a police department employee who knew Underwood said the man played football Texas College. It was at that point that investigators connected the dots and confirmed that Champion, in fact, played football for the school.
The detectives said they interviewed Champion, who confirmed that he had been communicating via a service called "Kik" with Underwood, who was going by "Tyra" on the service. They were able to search Champion's tablet computer and allegedly discovered communications between Champion and Underwood dating back to January 19, 2015.
"After reading the text between Champion, Jr. and Underwood, it was clear that the two have had sexual relations with each other," one detective wrote.
The investigation revealed a series of messages between Champion and Underwood on January 25 in which Underwood was angry with Champion for initially agreeing meet in person that night and then backing out.
Underwood sent a message saying she no longer wanted to see Champion, to which he allegedly responded: "That's how it is now, I will make it up."
After that, there was allegedly some additional conversation about where and how they would meet, and whether it would be at Texas College or along a random street. The conversation makes it appear they were to meet on 25th street.
The investigators also obtained surveillance video allegedly depicting Champion exiting his dorm early on the morning of January 26 following the Kik conversation.
One of the detectives interviewed Champion's father and wrote "[Champion's father] stated that Carlton Jr. was meeting [Underwood] and thought [Underwood] was female. According to [Champion's father], Carlton Jr. was supposed to get some type of sexual favor from [Underwood] but realized [Underwood] was a male."
Additionally, investigators say Champion's jacket worn at the time of the murder tested positive for blood in a preliminary test that's too basic to determine whose blood was sampled.
Yea thanks to sjw and political correctness this transsexual man was killed. Since the sjw and political correctness crowd believe that how a person feels has more worth than fact, science and actual proof. Tbh i cant feel any sympathy for the murdered man since he lied to his partner in the beginning. People say the football player should have checked the hardware out before to make sure its wasnt a man but figuring out ones gender shouldnt take detective work. This is why myself am against being able to have your sex organs changed since for one the person is lying to themselves and they expect the world to accept the lie they are telling. This transsexual clearly lied to his partner knowing that the football player was seeking an actual woman then keeps playing the lying game and as a result suffered the consequences of their actions.

In all seriousness I can't say he *should have* killed him, but I can't feel bad for people when they do that. They keep it a secret because they know that men will flip out.
That is like one of the most foul things you can do to a man. Have him think you're a woman and then you're something else.
People can do what they want in their lives, but I think it's best suited to an environment where that's the norm. Simply thinking you're a woman doesn't make you a woman. The mainstream media tries to jump around this by never revealing the other side of this reality.
Also did you hear those stories of schools letting young children "choose their gender" and what restrooms they can use? Etc.
Just crazy.

Well the transexual man had many times to stop the relationship from growing since they met on some internet site called kik. Most people who post on these social media sites say what gender they are interested in dating and their sexual status. Before the online conversation went past hello and how you doing the tranny should have told the guy he wasnt a woman. I dont know who made the initial contact but still chances to tell the truth were available. Im pretty sure the football player had on his profile that he was a man that liked women but since the tranny thinks or wants to be a woman figured it would play along deceiving this guy. The tranny probably shouldnt have been killed but there is an old saying of if you play with fire you could get burnt.
I didnt hear about schools allowing kids to choose gender. Man this world is so screwed up.

Well the transexual man had many times to stop the relationship from growing since they met on some internet site called kik. Most people who post on these social media sites say what gender they are interested in dating and their sexual status. Im pretty sure the football player had on his profile that he was a man that liked women but since the tranny thinks or wants to be a woman figured it would play along deceiving this guy. I'd recommend you do some travel the way I plan to. I want to go to a society that rewards growth and thinking without all of this PC brainwashing (which is just about restricting thinking). People should take responsibility for their actions. This society is about absolving it and blaming it on others. |
