The story is soooo dumb. Frieza comes back and apparently he was a prodigy that never bothered to train. So, after training for the first time in his life in just four months he can rival Goku who fought Beerus.

How did he come back from the dead?

They wished him back. I just can't get over the tidbit in the spoiler I posted. Plus did you see the design? It's basically a pallet swap. First Super Saiyain God and now this. The transformations are looking more and more like those bootleg versions of the characters.

The remnants of his army. Gotta milk the DBZ train as long as they can. It's been the same stuff over and over again since the Cell Saga anyways.

It really annoys me with how lazy and unoriginal it is. On top of that people say that these are improvements. I mean they can literally use the same characters over and over again and just make up new power levels and people go nuts with it.

But, at the sametime I don't watch too much anime like I used to.

Nothing wrong with being a fan of something and I can enjoy something even if the quality isn't great, but these people are like SF fanboys, they just eat up anything they serve up no matter what. It's sad.

I mean, really! Was that Super Saiyan form REALLY necessary? And, I wish that Toriyama would put more emphasis on other characters that are not Goku. I think it is wonderful to see Piccolo, Tien or Krillin fight again (and win) for a change! It could be written that way according to what some script writers have in mind but... that's wishful thinking on my part. I do wish that some of the other character's simply stayed relevant in terms of fighting ability

DBZ has other neat characters that make the series more bearable than one dimensional Goku. It would be much better if they all did something. Let Piccolo have his time to shine rather than the same old predictable "only Goku can save us". Not to mention the new transformation is unnecessary, but I guess the audience they're catering it to wants to see more tranformations and not any good writing. SMH.

You would think that Toriyama would take a different approach in presenting the characters... especially after all of these years. I used to watch DBZ a lot when I was younger. As of now, after learning a thing or two about proper direction and writing for entertainment or project presentations... I see things quite differently. I am not trying to be funny but looking at the DBZ series, it seems like there is so much potential being wasted.

I have a friend who loves DBZ and he's an adult and he complains about DC characters being overpowered but he has no problem with DBZ characters having no plot or characterization. I mean it's not about the power alone, it's about the scaling of power and the utility of the characters and setting. DBZ is horrible in this respect and has so much more to offer. But it doesn't have to offer it because the mainstream audience wants Michael Bay esque explosions and paper thin plot and characters.

As if to say, the series is going to continue appealing to the lowest common denominator. There is just so much that could have been done differently in order to make things better but... it is just one missed opportunity after another. The power leveling concept is also rather weird, especially in this series. It has a tendency of leading to bad writing and it shows periodically through out the series, especially after the Frieza saga. The series is very good at rendering many other characters absolutely useless for no real particularly good reason. As soon as a character powers up to another state or form (whatever that may be), they suddenly become... selectively invulnerable. There is so many flaws with this concept... and the DBZ series pretty much ran it to the ground, along with mainstream audience generally using it in their little arguments or "vs. X character" nonsense. This is part of the reason why I am a bit picky about what anime show that I watch. This also goes for movies and games as well. DBZ is sort of the "Michael Bay" of the anime genre in some ways...

That's where the money is... Michael Bay ruining many franchises. DB was better than DBZ. Many will disagree if they're younger though, or fanboys. DB had inventful and entertaining characters, a cool story, great and unique enemies with different abilities which felt fresh. When you got to DBZ it was all about power levels and everyone did the same thing... even the overpowered regeneration that Cell and Buu had were just stolen from Piccolo. Now it's "here comes a new character who's stronger than anything in the universe" and then Vegeta, Piccolo, etc all try to fight and end up useless while Goku powers up from deep within and saves the day. it's the same thing over and over again and I don't see how people find it good. Yes it can be entertaining but it's not great, and it can be better.

^ I love the use of color, but yeah. It's the same stuff we've seen a trillion times. Also: DRAGON BALL SUPER ANNOUNCED WITH JULY PREMIERE DATE
21.6k We've waited 18 years for this. BY LUKE KARMALIThe first new Dragon Ball TV anime series in 18 years has been announced with a Japanese premiere set for July.
Called Dragon Ball Super, Famitsu reports the new show will apparently be written by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, with events taking place after Goku defeats Majin Buu.
Fuji TV producer Osamu Nozaki said: "As I read the plot [of the series] I've already received from Akira Toriyama, my dreams for this begin to expand. An enemy even stronger than Buu or Freeza may appear..."
Dragon Ball XenoVerse Review 02:36 The last new Dragon Ball TV show was Dragon Ball GT, which aired way back in 1996 and 1997. A film taking place after the events of the Majin Buu saga, called Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' premiered in Japan earlier this month, with a worldwide release due in future. IGN Logo

Dragonball is definitely far better than DBZ. They had pacing, a plot, good fight scenes, and even comedy and some fanservice. DBZ is bleh.
