Although HxH is really good when it comes to not overpowering their characters as much aren't they? They don't grow at quite an exponential scale right? Well, it depends on what you mean. The characters don't become planet-busters or whatever. But, more dangerous and more powerful enemies do appear. HxH uses a class system like YYH. The most dangerous enemies recently were just a B class [Refrence to Toguro] The new enemies are mostly if not all higher than B. Without spoiling it , the newer enemies aren't human which is why they're so powerful [Sort of like the demons in YYH]

Yes, that's true. All the early villians in Hunter X Hunter are still threats and haven't been defeated by the main character till this day. Hisoka has been around since chapter 5 and he's still a threat. It's not like DBZ where the main character becomes so strong that the previous villains wouldn't be a threat. In Hunter X Hunter the anatgonist are usually vastly superior to the main characters during the arc. They may close the gap latter, but it takes a while.

Is there any spotlight hogging ala Goku? Nope. the 4 main character system keeps everything balanced. Though, for a while the focus was on 2/4 the cast. The main character isn't even the strongest of the 4 main group. Recently, the main character Gon has lost his powers and is sitting this arc out. The other 2/4 of the main cast are now the main characters now after not having been in the story for two arcs.
