Just yesterday, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja announced the Dead or Alive Festival, a large scale international event taking place on August 1st in Tokyo. Said exhibition will be on Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, and will certainly be live streamed. Here's a bit more about the way players are chosen, from the press release:
"This free entry tournament is open to all players from around the world, and a total of 5 international players will compete in and automatically qualify for the top eight finals at DEAD OR ALIVE FESTIVAL. Utilizing points from this year's North American DEAD OR ALIVE tournament tour, BATTLE ROYAL 2015, two North American players will be determined to attend and compete at DEAD OR ALIVE FESTIVAL by a DEAD OR ALIVE community vote from a total of eight qualifying players with the most points."
Hit the jump to learn more about the community vote, and the exhibition's prizes!
Continuing from the press release, the format for the voting is as follows. "Team NINJA will post the final top eight North American candidates on June 15, 2015 after the ECT (East Coast Throwdown) tournament has been completed. The names of the top eight players from Battle Royal 2015 will be posted on the Team NINJA social channels and will allow the community to cast their votes via select fighting game community (FGC) websites. Website information to cast votes will be announced after the ECT tournament results".
Prizes announced are a trophy for first place, and entry into NECXVI plus flight and accommodations for second and third, with said event being the grand final of the Dead or Alive Battle Royal series.
Who do you all think the qualifying American candidates will be? Does such a spectacle seem like a good way to celebrate DoA5's success? Sound off below!
