It's a rhetorical question, because Cyclops is definitely much better written character. I just wanted to start a discussion about it.

Characters like Cyclops have a more interesting and realistic story overall but they end up putting characters like Wolverine into the limelight because of the "I'm a badass" thing. Kind of the same with Leonardo and Raphael. That said writers have been trying to do more with Cyclops. He's become the mutant leader after Xavier and has become more "edgy". I definitely like the things they are trying to do with him now.

Cyclops has been one of the best consistently written characters in the last 10 years. Yeah, he's become more dark, but not in an "edgy" juvenile sort of way. He's also a great leader and has had to make some of the toughest decisions I've seen any team leader make.
Wolverine is the type of character I liked back when I was 14. He's still more popular and so Cyclops gets the shaft these days. But, in terms of characterization it's a blow out.

That's because Wolverine has the "in your face" approach that people who seek wish fulfillment enjoy. He's tough and brazen. Cyclops is more reserved but written in a more mature and cerebral way. It's funny because Wolverine is like a "dark" Spider-Man, but he's ultimately still "good" despite his "dark past". Cyclops is a great character.
