Update: Bayonetta, synonymous with her home game's title, is joining the battle. Cloud Strife will be available for download later today, along with a collection of brand new Mii Fighter outfits.
Bayonetta was voted the most popular potential character in Europe, fifth most popular in the US and was the most popular world wide.
Earlier: We just learned that yet another Fire Emblem character will be joining the world of Super Smash Brothers. Corrin joins the battle, but is not primarily a sword fighter like his fellow Fire Emblem characters.
Corrin can actually change between being male and female, though we understand that this will not affect his game play. Below are images from the reveals thus far. Corrin will not bring a new stage to the game, but does come with two new music tracks if you purchase him. We don't have an exact date, but we do know Corrin is slated for February 2016. Check back for more details soon.
"Never satisfied, never full, they eat and destroy with grubby hands until nothing is left but piss, but now the judgement of all humans has begun."
Technically Bayonetta has been censored to fit into Smash, I don't have a problem for this because Smash is already age rated which means DLC needs to fit this age range which means that Bayonetta should be impossible but the fact they got her in this game as sexually suggestive as she is is a miracle, can't wait to get her Amiibo!
My worry is that idiots are going to use this as a way to catch people out on censorship "You don't want Capcom to remove the butt slap but you're okay with Bayonetta not going naked when she attacks?" Obviously we all know why she's not naked and that Nintendo have tried to be as faithful as possible but I can see SJW's trying to use this as ammunition. Guarantee before the end of the week there's an article trying to cultivate outrage over Bayonetta, probably something like "I'm glad Bayonetta is censored in Smash."
She's not censored because it was never there in the first place. She's just toned down. No different than a horror character in a children's cartoon played for laughs. Kratos in Playstation All Stars wasn't "censored" if they never put his GoW content in the game. Same with Spawn in Soul Calibur. I can see them making a dumb argument like that though.
Either way it's a kid's game so it makes sense. They still have more balls for not censoring Samus.

More balls for censoring Samus or not censoring Samus? Are you talking about the whole High Heel/Rocket Heel thing?
I'm glad Bayonetta is in Smash, I knew she would be censored/toned down to make it in and that doesn't bother me the slightest I just guarantee someone is going to try and cause a controversy.
I meant not censored.
Bayonetta wasn't censored another developer is using her in their work how they want otherwise all of those other guest characters are censored. Nothing was ever removed from their work. If I had the license to use Aliens vs Predator and used them in a humorous fashion for a cartoon, I wouldn't be censoring anything.
People always complain because they're stupid. I'm at my wits end with it at this point.

I know what you mean, but Bayonetta goes naked when she summons demons or uses her wicked weaves, where as in this just the hair on her shins and arms goes. Nothing was censored in terms of the Smash Bros version of Bayonetta but the actual character was censored, that's what I mean by censorship. It's like if The Punisher shows up in a Marvel movie, he ain't going to be swearing or blowing limbs off, he's still the Punisher but he would be the Marvel Movie Version, so technically The Punisher has been censored but he hasn't because this is the Marvel Movie Version.
It's not censorship but technically it could be called censorship because we are now talking about an M-Rated character being limited to an E for Everyone character. I wouldn't go around calling it censorship or even getting angry because smart people like us know why Bayonetta isn't naked but I guarantee someone is writing an article that is designed to get fanboys angry. I hope nobody actually tries to get people angry at Nintendo for censoring Bayonetta because if it gains traction that's just going to make everyone complaining about Capcom look bad.
Anyway balls to Nintendo, great big balls! For not censoring Zero Suit Samus and including a sexual character like Bayonetta because fans demanded it! Europe rocks! Number 1 Hell Yeah! Now I want to play Bayonetta...
Well no, if you look at the Mortal Kombat movie it wasn't as violent as the game, but that doesn't make it censored. You can't use two different mediums of work and say that's censorship because you'd have tons of examples of it.
It's more of an alternate interpretation if anything since movie characters get a lot changed on them. The Punisher movie was rated R and had violence. Now Punisher in the Spider-Man cartoon definitely didn't kill.
Now if she had something and it was removed then it would be censorship.

I see your point but if I adapted a book and left out the graphic violence would that be censorship? Toned down, censored or a different version whatever you want to call it I'm just glad she's in Smash and they've made her as sexy as they possibly could.
Making a new work based on an old one would just be a new work. Some movies go darker, others go lighter.
Let me give you an example. Look at 1987 TMNT. The comics of course were far more dark, violent, and had more adult themes. The 80's cartoon was a kids cartoon. The cartoon itself wasn't *censored* because it was light hearted. The Fred Wolf version is just different.
Now the 1987 Cartoon WAS censored, but it was because they took out the Nunchucks in the UK version entirely (and in later seasons of the US cartoon), and because they removed the word Ninja in the UK version (ninjas and nunhcuks were banned, go figure).
That was actual censorship because a creator had to change their own work to fit in with whatever guidelines were there. Not because it was different than the source material. That happens ALL the time.
I'm glad too of course. I'm still laughing at the possibility of them adding Duke Nukem.

Okay fair enough, so would it just be called toned down?
I guess, but it's a different work and I don't even mind since it's a children's game. I love Duke Nukem but I wouldn't expect him to have naked women with him in the game lol.

Yeah I don't mind either, I'm kinda worried SJW's will try and use this in their favour. It's a bit weird that all of a sudden they love Bayonetta.
They'll always complain about something, that's what they're all about. Either ignore them or own them. I won't let them get in my head like that.

Earlier this week, we received a ton of new information regarding Super Smash Bros. from the most recent Nintendo Direct. During the broadcast, we learned that both Bayonetta and Corrin from Fire Emblem will be joining the battle as DLC in February.
Since there was so much to take in from that 33 minute stream, we have decided to give a quick rundown of the two new fighters, starting with Bayonetta. Today, we have the details on the Umbra witch and what she's capable of in Smash.
First up, let's take a look at her costumes and colors. Players will be able to choose between her Bayonetta 2 costume (with the shorter hair) and the original Bayonetta look. One color will also pay homage to Jeanne, her fellow witch from the game.
Combos:
• Bayonetta is known as a "combo fighter" in Smash. • Her neutral A, strong side A, front air and more combo into themselves for multiple hits. • Though she has some simple combos, they are slow to start. This means she can be interrupted fairly easily before she gets the chance to land a strike.
Bullet Arts:
• Pressing and holding the button after an attack will make Bayonetta fire her guns continuously. These can be used after almost any attack. • They have no hit stun, so they can be countered easily. • They can also be used in the middle of combos. • Bayonetta can shoot whether she's punching or kicking. • Comes equipped with both sets of guns: Scarborough Fair (Bayonetta) and Love is Blue (Bayonetta 2).
Wicked Weaves:
• This is her Smash attack and it has a huge attack range. • Great for big punishes and KO-ing the opponent. • Down smash can spike at the edge of the stage.
Witch Time:
• Activated by pressing down + B. • This move slows down time and lets Bayonetta punish her opponent freely. • It doesn't, however, slow down the entire game. Just the opponent you hit with it. • Works as a counter move. • Length of slow down determined by: the amount of damage the opponent has (higher damage = longer slow down) and overuse (will shorten the duration).
Bat Within:
• Activates when Witch Time is triggered late. • This reduces damage dealt by the opponent.
Taunts:
• Can perform a long taunt that lets Bayonetta dance. • This can be cancelled at any time. • Special visual FX were used in her development, such as butterflies appearing when she lands from a jump, roses dropping when she gets hit, and her shadow being Madama Butterfly (on Wii U). These add Bayonetta's signature flare that fans will easily recognize.
"Never satisfied, never full, they eat and destroy with grubby hands until nothing is left but piss, but now the judgement of all humans has begun."
Bayonetta was almost responsible for raising Super Smash Bros.'s 4 rating in Japan from A (to all ages), possibly to a B (ages 12 and up), or further, because of sexual content.
According to Nintendo Everything, even the slightest sexual exposure would have hit the game with a higher rating from CERO.
It's interesting that Nintendo got in as much as they did, as judging from Bayonetta's artwork and trailer, she's still pretty sexy, which fits her modus operandi from the titular titles.
Also, the poll which Bayonetta came from had nearly 2 million votes worldwide.
Other things of note included that Cloud was picked for the roster because he's the most popular Final Fantasy character — by far.
Also, Sakurai initially thought that there would be too many characters from Fire Emblem, but after speaking with the development staff, he was assured Corrin would make for an interesting fighter.
"Never satisfied, never full, they eat and destroy with grubby hands until nothing is left but piss, but now the judgement of all humans has begun."
I wonder what happens in Japan if DLC raises the age rating? I know over here unsold copies of the game have to be recalled so they can reprint the new age rating on the box. Still I'm glad Nintendo pushed the A are rating as far as possible and the 7+ age rating over here. Oh god imagine if Bayonetta was censored over here... I'll be so pissed.
Welcome back!
It's a definite triump and it shows what we can get through the systems if we push. Lame Capcom.

100% a triumph, some times it's important to push the age ratings especially when it comes to sexual stuff like Bayonetta because let's face it Bayonetta's sexual content shouldn't be more concerning then exploding heads. Nothing wrong with violence or sex in media it's just weird that sex can get your movie pushed to a 15 or 18 and violence needs to be graphic in order to go to 15.
I've missed these forums.
Yea, you seldom lose fans by increasing the content a bit, censoring it definitely pisses people off.
Glad to have you back. The forums have missed you too lol.
