Like you said before C-master, DC heroes start on a considerably higher level than their marvel counterparts.
Superman>Thor [Has demonstrated more strength and can be just as versatile as Thor with his hammer. Not to mention he's too fast for supes.]
The Flash > Quicksilver [Where do I start?!]
Batman> Captain America [Cap would win in a one on one fight, but put them in a anyhting goes situation or give Bats prep. And, you will see much different results.
Green Arrow> Hawkeye [Do I need to say why? Really? Ok, here we goe: Nuclear war head arrow, Phantom Zone arrow, Handicuff arrow, Safe cracking arrow. . .I mean whatever the plot needed he had in the form of an arrow.
The Atom> Ant-man [Between shrinking to sub-atomic levels which is far far smaller than what Ant-man can do. We also have the power of a white dwarf.]
Green Lantern> Quasar [ They make look even, but as always once you digg deep you find that lanterns do more than make constructs out of energy. Hell, Hal stopped time and prevented his own death. Surfer is the only one that stands a chance and he's the most powerful hero in marvel.

Yea, Surfer would cream Lantern, but as you said DC starts out at a higher level, but that's because all of their characters have powers that are pretty much direct plot device. Superman, Batman, Green Arrow, Flash, and Green Lantern tend to have powers that "work for the situation", making them very powerful depending on who writes them. You said Thor is too fast for Supes or is that a typo?

Marvel characters have those kinda powers too, but it's not taken as far as in DC. Surfer on average should beat a lantern, because on average their abilities are just constructs of mental energy. While surfer draws on and converts various forms of energy to others. But even with his powerset guys like Hal jordan, Superman, energy superman have done similiar things. So, I cannot say for sure if surfer could cream them at their absolute best. DC heroes seem to always be one step ahead of their marvel counterparts. Then you have instances when earth heroes become Gods: Ion and Supes. I don't wanna seem bias, because both verses are strong. Just that the heroes of DC are generally stronger than their marvel counter parts. At least that is the general impression I have when I look at their careers from a birds eye view.
Yeah, it was a typo, supes is way faster.

I think Surfer gets the edge on guys like Supes and Hal because he has great powers without the silly limitations that they have. However he isn't a common hero like other A-listers in the universe in terms of popularity.
I think many of Marvel Streets beat DC streets, but DC mainstream heroes tend to be Godlike.

Well, his power is a plot device kinda like those guys. Difference is he has no weakness like fear/ yellow impurity or Kryptonite to keep him in check. Well, other than the fact that he tends to be a pushover.
Marvels best characters are for the most part street levels and meta's IMO. The only character that's higher ranked that I think is really enjoyable is Thor and there was a point where he was the only outright herald level hero in marvel for a reason. Stan lee gave a good explanation about it in an interview I saw a while back. I would count strange, but he's hard to gauge. DC tends to handle stronger characters better than marvel IMO.

That's more or less because Marvel spends much of their time on their street levelers, and that's where most of everything is centered, they are more believable and more real. DC focuses on guys that are Superman and Wonder Woman level, and that's where their time is mostly spent, except for Batgod, who is the highest selling character in DC anyways. It works for the best that Marvel spends much of their time on the street levelers, they are more relatable and DC characters tend to be "too perfect", but I do think DC has more mature writing.

Your right about Marvels main focus being on Stree levelers and meta's: Spider-Man, Captain America, Punisher, Dare Devil, Wolverine, Cable and most X-men are their most notable titles.. Even the Avengers at one point was reduced to a Street level group: Cap, scarlet-witch, Quick-silver and Hawkeye. DC characters focus tends to be on their God-like heroes: Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Flash are the most notable and are alot less realistic than Marvel [Not that it matters.] Hell, Spectre is a hero who is basically comparable to LT and then there is Johnny thunderbolt. My comic book reading teacher said the samething about Dc being more mature.
