Well, if that were the case they would be partially right. Visual cues are important, but it's silly to then say "therefore graphics are tied into gameplay ". But, this is eventscrubs so yeah....

Well by definition it's a *video* game. Naturally you need to see what's going on to enjoy the experience completely. It's just like watching a movie, if it's a blank screen the entire point then there's no purpose. You might as well read a book. Movies are dumbed down books anyways, heh.
To say that "fancy graphics" matter as much as gameplay is silly. Especially in fighting games because fighting games are the worst visually of any genre except Indy games. You always had hit confirm cues. Either the hit stop was different or you had a different sound effect. People just prove their hypocrisy by hating on Kof because of the visuals while it's still in development but then they say "It's all about gameplay." when it's about censorship. Just nonsense.
