Who likes this Spider-Man storyline?
I have to be honest and say that I do not. The readers are left wondering what is cannon and what is not. So MJ and Peter never married, and Harry is back alive... But we don't know how or what caused these events.
We know the reason for them, Peter and MJ wanting Mephisto to keep May alive. But we don't know HOW these things happened. What happened that MJ and Peter aren't together? Why is Harry alive again? How is it that everyone knows that Spidey unmasked, but no one remembers what he looks like? So Peter never agreed to the registration act? What else didnt happen?
We don't even know what is even cannon anymore. This One More Day storyline is screwing everything up.
The Wolverine vs Spidey threads are screwed too. Some of the arguments on both sides may have not ever happened now. The one where Spidey throws Wolverine out the window, or the one where Spidey webs up Wolverine and leaves him in the alley. The one where Spidey is hitting Wolverine with everything he has, and Wolverine is just smiling. All of that may or not be cannon.
I have alot of complaints, because nothing is making sense.
There is one good thing though- there is now only 1 Spidey title. Published 3 times a month. I like that because now it will be 1 title telling 1 story. Not 3 titles telling 3 different Spidey stories a month.
I hope that some of the other characters combine titles and keep 1 singular story going.
What does everyone else think?

I don't like the changes or the pointless events, most of the events and growth physically and mentally he had acquired throughout his career are now gone for no reason. I remember reading at KMC that it's the author's idea to make Peter Parker "young" again and that means doing away with his wife. But making him divorced or a widow makes him seem older, so they opted for this. Honestly I don't think (nor do I hope) it'll last very long. I sense a retcon on the way.

Maybe they should have eaten the brains of the writers. But even in terms of character, why can't they accept May dying? She's old and will sooner or later.

Because comics don't believe in progress, which is why I'll always believe that continuity is not important to comic fans anymore. Writers refuse to accept that somethings will get old, so, they keep using plot devices to find a way to renew the characters. I think people should just enjoy comic arcs for how they are rather than how they fit into continuity.

Well, you can always go to old comics and read about her. I don't worry about it too much, because resets and retcons happen so often it's hard to care. I just don't see the point of worrying about it because it happens all the time in comics and Marvel has a poorly handily continuity anyway. Writers constantly play favoritism or underwrite or overwrite what they like or dislike *cough*Starlin*cough* I normally don't mind if it's for the sake of a better story, but there are many times they just play favorites. Which is why I only read up on periods that I like and when it comes to debates, I only use the incarnations of the characters from the periods that I like. I'll never use Spidey from the "the others" arc or any hero from Quesada era because it's crap. I see alot of people complain about Quesada and Bendis, but still buy his comics. . . weird.
Anyway, One More Day is only an issue if you care about the Canon. I know I don't, and the simple remedy is to use classic Spidey rather than current if you wanna use his older feats for versus.

In all honesty it's not a *huge* deal for me, I guess the point that people were trying to make was, "Why mess up Spiderman's life some more?" The guy has already had it messed up, so there's no point in doing it more and more. We understood why he did it, but it just isn't Spiderman to most people. But you are right, it happens all of the time, nothing to get upset about.

Yeah, they often do, but when they do things like deface a character because of personal feelings it doesn't come off as very professional. Were always going to see writers try to reinvent or redesign heroes and while it's not a bad thing. Some writers just have to big of an ego and end up taking things too far. There's a difference between trying to take hero in a new direction and taking them to whatever direction I want because I'm the writer. Look what happened to Tigra in New Avengers #35 thanks to Bendis. He disliked Tigra so he uses her as a tool for shock value.

^ Agree'd, but it's not even fanboys that like this, but the companies themselves which seem to have fanboy policies. It honestly seems less about the comics and more about the writers.

I miss when it was the characters that were the voice of the companies and I miss when discussions were about the characters versus overzealous discussions on the writers.

Yea, it seemed at first that talking about writers was more intellectual or something, but now they are made out to be the true fanboys a lot of the times.

I just feel that the writers have over-shadowed the characters. I hear more topics about the writers then the characters TBH. Only time I see discussions about the characters are when they are talking about a new story arc. I always see fans ranting about writers and continuity breaks. Yet, there are times they don't even know much about the characters. I like talking about writers as well, but it's become a bit out of hand when you have entire rants and songs on writers. Not everyone does this of course, but it seems to be what fandom is about now. Not that it matters to me, because I read comics for fun.

Well things have changed, and now that we have more access behind the scenes, we tend to be able to talk about them more also. In the older days you just picked up a comic and read it.

Well, I don' wanna seem snobby, because I don't think I'm better than someone because of that. There are alot of elitist however who think reading a certain comic or knowing about the writers makes them deep. Honestly, online politics makes things boring fast. Before I got into them the internet was much more fun and when I stio caring about them it became fun again.

It's all about having fun, when people try to be better than someone else at every little thing, it just ruins it.
