www.technobuffalo.com/2016/03/01/microsoft-to-unify-xbox-one-and-pc-gaming-what-does-this-mean-for-the-future/The news from Microsoft today is rather enormous. It signals that the Xbox One is certainly not the machine Microsoft wants it to be in terms of sales or hardware, and it signals that Microsoft is adapting on the fly to try and overcome their limitations while pushing the market forward in a completely new way. According to Xbox boss Phil Spencer at an event in San Francisco, Microsoft is unifying the Xbox One and PC platforms. Spencer offered that Microsoft is “building out a complete gaming ecosystem for Universal Windows Applications.” Xbox One games will sell on the Windows 10 store. They’ll be playable on the PC platform and the Xbox One. Even further? Spencer indicates that the Xbox One will eventually be a bit more modular, making it possible for users to upgrade their consoles with newer hardware in order to player higher-end Universal Windows Applications. These announcements are massive, and we’ve decided to chew on them as a duo in order to better understand exactly what’s going on. What you’ll read here is a conversation between Eric Frederiksen and me, Joey Davidson.

Well now that it is official the xbox one fanboys have a big pill to swallow. Phil spencers twitter and hardcore xbox one fanboy youtubers should provide some good entertainment for the rest of the week.

Yea Xbox fanatics have been deeply bothered by games coming over to PC. Killer Instinct had this going on. Xbox doesn't compete directly with PC and it will make gaming overall better. Console exclusivity is stupid.

Well phil spencer wants to have an official xbox 360 emulator on pc so time will tell. In my opinion it is looking like a strong possibility now.

Yea Xbox fanatics have been deeply bothered by games coming over to PC. Killer Instinct had this going on. Xbox doesn't compete directly with PC and it will make gaming overall better. Console exclusivity is stupid. Since I own KI an X1 and keep up with that community and their tournament players i'll go ahead and set you straight about that game. All tourny players and the vast majority of KI players overwhelmingly voted for a PC port to KI in the official forums. I mod on KI4life's stream for a decent amount of time and everyone was for expanding the community with a PC port. There were some fanboys decrying a PC port sure, but it wasn't he majority of the player base and acting like it was isn't legit, or accurate. Many KI players game on PC already and had been asking for a port for ages. Also KI's netcode on X1 is the best in the industry for fighters and the game offers great gameplay. So that community has been pushing for the PC port for a while and they are happy it happened and excited for Season 3 and a larger player pool. I haven't seen you being active in the streams or community forums so i'm not sure where you're getting your misguided info, but it's an inaccurate blanket statement of the KI community based on a smaller minority of fanboys you've chose to focus on (probably from eventhubs).

I pulled it from my ass. No. I have a thread here where we discussed it in detail when the possibility was announced. I was one of the main people arguing against the fanatical fanboys who were just furious about an Xbox game coming to PC. They had a thread there with a poll if you recall. thacmaster.proboards.com/thread/2115/killer-instinct-on-pcThe majority of Xbox players who argued were fanatical and just didn't want this game on PC saying it was stealing sales from Xbox and that they had to buy a $500 console and a $200 stick and it's not fair that we get the game cheap. Not realizing that people like me were *never* going to buy a console. That thread got crazy with a bunch of 12 year olds making sock accounts and voting multiple times with people getting banned so I remember it very well. It was a big hot topic for months. Which member were you because I never saw you there unless you were under a different username at the time. That said it did end up with people not being against it being on PC but a lot wanted it released in a later season. Keep in mind most of those people came from different websites through links and voted. If that thread was contained in the forum the results would have been quite different. The tournament players are a tiny percentage of the base and if they're competitive I doubt they cared anyways since it wasn't about fanboyism. The fanboys tend to be in the vocal minority, much like the SF fanboys who buy anything just because it's SF. I do agree that the netcode is good and that having it open on more platforms just increases the player base and longevity while making money for the company. Hence why I hate exclusives. Hell if Smash Bros were on PC I'd buy that too. I will have to build a new torrent/nas machine for all the new games I won't have time to play. Heh, oh Ron.
