Rumor: Dead Rising 4 Leaked Ahead of E3 2016 Reveal
A new rumor is swirling prior to next week’s Electronic Entertainment Expo – this time it’s a potential new sequel for Capcom’s Dead Rising series.
Featured above as well as below, the first images for the game were posted onto 4chan (via ThisGenGaming), prior to being further corroborated by Kotaku:
“Although we’ve grown not to put much faith in blurry off-screen photos, I recently saw another shot of that same poster from a different source, which helps corroborate the leak,” Kotaku’s own Jason Schreier said.
Other rumors and various “industry insiders” that refuse to vet their identity to Niche Gamer claim the game is exclusive to Xbox One and PC, and it will probably be announced during Microsoft’s E3 presser.
They also poise it as a “remake of some sort,” will have four player cooperative, will allow players to venture outside of the mall, and that it will be set in Willamette, Colorado – during Christmas.

Dead Rising 4 is a one-year timed exclusive to Microsoft platforms
Dead Rising 4, which was announced for Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs during the Microsoft E3 2016 press conference, will be exclusive to Microsoft platforms for one year, Capcom confirmed.
The news comes via both the Twitter accounts of games journalist Ryan Brown and developer Capcom Vancouver.
“Capcom rep says that Dead Rising 4 is a 1-year timed exclusive for MS,” Brown said.
In response to a fan asking if Dead Rising 4 would come to PlayStation 4, Capcom Vancouver said, “You’ll be able to play it first on Xbox One and Windows 10.”

Still with the time exclusives eh? I hope it is at least good to make it worth playing.
I need Windows 10 for this? Might be a while for me then.

Dead Rising 4: Watch 987 Zombies Get Brutally Slaughtered in Five Minutes of Gameplay
The zombie carnage is coming back, and Dead Rising 4 was playable at San Diego Comic Con, challenging attendees to slaugher 1,000 zombies in five minutes.
Below you can check out a video filmed by YouTube user The BGB, that captured his own challenge. Unfortunately getting into an armored buggy proved challenging in the heat of the moment, wasting precious seconds and resulting in a still pretty gruesome kill count of 987.
The game was played on Windows 10, and it appears to suffer from frame rate drops here and there, but there’s still a long way to go until release on December 6th for Xbox One and Windows 10.

Go Behind the Scenes of Dead Rising 4 in New Developer Diary
Capcom has gone live with a new behind the scenes video for their upcoming survival horror game Dead Rising 4.
The development team talks about their excitement for bringing back series lead Frank West and touches on some of the improvements the game will feature compared to previous entries, such as bigger and better weapons, and more powerful zombies. You can equip Slurpee machines and use them to create frozen typhoons to devastate enemies, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Dead Rising 4 EXO Suits Don’t Have Cup Holders, But Can Punch Cars Really Far Dead Rising 4’s latest announcements cover some equipment Frank West will be using to make the undead dead again, as they go over the abilities of the EXO Suits he’ll be able to find and wear, as well as the pre-order DLC people will get from ordering from specific North American retailers. The EXO Suit is an item that will be found inside and outside of the mall in Dead Rising 4. It’s a special piece of armored equipment that will give Frank unlimited stamina and increased strength for two minutes. While wearing a suit, he’ll be able to punch a car and send it flying or rip parking meters out of the ground. (However, the infographic says it lacks a cup holder and can’t punch trucks, the moon, or puppies.) Should people be fortunate enough to find these military grade robotic augmentation harnesses in the game, they should use them to tear as many things up as quickly as possible. The store-specific pre-order promotions for Dead Rising 4 have also been announced, and half of the available DLC keeps the Christmas spirit alive. Since Frank will again be fighting zombies in a mall during the holidays, people who pre-order through Best Buy get a Candy Cane Crossbow and from GameStop get a Steampunk Snowman Head. The former shoots candy canes, while the latter shoots zombie-freezing snowballs. The Microsoft Store is offering X-Fists, which can be equipped while wearing an EXO Suit, so Frank can smash things up. Amazon’s exclusive item is the Slicecycle, a motorcycle with two chainsaws strapped to the front of it. Source: siliconera & dualshockers (EXO images)

A new trailer was released for the upcoming Xbox One/PC title Dead Rising 4, which includes new footage showcasing a familiar setting to fans of the series, the Willamette, Colorado mall that Frank West had originally visited in the first Dead Rising, which is once again overrun with hordes of the undead, just in time for the holidays. Dead Rising 4 Season Pass and Digital Deluxe Edition announced Microsoft has announced a Season Pass and digital-only Deluxe Edition for Dead Rising 4. The Deluxe Edition will include the game and the Season Pass for $79.99. It will be available digitally from the Microsoft Store and at select retailers worldwide via purchase of a digital code. The Season Pass by itself costs $24.99. It includes the following additional content: Stocking Stuffer Holiday Pack: Frank West is home for the holidays and he’s got a naughty list the size of Willamette, Colorado. Tear up the streets with festive weapons, zombies, vehicles, costumes and more. Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf: You’ve mastered the outbreak – now it’s time to master the green, with eighteen holes of pure wanton destruction you can play with up to three friends online. Flip zombies the birdie where bloodthirsty, over the top zombie mayhem is par for the course. The world of Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf is extreme and the fairways are the town of Willamette, Colorado, including the iconic Willamette Memorial Megaplex Mall. Use Frank West’s favorite weapons as your set of golf clubs. With an oversized golf ball, drive down the fairways, reaching for the green to nail the perfect putt. Watch your score as you do not want to bogey in this zombie filled eighteen-hole golf course. Mini golf is made crazier with the zombie horde as obstructions and hazards. Dead Rising Fore! Dead Rising 4: Frank Rising: In this DLC, Frank West is freshly infected and needs to find a cure before he becomes a zombie and is lost forever. While searching for a cure, Frank discovers that everything is not the same as it was; zombies are getting smarter, people cannot be trusted and paramilitary forces are plotting to wipe out Willamette. Frank has a limited time before he reverts to the full zombie state and the city is wiped out. Frank will have to get to the truth first… or die trying. Source: gematsu & siliconera (image)

Frank West Looks Like Akuma In This Dead Rising 4 Trailer In every Dead Rising game, the main characters get all kinds of equipment. You can your heroes however you’d like. To show Dead Rising 4 is continuing that tradition, Capcom and Microsoft provided a Halloween trailer for GameSlice TV’s Live! with YouTube Gaming that shows Frank West playing dress up. He even cosplays as Street Fighter’s Akuma. While the Dead Rising 4 Akuma costume is the most notable, it isn’t the only outfit Frank wears in the trailer. He dresses as a blue dinosaur, luchador, cowboy, girlscout, elf, Akuma, Santa, Krampus, construction worker, and someone who looks like he just left the spa. He also wears an executioner’s hood, a snowman head, a Rudolph reindeer head, full suit of armor, and pumpkin head with an angry Servbot expression. Source: siliconera & gematsu (Santa Outfit image)

Dead Rising 4 Won’t Feature Campaign Co-op; Including Separate 4-Player Co-op Mode
Just in time for the holidays, Frank West is bringing good tidings (and zombie killing) in the upcoming Dead Rising 4, with the latest chapter in the series looking more toward storytelling by dropping campaign co-op.
In a Twitch stream with ExpertZone_Community, Capcom revealed that campaign co-op will not be available in Dead Rising 4, marking a departure from the last few titles in the series that featured the ability for players to play through the story with friends.
Instead, gameplay producer David McAnerin explained that the drop for campaign co-op was done to “focus on telling Frank’s story,” as the team is “excited to bring him back” into the fold of the Dead Rising series.
Rather than the story mode featuring co-op, Dead Rising 4 will instead feature four-player co-op in a separate mode inspired by the “Infinity Mode” from the original game, where players will work together to survive for as long as they can against zombie hordes and take on “crazy missions.”
Dead Rising 4 will release for Xbox One and PC on December 6th, 2016, with a PS4 release expected down the line.

Dead Rising 4’s New Promotional Video Is Weird, But it Might Prove Useful
Dead Rising 4 is getting close to its release on December 6th for Xbox One and PC, and Microsoft decided to promote it in a rather… interesting way.
The house of Xbox released a video of a Yule Log, twenty minutes of it, to be precise, that you can use on your TV for the Holidays if you don’t have a fireplace of your own.
Of course, that’s provided that you don’t mind the occasional zombie noise on the background, which could admittedly startle your grandma while she enjoys the virtual hearth.
While it might be considered a little weird, as promotion goes, it’s definitely fitting with the game’s Holiday theme. Who wouldn’t want to spend Christmas slaughtering zombies?

Microsoft apologizes for 'racist' zombie noise in email subject line Microsoft sent out an email yesterday advertising the new video game Dead Rising 4, which as the title suggests, is about zombies. However, the email's subject line made some SJWs have a hissy fit. The subject line was “NNNNGGGHHHAAAA”, which, if you look at through ultra sensitive racist spotting glasses, may appear to be a racial slur. Or, you know, just a zombie growl. Director of Programming Larry Hryb took to Twitter to apologize. “Today we sent a DR4 email where a zombie roar was interpreted by many as a racial slur. We apologize and promise to do better next time,” he said. The reactions to his tweet were swift, with people saying there was nothing to be offended over. “Don't apologize, people are too easily offended nowadays,” one user tweeted. “If people got offended by this they were looking for something to be offended by. Next a dogs growl will be considered racist,” another said. Damn. Talk about being micro soft. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dead Rising 4 Launch Trailer Released; Features Rhyming Frank West, Christmas, and More Yesterday, developer Capcom Vancouver released the launch for Dead Rising 4. As you would expect, the trailer features that quintessential Dead Rising tone and humor, as well as hordes of zombies being slaughtered in unmistakable, gory ways. Notably, Capcom revealed earlier this month that the game will not ship with campaign co-op. This was done according to David McAnerin to “focus on telling Frank’s story,” as the team is “excited to bring him back” into the fold of the Dead Rising series. In the place of campaign co-op, Dead Rising 4 will feature four-player co-op in a separate mode inspired by the “Infinity Mode” from the original game. In this mode players will work together to survive for as long as possible against zombie hordes, as well as partake in “crazy missions.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hilarious Dead Rising 4 Video Brings Out the Holiday’s Worst Xbox released a new Dead Rising 4 video today featuring Blake Anderson of Comedy Central fame. Sleigh bells, fruit cake, and men without deodorant beset the Workaholics comedian as he plays the upcoming zombie survival game in a snow globe wearing a nutmeg drinking hat. Dead Rising 4 Stocking Stuffer Holiday Pack Out Today; New Difficulty Options for Story Mode Coming Early 2017
Today, Capcom Vancouver’s Dead Rising 4: Stocking Stuffer Holiday Pack launches onto Xbox One for $4.99 USD, or for free for Dead Rising 4 Season Pass/Deluxe Edition holders. According to the developer, the content will come to PC sometime in early 2017.
In the Stocking Stuffer Holiday Pack, Frank West is back home for the holidays and “he’s got a naughty list the size of Willamette.” Zombies are decorated for the holidays, dressed up as things like elves, gingerbread men, reindeer, and snowmen, and you have to slaughter them all. Even the cute gingerbread ones. Additionally, the DLC comes with a new arsenal of holiday themed weapons. Such weapons include the “Candy Pain,” which is a baseball bat outfitted with barbed wire and Christmas lights.
In the DLC you can also adorn Frank West with a Santa Suit, and drive around in a new vehicle called “Santa’s Little Melter,” which is a motorcycle with a reindeer head strapped on the front of it that shoots lasers. Because, why not?
But most importantly, the game’s selfie camera now has a holiday-themed border option so you take festive selfies with zombie snowmen. This is actually the most exciting feature of this DLC for me.
Capcom Vancouver and Microsoft also announced today that two new difficulty settings for Story Mode are coming in early 2017. Details about the new difficulty settings will be shared sometime after the holidays, but we do know as of right now that enemies will do more damage, Frank’s weapons will break faster, and food will restore less health than before.
As mentioned above, the DLC can be purchased on its own for $5, or can be acquired by purchasing the game’s season pass for $20. As of right now, two more expansions for the game are expected in early 2017: Frank Rising and Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf.

Dead Rising 4 Update Adds Street Fighter Outfits and New Difficulty Modes; Free Trial Also Incoming Capcom Vancouver revealed today on the official Capcom Blog that an upcoming Dead Rising 4 update will add new Street Fighter outfits and two brand new difficulty modes to the game. These new costumes will allow protagonist Frank West to dress up as Zangief, Cammy, Guile, M. Bison, and one other unknown Street Fighter character in game. All five of these outfits will appear in the player’s wardrobe automatically on January 30 after the update is downloaded. The two new difficulty modes being added are more difficult than the base game: enemies will do more damage, Frank’s weapons will break faster, and food will restore less health. Like the new outfits, these difficulty modes will be added to the game on January 30 in this update. Finally, in order to give more players a chance to try out the game, Capcom will be releasing an hour-long free trail for Dead Rising 4 on Xbox One on January 31. Achievements and saved game progress from the free trial can be carried over into the full game should players decide to purchase at the end of the trial period. Both single player Story Mode and Multiplayer will be available to players in the trial. Source: dualshockers

Dead Rising 4: Frank Rising DLC Launches April 4, 2017 Today, developer Capcom and publisher Microsoft announced that Dead Rising: Frank Rising — a piece of DLC for the game that sees Frank West become the newest member of Williamette’s horde in an all-new single player story — will launch for Xbox One and PC (via Windows 10) on April 4, 2017 for $9.99 USD or as part of the Season Pass. Here’s an overview of the DLC via Microsoft: Frank Rising explores what happens to Frank after an all-new outbreak in Willamette. Frank is infected and wanders the city beaten, bloody and driven only by a need to feast. When a former ally discovers him, he is written off as incurable. Luckily, he’ll find help from an unlikely resource. As Frank begins to recover he’ll need to race to find a permanent cure while developing all-new abilities and strength. Unfortunately, he can no longer eat food to stay alive and must feast on others to survive. As he is trying to save himself, Frank learns that several survivors he cares about are trapped in the city with him and he must rescue them – and himself – before the government closes his case file for good and wipes the city off the map. The pair also announced that sometime this spring, Frank West will take to the golf course with Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf. This piece of DLC is said to be “coming soon” to Xbox One and Windows 10, and will also cost $9.99 USD/is included with the Season Pass. Here’s an overview: With multiple holes of pure wanton destruction, in Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf players will flip zombies the bird as they navigate the greens in the Willamette Mall and surrounding town. Unlock specialized golf clubs, costumes and balls as Frank West provides play-by-play commentary for swings, birdies, and shots. Collect Power-Ups to take the game to the next level and take out zombies with explosive style while keeping swings low and the kill count high. Hone course skills to perfection in single player, fight for the high score online in a 4-player multiplayer, or join friends in your living room with turn-based co-op. Source: dualshockers
