I've been hearing this argument pop up every once in a while who want to argue that America is really a Democracy and they want to push their collectivist beliefs. When someone says this isn't true the usual argument is that a Republic *is* a subsidiary of a Democracy.
What do you think of this argument? Is it logical?

They try to argue it's a representative democracy. But, in reality the founders hated democracy as they should since it's a bad form of government. Limited monarchy would be better.

We had some democratic "elements" with the elected officials but we tried to eliminate the idiocy as much as possible. The problem is the barriers have been removed over time.
These clowns are just saying it's a democracy period. Which is dumb. We have a constitutional republic if anything.
