TL DR version: Popular twitch streamers and youtubers were promoting csgo skin gambling sites which they owned and or had direct contact with the websites coders. They would post videos/stream themselves winning and losing with money that was provided from the website and had the odds of winning heavily stacked in their favor in order for the site to seem attractive to their fanbase to gamble on. Never did they say they were affiliated with the websites in any way which if they did there would be no scandal.

I wonder how much of this goes on in other games with promotions and the like by polishing the odds of things.
I do know those CS:GO skins can go for quite a lot in some instances. Those AWP skins in particular are really pricey.
